Moto E4 Plus Confirmed For Verizon, Unlocked Variant Coming To Amazon

Lenovo-owned Motorola has confirmed that the chunkier version of the Moto E4 – aptly titled Moto E4 Plus – is going to be available for customers in the United States on Verizon starting August 3rd. The company has also confirmed that customers who don’t want to stick to any particular carrier will be able to purchase an unlocked and off-contract variant of this smartphone later this week from retailers like Amazon.

The Moto E4 Plus has a 5.5 inch 720 display with a Snapdragon 427 processor, 2GB RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera, and Android 7.1. It has a massive 5,000mAh battery which is without a doubt its biggest selling point since the specifications are nothing to write home about.

The Moto E4 Plus is going to be available for Verizon customers starting August 3rd. Customers who want the handset unlocked and off-contract will be able to pick it up from online retailers like Amazon. The handset will also be available from Best Buy and some other online retailers.

Motorola confirmed that the Moto E4 Plus will land on Sprint and Ting come August 11th. Republic Wireless will be the last to get this device on August 14th. Customers who opt for the unlocked and off-contract variant of this handset will have to pay $179.99.

Amazon is going to sell the E4 Plus as an Amazon Prime Exclusive Phone. Customers can opt to look at ads on the lock screen in exchange for a discount.

LG V30 Outline Hints At No Secondary Display

The main differentiating factor of LG’s V series of smartphones has been the secondary display. The very first handset had a secondary ticker display on top of the main panel and LG stuck with this combination with the LG V20 as well. While it was expected to do the same with the LG V30, it turns out that this is not going to be the case.

The leaked outline of the LG V30 confirms that the handset is not going to have a secondary display. LG is expected to unveil the V30 on August 31st, one day before the IFA 2017 convention kicks off in Berlin.

There have been a few rumors about the LG V30 so far. Some have suggested that LG will be moving from LCD to OLED for the V30. @OnLeaks has leaked what’s claimed to be an outline of the LG V30 from its user manual. The outline shows that the handset’s design is similar to that of its predecessor and that it features a dual camera system and fingerprint sensor at the back.

Aside from the slightly different position of the front-facing camera, it seems that the secondary display has been done away with for good. Either that or LG has decided to blend it with the main panel. It’s not known for sure at this point in time.

Nothing is set in stone as yet so we won’t know for sure until LG officially unveils the device later this month.

Moto Z2 Force Price Quietly Reduced By Motorola

It hasn’t been long since Motorola unveiled its new high-end smartphone, the Moto Z2 Force. The handset was launched with a full retail price of $800. That’s expensive by any standard. It appears that Motorola has taken the initial feedback under consideration because it appears that the company has quietly reduced the full retail price of the Moto Z2 Force.

The first generation Moto Z2 Force was sold for $720 so it was a bit surprising that Motorola decided to make the second-generation handset more expensive by an additional $80. The company also pushed its Moto Mods that can cost up to $300 so customers would have to spend over $1000 if they wanted functionality offered by the modular components.

The folks at AndroidPolice have spotted that Motorola has quietly reduced the Moto Z2 Force’s price. It’s now listed on Motorola’s website for $720 which is the same price as last year’s model.

Customers who purchase it on financing via Moto can now get the handset for $30 per month as opposed to $33 per month previously.

The handset is now available via Motorola slightly cheaper than what carriers are asking for it. Carrier listings for the Moto Z2 Force average around $750 and it remains to be seen if they drop the price as well to bring it in line with Motorola’s.

Microsoft Starts Selling Windows Mixed Reality Headsets

Microsoft has made a big push for Mixed Reality with Windows 10. It has also been working with OEM partners to develop Mixed Reality Headsets. Starting today, those who are interested in purchasing one can do so from the company itself. Microsoft is now selling two Windows Mixed Reality Headsets to any and all customers who want one.

Acer’s Windows Mixed Reality Headset has now been listed for sale on Microsoft’s online store. It costs $299. HP has also made a similar headset that’s now available for purchase online through the Microsoft Store for $329.

Both headsets have similar specifications as they feature 2.89 inch displays as well as six degrees of freedom tracking to power Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality experience.

Microsoft first started taking pre-orders for the headsets back in may this year. Developers were allowed to get their orders in early. Even though these headsets are primarily meant for developers, anyone can head over to the Microsoft Store right now and pick one up.

These are not tethered headsets so a PC with reasonable specifications will be required to power them. The minimum specs that Microsoft has listed on its store include an NVIDIA GTX 980/1060 or higher graphics card for a good Mixed Reality experience.

More Windows Mixed Reality Headsets will be released later this year as companies like Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and HP all have more headsets in the pipeline.

New Xbox Wireless Adapter From Microsoft Looks Much Better

Microsoft today announced a new Xbox Wireless Adapter, the dongle that’s used for connecting an Xbox controller to a Windows PC, and if you’ve seen the previous one you’ll immediately notice that the new adapter looks so much better. The old adapter was almost two times the size of a regular USB drive. It was chunky and didn’t really look nice. The new one addresses that pain point.

Microsoft says that the new Xbox Wireless Adapter is 66 percent smaller than its predecessor and it really does look similar to a conventional USB drive. At least it doesn’t seem out of place like the previous adapter.

However, just like its predecessor, the new Xbox Wireless Adapter can support up to eight controllers simultaneously aside from four chat headsets and two stereo headsets.

The adapter is compatible with all Windows 10 PCs, laptops, and tablets. It’s listed on the Microsoft Store right now for $24.99 and will be available starting August 8th.

It’s good that Microsoft has retained the price of the adapter so customers who want to pick one up don’t have to justify the increased cost to themselves.

All they have to do right now is head over to Microsoft’s online store and pre-order the new Xbox Wireless Adapter and then wait for it to ship come August 8th.
