SousVide Supreme Touch+ Makes Cooking More Hi-Tech

The thing about more traditional methods of cooking is that for those who aren’t as experienced, it is very easy to overcook a nice piece of steak, or undercook a piece of fish. This is where sous vide comes in, where the idea is that by cooking food at a slow and constant temperature, it will allow you to reach the optimal doneness without worry about over or undercooking.

If you are considering giving sous vide cooking a try, you might be interested to learn that the SousVide Supreme Touch+ by Eades Appliance Technology has been launched on Kickstarter. For those who are familiar with the SousVide Supreme, this model is basically an upgrade over the previous model and will come with more hi-tech features, such as WiFi connectivity, an accompanying app, and will even work with digital assistants like Amazon’s Alexa.

While the previous models featured a black lid to cover the food while it is immersed in the water, the SousVide Supreme Touch+ will feature a clear top which means that you will be able to see your food while it cooks. We suppose that’s not really necessary but it is a nice touch for those who want it.

The SousVide Supreme Touch+ is not the first connected sous vide machine as there are others like the Anova and Joule that offer similar features, so at the end of the day it depends on your preferences and also the price, in which the SousVide Supreme Touch+ will retail at $599, but if you pledge your support now there will be an early bird price of $299 which makes it pretty affordable.

Bluetooth Battery Indicators Could Soon Be Coming To Android

For the most part, device makers of Bluetooth accessories and peripherals usually include battery indicator lights or levels. This is because no one likes to find out halfway that they’re suddenly out of juice, but the good news is that even if your device doesn’t come with battery indicators, it could soon be a feature of Android.

Recently the folks at XDA have been digging around the Android Open Source Project and according to their findings, Bluetooth battery indicators could become a feature of Android. This means that being able to check all your Bluetooth device battery levels in one shot could soon be possible, meaning that you won’t need to check them one by one, or in cases with devices that don’t display battery levels, play a guessing game.

However we should point out that this feature isn’t exactly new. There have been handset OEMs who have included such features in their devices, like Samsung for example, but with this inclusion in AOSP, it means that for those running stock Android like Nexus or Pixel devices, they will be able to look forward to these features in the future. When exactly will this feature be released is also unclear, but perhaps we could see it in the next major Android release which is Android 8.0 O.

Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 Coming To The Nintendo Switch

If you’re hoping to see a Resident Evil title arrive for the Nintendo Switch, you might have been a bit bummed when earlier this year, the game’s producer ruled out launching Resident Evil for the Switch. However Capcom had recently revealed that they were working on more titles for the platform, and Resident Evil has been revealed to be some of them.

Capcom has recently confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 will be coming to the Switch. No word on a release date yet, but Capcom states that it will most likely be later in 2017. Granted this isn’t Resident Evil 7 which we’re sure many gamers have been hoping for, but we guess it is a start.

However given that Resident Evil Revelations was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console, we guess seeing it arrive for the Switch shouldn’t really be too surprising. Seeing Resident Evil 7 on the other hand would be much more of a surprise, but who knows what the future holds?

Capcom has also announced that Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 will be released on the 29th of August for the PS4 and Xbox One, so it looks like Sony and Microsoft will be getting their hands on the game first. In the meantime you can check out the launch trailer for the game in the video above.

Minecraft’s ‘Better Together’ Update Enters Into Beta Testing

Back in June during E3 2017, Microsoft and Mojang announced that Minecraft would be getting an update called “Better Together”. Ultimately what will be happening in this update is that Minecraft would be getting cross-platform support, which means that regardless of which platform you are playing on, you will be able to play with other Minecraft gamers.

The good news is that it looks like the update is rolling out as we speak, but unfortunately for now it is still in beta, but we guess it’s a start. It is also only available for those on Windows 10 PCs and Android devices, but we expect that it will eventually expand to cover all the platforms that Minecraft is available on. It is stated that the beta should find its way onto the Xbox One soon, but no word on the Switch or iOS devices.

However we should point out that for the most part, the update will be applicable to all platforms that Minecraft is available on, save for Sony’s PlayStation 4. According to Sony’s explanation for why they are not supporting cross-play, it is because they feel like by doing so, there are certain things out of their control, such as being able to protect their younger audiences, which is something they’ll be able to do better within the PlayStation universe.

It is a fair point, although it is a bit of a pity since right now the PS4 is the only platform that will not be part of the cross-play support, but who knows, maybe Sony could change their minds in the future.

Your Social Media Could Soon Be Used To Detect Tax Evasion

It is often said that we shouldn’t believe everything we see on social media because it is usually staged and posed to sometimes make ourselves look better than reality. However it could soon be used by government officials in India to determine if someone might be living beyond their means, and whether or not it could be that it is because they are evading taxes.

Starting from next month, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram will become sources of data for government officials to try and ascertain if residents are evading taxes, which can sometimes be uncovered by how they live their lives. For example someone who declares $2,000 a month in salary but yet somehow manages to fly first-class and sport luxury branded goods does seem suspicious.

Of course this isn’t exactly a science, and if they are gifts from rich friends or relatives, we’re sure that it can all be proven and settled, but for those who live beyond their declared means, it will be something they’ll have to keep an eye out for. Amit Maheshwari, managing partner at accountancy firm Ashok Maheshwary and Associates near New Delhi also suggests that this could end harassment from tax officials.

Maheshwary was quoted as saying, “Data analytics is the way forward for tax administrations across the world. This will also put an end to harassment by tax officials as there will be no public interface. Perceived randomness in scrutiny will come to an end.”
