Reddit Is Redesigning Itself To Look More lIke Facebook And Twitter

Reddit, a website which bills itself as the frontpage of the internet certainly looks like it might have been designed by Microsoft FrontPage. It is a functional design but compared to today’s more modern websites, it does feel kind of old and outdated. However that is expected to change in the future as the website is undergoing a redesign.

According to a report from Recode, Reddit is working on changing the way its website looks and feels. This is according to the company’s CEO Steve Huffman who was quoted as saying, “We have a lot of perception debt. Reddit feels old. We don’t want to be associated with old.” While the final design has yet to be unveiled, Recode notes that based on what they have seen so far, it feels similar to what Facebook and Twitter are offering in terms of content being displayed in a timeline format.

Huffman adds, “We want Reddit to be more visually appealing, so when new users come to Reddit they have a better sense of what’s there, what it’s for.” Whether or not this redesign will be successful remains to be seen. A report from MIT Review published several years ago had suggested that one of the reasons Digg, one of Reddit’s main rivals back in the day, had failed was because of the site’s redesigns that eventually made it harder for its users to find and share information.

While Reddit’s design might be old and outdated, it seems to work and its core users are familiar with the overall layout. In any case only time will tell if Reddit’s redesign will be the evolution it needs, but so far there has not been any set date for when this redesigned Reddit will launch.

First Look At Domino In Deadpool 2

Following the successful launch of Deadpool, a sequel to the film was confirmed. Things are definitely coming along nicely as not only has Josh Brolin been cast as Cable, but it was also later revealed that we would be seeing a new character added to the film in the form of Domino who would be played by Zazie Beetz.

For those wondering what Domino might look like in the movie, you’ll be interested to learn that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has recently tweeted out an image which shows Beetz in her full Domino getup. If you’re wondering why this scene looks so familiar, it is because Beetz/Domino is posed the same way as Deadpool did for the first movie, which is pretty funny (also see who she is lying on top of).

That being said, fans of the movie or the Deadpool comics will still have a bit of waiting to do. Deadpool 2 is currently scheduled for a release on the 1st of June, 2018 so we still have a little over a year of waiting left. A teaser trailer was released several months ago although it doesn’t really give us much, except maybe a bit of trolling in the way Deadpool does best.

The movie will also not be seeing director Tim Miller return. Instead David Leitch will be the one directing the movie, who for those unfamiliar, Leitch is the director behind movies such as John Wick and Atomic Blonde, so hopefully those kick ass fighting scenes we saw in those movies will be carried over to Deadpool 2.

Motorola Responds To Moto Z2 Force Screen Scratching Easily

The Moto Z2 Force was recently announced and one of the highlights of the phone is its ShatterShield screen, which as its name suggests means that the phone, should it be dropped, will not see its screen crack/shatter. Unfortunately it seems that such protection comes as a cost, and that cost is a screen that scratches easily.

According to reports, like those posted by Android Police, it seems that using a fingernail is more than enough to scratch the phone’s display. The report reads, “On the Z2 Force, a fingernail is enough to scratch the display. This is not true of last year’s Z Force. I can’t think of any reason Motorola would downgrade the materials, but that’s what it did.”

When reached out to comment, Motorola sent a statement to the folks at Pocketnow which reads, “Shatterproof does not mean scratchproof, and scratches can subjective. Motorola encourages the use of a third-party screen protector for added scratch resistance.” The company also states that for this year’s design, they opted for a 3D design to make it more competitive with other devices. They also state that the review units were the first production, and that they plan to improve on it in future builds.

“That being said, we will continue to evolve the design for continuous improvement. The unit you received was one of the very first production units and we do have an improvement in the works that consumers will see shortly after launch.” We’re not sure how widespread this problem, but either way if you do plan on buying the Moto Z2 Force, like Motorola suggests, maybe investing in a screen protector might be a good idea.

Lyft Launches ‘Minnie Van’ Service At Walt Disney World

Lyft has been working on quite a few partnerships in recent times. For example not too long ago they announced a partnership with Taco Bell where passengers in Lyft vehicles can opt to stop by a Taco Bell during their ride if they choose to. Now it looks like Lyft and Disney are partnering up with the launch of Minnie Vans.

According to Lyft’s announcement, “Starting today, guests of select Walt Disney World Resorts can open the Lyft app to get a fast and friendly ride with a new transportation pilot. With this new Minnie Van service, guests will be whisked away to wherever they want to be at Walt Disney World® Resort. This service accommodates up to six guests and provides two versatile car seats so even the tiniest of passengers can travel in style.”

At the moment this pilot program will only be available to guests staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, but perhaps it will be expanded in the future. It does seem like a novel idea, but if you do intended on visiting these locations and want a more convenient/fun way of traveling, perhaps you could look into this service offered by Lyft.

Native Ad Blocker For Chrome On Android Spotted In Developer Build

For a company who makes a lot of money by selling ad spaces to companies looking to advertise their products, you imagine our surprise when we learnt earlier this year that Google could be baking in an ad blocker into its Chrome browser. We weren’t quite sure when the feature would be debuting, but it could be soon.

According to a report by TechCrunch, it seems that the native ad blocking feature has appeared in the developer build of Chrome for Android, which you can see in the screenshot to the right where there is an option to block ads under the Settings menu. The feature was originally discovered by Carsten Knobloch and later confirmed by TechCrunch.

Now clearly Google is not going to block all ads since that means they would be reducing the reasons for companies to advertise on their platform. Instead Google is expected to release a set of guidelines on the ad formats that companies should use, which are supposedly less “annoying” and won’t want to make users block them.

For example if every site you visited had popup ads and ads that automatically played music in the background, wouldn’t you find those annoying? In any case there is no word on when the feature will be rolled out to the rest of Chrome users, but presumably with it spotted in the developer build, we won’t have to wait much longer.
