Equifax has been heavily criticized over its decision to use a separate website for its data breach info, and it just demonstrated the reason why: it is easy for people to get the address mixed up with other similar websites set up by scammers or anyone else. Some Equifax team members were spotted erroneously pointing concerned people to a phishing … Continue reading

iOS 11 VS iOS 10.3.3 In Speed Test
Posted in: Today's ChiliWith every major iOS release, Apple touts various improvements made to speed and performance as one of the reasons why users should update. If you’re wondering about that yourself, the folks at EverythingApplePro have put together a video that demonstrates the speed of iOS 11 compared to the previous release, iOS 10.3.3.
The best part is that the speed test is conducted across all the iPhones, or at least all iPhones that are eligible for the update. This means that even if you’re using an older iPhone, you should be able to see how iOS 11 handles compared to the previous iOS 10.3.3 update, and whether or not it is worth upgrading.
Now right off the bat it is obvious that iOS 11 performs the best on the newer devices like the iPhone 7, simply because the handset features more RAM and also a new quad-core processor. However interestingly enough despite being tested on older devices like the iPhone SE, it seems that while iOS 11 will lag in some areas compared to iOS 10.3.3, the differences aren’t too obvious, meaning that it isn’t as if your phone would end up being completely unusable.
Of course your mileage may vary depending on the condition of your phone and the type of apps you plan to do and the features you want to take advantage of, but either watch the video above and decide for yourself whether or not the new features and changes in iOS 11 is worth updating to.

With the iPhone X introducing facial recognition technology in the form of Face ID, many are curious to see if the feature will indeed live up to the hype, or whether it will end up falling flat. However it seems that the introduction of Face ID has also had an impact for others, such as facial recognition startups who are claiming renewed interest in their technology.
We have seen similar effects in the past, like when Apple introduced Touch ID, it definitely created a boom in the industry and saw many other companies introduce fingerprint scanning tech in their phones, which is why it isn’t surprising to see the same happening with facial recognition systems.
According to George Brostoff, chief executive officer of SensibleVision Inc., “We now have a leader like Apple acknowledging that this makes sense. This makes companies like Motorola, like LG come knocking on the doors of companies like ours.” That being said, we suppose we’ll have to wait and see how Face ID performs before we see other phones start incorporating similar features.
After all while Touch ID might have been a success at introducing fingerprint scanning tech to phones, 3D Touch did not have the same success with pressure-sensitive displays. There was a lot of hype but the feature never did quite become as mainstream as Apple would have liked.

Just the other day we reported that thanks to a huge leak shared by Droid-Life, it seemed that Google has quite a few product announcements they will be making in the coming weeks. One of those leaks revealed that Google has a new Google Home speaker in the works in the form of the Google Home Mini, which might have been confirmed by an FCC filing.
According to the FCC filing, it mentions a “media streaming device” that based on a circular base diagram with a regulatory label, it looks like it could fit the Google Home Mini perfectly, that is unless this is for something else entirely. 9to5Google notes that the filing also mentions that this label will be adhered to the device using strong pressure-sensitive glue, which they speculate is one of the cost-cutting measures that the company is employing.
This is because unlike the more expensive Google Home, the Mini version is said to only cost $49 which is pretty affordable. The filing also reveals that the device will sport Bluetooth and WiFi radios which isn’t surprising for a set of smart speakers. In any case this is actually not the first time that we’re hearing that a smaller Google Home could be in the works.
Google is expected to host an event on the 4th of October where their new Pixel 2 phones will be announced, but like we said the recent Droid-Life leak has revealed that there will be more than phones shown off at the event.

Yesterday thanks to photos shared by Droid-Life, we managed to get a pretty good look at the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets. However the photos only showed the back of the phone and not the front or its sides, but a recent photo obtained by 9to5Google has shown off the bottom of the phone and confirmed a feature (or lack of a feature).
As you can see in the photo above, whose background and surroundings have been blurred to protect 9to5Google’s source, the base of the phone shows a small hole which is presumably for the microphone, and a charging cable, and what appears to be missing is the 3.5mm headphone jack.
We’ve actually heard rumors in the past that the new Pixel phones could be ditching the headphone jack, and this new photo seems to prove it, or at least lends more credibility to the rumors. However it should be noted that because the rumors are claiming that Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be made by HTC and LG respectively, it is unclear if the ditching of the headphone jack is for just the Pixel 2 or for both devices.
We know that this move is definitely not looked upon favorably by many users who feel that cutting the cord might be a bit premature, but either way we should have the official details come 4th of October which is when the phones will be announced.

If there is one thing about the Street Fighter series that we’ve noticed is that Capcom seems to love creating many versions of a particular release, which can be admittedly confusing for fans or those new to the series. However it seems that this won’t be changing anytime soon because Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition has been spotted.
In a listing on ShopTo’s website (via Eurogamer), the retailer has suggested that Capcom might have an “Arcade Edition” of Street Fighter 5 in the works that is set for a release on the 16th of January, 2018. One could argue that ShopTo is simply speculating, but the date does seem to be awfully specific. The listing has since been removed which suggests that either it was made in error, or ShopTo shared something that they shouldn’t have prematurely.
At the moment it is unclear as to what the Arcade Edition entails, but it has been speculated that it will be a game-of-the-year kind of release where the game along with all of its DLCs will be released in a single bundle, as well as potential new features like an arcade mode, making it easier for gamers who don’t own the game to get right into the thick of things.
It is expected that Capcom could announce the title at the Tokyo Game Show, so do check back with us later to see if there are any additional details to be had.
