Netflix For The Nintendo Switch Reportedly Ready, Awaiting For Approval

When the Nintendo Switch was announced, the way the console was designed made it look like a pretty obvious candidate for various entertainment apps since the console could be brought with gamers on the go. However at the time of announcement, Nintendo said that apps like Netflix would come in time, suggesting that gamers could be in for a wait.

However it turns out that maybe gamers might not have to wait much longer because in a report from GoNintendo, one of their readers KamehamehaX has apparently spoken to a Netflix rep who told them that Netflix for the Switch is “locked and loaded” and that all that remains is approval by Nintendo.

It seems that Netflix has been trying to get permission from Nintendo to launch on the Switch for a while now, and that everything is ready and all Nintendo needs is to give it the greenlight and it will be good to go. We have no idea why Nintendo might be holding back their approval, but since neither Netflix nor Nintendo have officially said anything yet, take it with a grain of salt for now.

However a launch on the Switch would indeed help to draw more players onto the platform since it would show that the console could be used to do more than just play games, like Sony and Microsoft’s offerings in which users can stream music, videos, chat with friends, and more.

Toys “R” Us Will Have The SNES Classic Available At Launch

As you might have heard, established toy retailer Toys “R” Us has recently filed for bankruptcy, but it seems that despite the company filing for bankruptcy, operations will continue as per normal. In fact according to a report from Polygon, the company has confirmed to the publication that they will actually be selling the SNES Classic on launch day itself.

The rep was quoted as saying, “Stores will open at normal time and have limited inventory of the console, so we encourage customers to get in line before doors open on Friday morning for the chance to scoop up this hot item.” This is in line with what Toys “R” Us had previously stated, in which they expect that operations will continue to proceed as per normal for the time being.

The SNES Classic was announced earlier this year and is the successor to the NES Classic that was discontinued last year. The console is expected to sell like hotcakes and Toys “R” Us had actually confirmed back in August that they would not be taking pre-orders, so for those who want to get their hands on the console via the retailer, it will be a first-come-first-serve basis.

However despite the SNES Classic expected to be a hot ticket item, Nintendo has stated that production of the console will continue through 2018 as opposed to just 2017. Nintendo also stated that the NES Classic will be making a comeback, so hopefully there will be enough supply to meet the demand of gamers.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Could Be Released This October

While there have been quite a few good movies released this year, it’s safe to say that many are highly-anticipating the next Star Wars film, which is “The Last Jedi” and is set for a release at the end of the year. So far we’ve seen the teaser trailer which honestly did nothing to sate our curiosity, but a full trailer might not be too far off.

It seems that actor Mark Hamill might have accidentally revealed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s trailer could be coming in October. Hamill responded to a tweet by a fan in which he suggested that the person watches Monday Night Football on the 9th of October “for no reason in particular”. As if this wasn’t cryptic enough, the fact that Hamill deleted the tweet later suggested that it might have some credibility attached to it.

Hamill later tried to backtrack on his earlier tweet by tweeting that he “has no idea” and that “Disney will announce when they are ready”. It is entirely possible that Hamill might have been trolling us with that earlier tweet, although it would be rather mean of him to do so. In any case Polygon notes that a release on the 9th of October makes sense as The Force Awakens trailer was also released around the same time.

Also given that Disney owns ABC and ESPN, it makes sense that the trailers could be released on either network as well. Either way try not to get your hopes up, but hopefully this proves to be true.

Twitter Rolling Out ‘Popular Articles’ Feature On Its Mobile App

It used to be that there were apps dedicated to news in which we could get our stories and articles from. While such platforms still exist, social media is another medium in which we can discover stories that are trending that are being shared by our friends and family members, and it this aspect that Twitter wants to leverage.

The company has recently rolled out a new feature for its iOS and Android apps called “Popular Articles” and as the name suggests, this will show users articles that are popular at the moment that are being shared or discussed by people you follow. This new feature has since been confirmed by Twitter to BuzzFeed News.

According to their report, “The Popular Articles feature is just what it sounds like — a list of stories people you follow on Twitter are currently tweeting about, or otherwise engaging with. It also shows links to articles popular in your particular location.” This isn’t the first time that Twitter has explored when trying to figure out new ways to make its platform more useful to its users.

However as BuzzFeed News points out, the new feature is similar to a third-party app called Nuzzel which more or less does the same thing, but if you prefer native/integrated features, then perhaps this could be worth checking out.

Apple Looking Into Apple Watch Series 3 LTE Connectivity Issues

The Apple Watch Series 3 was announced a little over a week ago where one of the key features of the device was its LTE connectivity. This would ultimately free its users from having to tether to their iPhone which would make it more flexible when it came to using during exercise outside.

Unfortunately it seems that the Apple Watch Series 3 has run into some issues ahead of it shipping out to customers. This is according to a report from The Verge who was reviewing a unit ahead of its release and discovered that the Apple Watch would connect to unknown WiFi networks versus connecting to cellular when out and about.

Apple then replaced the unit with a new one, but the problems persisted in which Apple has since issued a statement on the matter. According to the Apple spokesperson, “We have discovered that when Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular. We are investigating a fix for a future software release.”

Given that Apple did not provide an estimate for this update’s release, this means that there is a chance that when the Apple Watch Series 3 is released, which is this Friday, some users could encounter the problem, but we guess at least the problem was caught before it was released, which gives Apple a couple more days to try and rectify it.
