Toxic Overwatch Xbox One Players Will Have Voice Chat Disabled

Toxic behavior from players when it comes to multiplayer games aren’t new and to be honest it is to be expected. However companies like Blizzard have been trying out various ways to deal with such players, whether it be taking tougher stances and reporting features, and it looks like they might have come up with another solution: muting these players.

In the game’s latest patch that was released recently, it seems that Overwatch players on the Xbox One will no longer have to listen to other toxic players. This is because the patch will now disable voice chat for players who have been marked as “Avoid Me” on Xbox Live. This means that these players will not be able to voice chat with other players, which could potentially reduce some of the abuse.

According to Blizzard, “Players whose Xbox Live reputation has been downgraded to ‘Avoid Me’ will remain in the same matchmaking pool as other Overwatch players. However, they will no longer be able to use the in-game voice communication.” Prior to this, gamers who had the “Avoid Me” reputation could still use voice chat, but were put into their own matchmaking pool which resulted in higher matchmaking times.

With this change, these players will now be back in the same matchmaking pool as the rest, just that they’ll be muted when it comes to voice chat. Whether or not this will improve the game remains to be seen, but it is clear that Blizzard is annoyed by having to deal with toxic behavior as they have previously said that this ultimately slows down updates that they can make to the game.

Hidden Switch ‘Golf’ Game Could Be A Tribute To The Late Satoru Iwata

Recently it was discovered that on every Nintendo Switch console there is a hidden game in the form of the NES classic “Golf”. Its existence was unclear and led to a bit of speculation, such as whether an NES emulator could be eventually launched for the console, but as it turns out the reason could be a lot more touching than you think.

In an update on the SwitchBrew.org website, user yellows8 who made the initial discovery stated that it seems that the game could be an Easter Egg of sorts, and also a tribute to the late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata who passed away back in 2015. According to yellows8, the game can only be launched on the 11th of July which was Iwata’s date of passing, and that the Joy-Cons must be held the same way that Iwata typically holds his hands during Nintendo’s presentations.

Note that because the time and date on the Switch is server side, users trying to adjust the clock manually won’t work, meaning that if you missed out on checking out the game this year, you’ll have to wait until 2018 to try again, although there could be a way to bypass it as there have been some videos uploaded online showing users activating it.

As to the significance of the Golf game, apparently this is a game that was programmed by Iwata himself back at his time in the HAL Laboratory, so it makes sense that they chose this game to pay tribute. Nintendo has yet to confirm this particular theory, but it does make sense and we have to admit that if true, it is a very clever and touching tribute indeed.

Official Tomb Raider Movie Trailer Released

So we’ve known that a new Tomb Raider movie is in the works. The movie was announced last year and is a reboot to the existing Tomb Raider movie franchise which previously starred Angelina Jolie, and in a way it is meant to mirror the reboot to the video game franchise which is said to feature a grittier and more vulnerable Lara Croft.

The movie’s official poster and teaser trailer was released yesterday and the good news for Tomb Raider fans is that the official trailer for the movie has since been released onto YouTube. The trailer gives us a good look at what we can expect from the upcoming flick, which from what we can tell looks a lot like the game.

It will star Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, along with the likes of Daniel Wu, Walton Goggins, and Dominic West. So far the trailer looks pretty promising, but then again we have seen movie trailers for video games that showed just as much promise, only to bomb terribly upon their release. Will Tomb Raider manage to break the mold? We suppose the remains to be seen.

The movie is currently set for a release on the 16th of March, 2018, and if you have a couple of minutes to spare, check out the trailer above for a sneak peek.
