Apple Music on Android gets social, adds voice support

It’s expected that Apple has no love for Android. Its very first Android app was, in fact, a tool to help Android users switch to iOS. It was almost a miracle that it would bring Apple Music to Android, and an even bigger miracle that it would implement big new features. And yet that’s exactly what happened in the latest … Continue reading

The Xbox One X Is Now Available For Pre-Order

Just last month Microsoft announced that fans of the Xbox console could pre-order the Xbox One X Scorpio Edition, which is basically the Xbox One X that came with a tiny green Scorpio logo on it. If you missed out on that, not to worry because Microsoft has since announced that the standard Xbox One X is now available for pre-order.

For those unfamiliar, the Xbox One X is Microsoft’s latest console. The console was actually announced last year where it was known as Project Scorpio, but it was only earlier this year that it was unveiled in full. The console will be Microsoft’s most powerful Xbox console to date and one of its key features is the ability to play games in native 4K.

The console is priced at $500 which is admittedly rather pricey, and given that Microsoft had to cut the prices on the Xbox One after it was launched to help boost sales, many are wondering if the $500 price tag might be too dear, however if the Scorpio Edition console’s pre-orders are any indication, it seems that gamers aren’t too fazed by it.

Microsoft is boasting that there are more than 130 new and existing games that have been optimized for the Xbox One X system, and we expect that number will grow over time, but for now gamers will have quite a few games to pick from. The Xbox One X is expected to begin shipping to customers on the 7th of November.

Amazon Reportedly Working On Alexa-Powered Smart Glasses

When Google showed off the Google Glass, many were amazed at the possibilities of the headset, although at that time it seemed that Google might have been a bit early to the market and the public just wasn’t ready. However fast forward a few years later, it seems that smart glasses could be catching on.

We’ve seen how Snap’s Spectacles has been launched with great success, and we are also hearing that companies like Apple could be working on something of their own. Now a report from the Financial Times (paywall; via The Verge) is claiming that Amazon could also be interested and are working on a pair of Alexa-powered smart glasses.

While Amazon might be known to many as retailer, the company has dabbled in a variety of gadgets in the past such as smartphones, tablets, and speakers, just to name a few, but if the report is true, these smart glasses could be Amazon’s first attempt at a wearable. The glasses in question is said to have been designed to resemble a regular pair of glasses and will use bone conduction technology which will do away with the need for headphones or speakers.

It will also not come with a screen or camera (which is good news for privacy-advocates), although we’re not sure that without a screen what would be the point, since Alexa-powered headphones could do exactly the same thing. Perhaps there is more to this than what the report let on, but take it with a grain of salt for now.

Safari 11 Released For macOS Sierra And El Capitan Devices

About a week ago Apple confirmed that its next OS update, macOS High Sierra, would be released to Mac users on the 25th of September. One of the features of macOS High Sierra would be a new version of Safari, but the good news is that if you wanted to take the new Safari for a spin, you can now do so.

Apple has recently released Safari 11 for both macOS Sierra and El Capitan computers, meaning that users will not have to update to High Sierra to take advantage of Safari 11’s new features. These new features includes improvements to user privacy in which cookies can no longer track users across multiple websites, improved compatibility, security, and more.

It will also come with a feature that will stop media from automatically playing on most websites, so if you hate websites that autoplay video and audio and aren’t a Chrome user or have third-party extensions installed, then this is a feature that you might be able to appreciate. The update is now live via the Mac App Store so head on over for the update if you haven’t done so already.

Like we said Safari 11 is part of the macOS High Sierra update so if you want, you could always wait until then to check it out. The update to High Sierra is free anyway and will introduce a bunch of improvements and new features as well, so that could also be worth taking a look at.
