To date, Amazon’s devices with hands-free voice control have been decidedly static. At last, though, they can go where you do. The internet shopping giant is launching an updated Fire HD 10, and it’s the company’s first tablet with hands-free Alexa b…
As is tradition, PlayStation kicked off Tokyo Game Show by showcasing most of its announcements days before the full show actually starts. Besides a bunch of limited-edition PS4 and PS4 Pros of varying levels of desirability, we had some remakes, a n…

Winter might just be a couple of months away, but the forecast here for tomorrow is 87 degrees and a gazillion percent humidity. With conditions like that, you need to keep cool. Sure, your office or home probably has an air conditioner, but sometimes a direct breeze is what you really need, especially on humid days. This little desk accessory is just what the doctor ordered.
Measuring in at just 5″ square, the Little Big Fan plugs into your computer’s USB port or a USB charger, and pushes out a surprisingly good amount of air for its size. On really hot days, you could even try blowing it over a dampened brick to make your own impromptu desktop air conditioner. It’s available in white, aqua or millennial pink, though I’m pretty sure you don’t have to have been born between 1982 and 2004 to enjoy that color – you just need to be girly.
You can chill out with the Little Big Fan over at Perpetual Kid for just $19.99(USD).
So you’ve been freezing to death on the surface of Hoth, and spent the night sleeping inside of the smelly guts of your tauntaun pal to keep warm. Now that you’re done with your near-death experience, you’ve got to do something with that carcass, right? I’m not sure if tauntaun meat tastes good, but you could at least take its head and mount it on your wall to remember your frozen night in the belly of the beast.
The guys at prop shop Imagemotor make this epic life-size replica of a tauntaun’s head, ready to mount over your mantle piece. The furry guy measures in at a whopping 34″ tall by 19″ wide by 19″ deep, but weighs just 30 pounds. It’s made from cast high density foam, wrapped in faux fur, cast resin horns, and comes topped off with fake snow. While that might not be what a real tauntaun is made from, this one definitely won’t stink up the place.
All of this tauntaun goodness doesn’t come cheap, though. You’re looking at $1999.95(USD) if you want to hang one on your wall. That may be expensive, but it’s way less expensive than a flight to Hoth – at least the last time I checked Travelocity.
If you’re worried about who’s ringing your doorbell and who might have come to your front door while you are not home, there are quite a few camera options out there in the market today, such as the Nest Cam Outdoor, but if you’re looking for something a bit different, August might have you covered as well.
The company has recently announced the August Doorbell Cam Pro which is a smart doorbell combined with a camera. According to the company, “The August Doorbell Cam Pro notifies you when anyone rings the doorbell or when motion is detected. You’re able to see and speak to visitors at your front door through the August app, even when you’re not home.”
This is essentially an upgrade over its predecessor and will also come with a built-in floodlight for color night-time videos. It also comes with a feature that starts recording a few seconds before motion is detected so it gives users a bit of context as to what might have happened before.
As is the case with August’s smart home devices, the Doorbell Cam Pro is said to be easy to install with a USB dock for setting it up and a new bracket that makes it easy to wire and mount it. The announcement of the August Doorbell Cam Pro was made alongside the company’s new Smart Lock and Smart Lock Pro devices for the home.

Toys “R” Us Files For Bankruptcy
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhile plenty of huge retail chains out there sell toys for kids, it’s hard not to associate toys with retailer Toys “R” Us, who we’re sure many of our readers have had fond memories of when growing up, especially since the retailer managed to expand to various parts of the world including Europe and Asia.
Unfortunately it looks like things aren’t going so well for the company as Toys “R” Us has recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Many reports are suggesting that this is a result of the more traditional style and operations of retailers is starting to give away to more modern methods of retailing which is done online, such as through online giants like Amazon who is actually in the process of becoming even bigger with its recent acquisition of Whole Foods.
In a statement made by the company’s Chief Executive Officer David Brandon, “Together with our investors, our objective is to work with our debtholders and other creditors to restructure the $5 billion of long-term debt on our balance sheet, which will provide us with greater financial flexibility to invest in our business, continue to improve the customer experience in our physical stores and online, and strengthen our competitive position in an increasingly challenging and rapidly changing retail marketplace worldwide.”
However the good news for customers is that despite filing for bankruptcy, it doesn’t look like they’re ready to shut down their stores just yet. In fact stores are expected to continue operating with the bankruptcy filing only being applicable to the company’s operations in the US, where operations in Europe will not be impacted, nor will its operations in Australia or those in Asia which are done through a joint venture partnership.

Announced at E3 2017 a few months ago, Capcom has recently confirmed that the upcoming Monster Hunter: World will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles on the 26th of January 2018. Just like the previous announcement, the release on consoles will be taking place first and the release for the PC will be at a later date which has yet to be specified.

The Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $70 and “includes the digital game, plus additional customizable options that can be used in-game: a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter.”
As for the Collector’s Edition, it will retail for $150 and “includes a physical copy of the game, voucher for the additional customizable options from the Digital Deluxe Edition (a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter), a 32 page hardcover art book, high-quality flagship monster statue, and digital soundtrack code all bundled in a custom collector’s box.”

On the surface the Xbox controller seems like a very standard gaming controller, but it looks like it is good enough for the US Navy to use. It seems that according to reports (via Engadget), the US Navy is expected to start equipping their Virginia-class submarines with Xbox controllers not for gaming, but for use to steer the submarine’s periscope.
Prior to this, the submarines relied on Lockheed Martin’s joystick controller which consisted of a joystick and a control panel that costs around $38,000. However despite the price tag and sophistication, it was apparently not particularly easy to use and required users to undergo hours of training just to learn how to use it.
Interestingly enough when the Xbox controller was tested as a potential replacement, sailors were able to figure out the controls within a few minutes, that and given that each Xbox controller costs considerably less than Lockheed Martin’s setup, this should save the US Navy money when it comes to replacements or repairs.
According to Senior Chief Mark Eichenlaub, the John Warner’s assistant navigator, “That joystick is by no means cheap, and it is only designed to fit on a Virginia-class submarine. I can go to any video game store and procure an Xbox controller anywhere in the world, so it makes a very easy replacement.”

About a week ago Apple confirmed that the iOS 11 update would be released on the 19th of September, and sure enough it has. For those who own compatible iOS devices, you will be pleased to learn that the update will be available for download today, so you can wait for your iOS device to prompt you, or you can go to your phone’s Settings -> General -> Software Update and try and pull it manually.
However if you don’t see it yet, you might have to wait since we expect that the rollout to all the markets around the world could take a while, so maybe give it a couple of hours and try again, but regardless its availability is still set for today. iOS 11 is the latest iOS update for iPhones and iPads and is the successor to last year’s iOS 10.
It will introduce a bunch of new features, such as a redesigned Control Center, a redesigned App Store, a new file manager (finally) that will allow iOS users to better manage their files, and there’s even a new Do Not Disturb mode that can be automatically be enabled while driving and can send automated replies to users during that time.
It will also feature an improved Siri and a new feature for Apple Pay that will let users send money to each other, although as previously noted this particular feature is only expected to arrive this fall.
