Bose QuietComfort 35 II Spotted At Best Buy, Could Go On Sale Soon

Recently we have been hearing reports that Bose might have a new pair of headphones in the works in the form of the Quiet Comfort 35 II. What makes these headphones interesting is that they are said to feature Google Assistant built into them and is rumored to be part of Google’s “Bisto” lineup of devices which we have been hearing about.

Turns out that the headphones are not only real, but could go on sale soon because in a recent tweet by Jeremy Judkins, it seems that he has spotted the Bose QC 35 II at a Best Buy outlet, complete with the mention of Google Assistant’s integration. However despite it being put on display, Best Buy’s system would not allow the headphones to be sold and priced it at $350.

So when will the headphones be released? According to a report from 9to5Google, they made inquiries and was told by Best Buy employees that the headphones would be going on sale this coming Friday, the 22nd of September. It is an interesting choice of a date because it was widely speculated that the headphones could have been announced on the 4th of October at Google’s Pixel 2 event.

However we suppose Bose could launch the headphones early and Google could simply mention it again at the event, although it would no longer be a surprise by then.

Researchers Develop AI That Can Detect Alzheimer’s Early

While a full on cure for Alzheimer’s has yet to be discovered, researchers are making progress when it comes to early detection. This will allow patients to seek out treatment that can help slow down the effects of the disease, or at least give them more time to get their affairs in order and prepare for the inevitable.

Recently it seems that researchers at the University of Bari in Italy have made some pretty impressive progress when it comes to early detection, and with the use of AI, it seems that they have managed to develop an algorithm that is capable of detect Alzheimer’s as early as a decade before symptoms can appear.

What the researchers have done is that they have given their AI 67 MRI scans from 38 Alzheimer’s patients, and an additional 29 from those without it. The scans were then further divided into small regions and the AI was then used to analyze the neural connectivity between them. They then put the AI to the test by scanning the brains of 148 subjects, 48 of whom had Alzheimer’s, while another 48 had mild cognitive impairments that later led to Alzheimer’s.

The AI was successful in its diagnosis 86% of the time when it came to Alzheimer’s, and 84% of the time when it came to mild cognitive impairments. The system is far from ready to be used for mainstream purposes due to the limited number of scans it was tested on, but so far it seems that it shows quite a bit of promise.

Face ID Concerns Will Be Addressed Once The iPhone X Is Released

Face ID in theory and on paper sounds like it has the chops to blow the competition out of the way. However initial hands-on previews of the feature have created some doubts in people’s minds as to whether or not this feature is what Apple has hyped it up to be, or if we could be looking at another Siri-like situation, where it sounds good in theory but not so good in real-life.

However it seems that Apple is pretty confident about Face ID and how those concerns people are having about the feature will disappear once they get their hands on the iPhone X. Speaking on The Talk Show (via MacRumors) with John Gruber, Apple software engineering chief Craig Federighi said that any doubts that people might have will go away when they start using the feature.

The Apple exec was quoted as saying, “Honestly, we’re just all counting the days that customers can finally get their hands on these. Because I think just like with Touch ID, initially people thought oh, ‘Apple’s done something that’s totally not going to work and I’m not a believer and I’m not gonna use this feature.’  Now everyone’s worried because they can’t imagine life without Touch ID. We’re going to see exactly the same thing with Face ID.”

Federighi does have a point about Touch ID, especially since Apple was not the first to try and install a fingerpritn scanner on a mobile device, but the speed and reliability has since resulted in fingerprint scanners being a common feature found across smartphones. However we guess we’ll just have to wait and see if Face ID will have the same effect, which will be in November when the iPhone X is released.
