Apple announced three new phones yesterday, increasing buying indecision even more than when it first offered a Plus model alongside the iPhone 6 two years ago. Over the next month or two, you’ll have to decide between the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus…

The iPhone X is a clear indication of where the smartphone industry is headed. Within two years, Apple’s entire iPhone lineup will probably consist of edge-to-edge screens with a dual-camera setup and Face ID (assuming the latter is as secure and con…
Far from the killing machines many fear, most commercial robots are tipsy contraptions that can barely see in front of them. Panasonic wants to help them out with its new 3D LiDAR specifically designed for mobile robots rather than autonomous cars. I…
Apple didn’t mention this yesterday when it was unveiling the iPhone 8 and iPhone X but it has now been detailed that both new handsets support fast charging. There is, however, a caveat. You have to use USB-C if you want to fast charge your new iPhone. Apple claims that the new handsets can recharge up to 50 percent of their battery capacity in 30 minutes.
In order to take advantage of the fast charging feature of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, customers will have to purchase an Apple USB-C charger and a Lightning cable. They will have to pay over and above what they pay for their iPhone so that they’re able to recharge 50 percent of their handset’s battery capacity in 30 minutes.
Users can not take advantage of the fast charging feature with the Lightning to USB-A cable that comes bundled with the new iPhones in the box. The USB-C to Lightning cable and the USB-C wall charger is absolutely necessary for fast charging either of the two new iPhones.
Apple sells 29W, 61W, and 87W variants of USB-C chargers with prices ranging from $49 and $70 so it’s not going to be a relatively small upfront investment for this feature.
Apple also doesn’t detail the specific numbers for each model so it’s unclear if the cheapest 29W model can charge 50 percent of the battery capacity in 30 minutes as claimed by Apple.

Microsoft revealed the latest usage figures for Microsoft Edge at its Microsoft Edge Web Summit 2017 event in Seattle today. The head of the company’s Microsoft Edge web ecosystem team Charles Morris revealed that Edge is now being used on more than 330 million active devices across the globe. Usage has almost doubled since the last time Microsoft shared figures with the public.
Microsoft Edge is the new web browser that Microsoft built from the ground up for Windows 10. It was released in July 2015 alongside Windows 10. It’s only available on the latest iteration of Windows and unlike its rivals Chrome and Firefox, it’s not available on previous iterations of Microsoft’s desktop OS.
Microsoft Edge is a power browser that leaves Internet Explorer far behind as far as compatibility and functionality is concerned. It was well received at launch and Microsoft continues to improve the browser by adding new features and making improvements to it.
Microsoft confirmed back at last year’s Edge Summit that Edge was running on 150 million active devices. The latest figure shows that usage has doubled since the last time Microsoft talked about the figures for Edge.
“A lot of improvements and a lot of new features doesn’t really mean anything if no one’s using it,” Morris said, adding that the figure represents actual users who are browsing the web using the company’s web browsers.

Apple unveiled its major software updates for Mac and iOS earlier this year at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2017. Since then, the new software has been in beta. The company is due to release it to the public in the near future. After its event yesterday, Apple confirmed when it’s going to release the next major macOS update called macOS High Sierra.
Apple confirmed during its event yesterday when it’s going to release iOS 11. The next major update for iOS devices is going to be out across the globe on September 19th.
The company didn’t mention High Sierra during its event yesterday. However, Apple has updated its website to reflect when the new update for macOS is going to be released.
The new update for Mac OS brings a handful of new features and improvements to the platform, including a new file system that should make the device feel faster if it’s configured with an SSD.
Apple has confirmed via its website that macOS High Sierra is going to be released for all compatible Mac machines on September 25th.
Just like previous Mac OS updates, High Sierra is going to be available as a free download on all supported Mac computers. It will be distributed through the Mac App Store.

Bitcoin’s recent surge has defied expectations as more and more people jump on the cryptocurrency bandwagon. It also helps that ICOs or Initial Coin Offerings have taken off. ICOs are a way for startups to raise funding through cryptocurrencies. Not everyone is bullish on Bitcoin, though. The CEO of one of the largest financial institutions on the planet believes that Bitcoin is a fraud that will eventually “blow up.”
Bitcoin’s price has taken a hit recently after China banned ICOs as it considers them a mode of illegal public financing. The comments from JPMorgan Chase’s CEO haven’t helped as well.
Speaking at the Delivering Alpha Conference this week, JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said that Bitcoin is a fraud and that it’s not a real thing.
He recently compared Bitcoin to the infamous Tulip Mania from the 1630s, saying that “It’s worse than tulip bulbs. It won’t end well. Someone is going to get killed. Currencies have legal support. It will blow up.”
Dimon has also said that he won’t tolerate Bitcoin trading within his bank. He said that he’d fire an employee the very second if they were caught trading Bitcoin as it’s against the bank’s rules.
These comments caused Bitcoin’s price to drop further, testing the $3,800 level. Just to get a sense of the price volatility, consider the fact that Bitcoin was trading around $5,000 just a few days back.
