LTE Apple Watch Will Cost $10 Per Month

Apple unveiled the much-rumored LTE Apple Watch at its event yesterday. The Apple Watch Series 3 is being offered in both LTE and Wi-Fi only models. The LTE model is going to be released in a handful of markets initially as Apple is still working with carriers across the globe to bring this product to more markets. Customers in the United States have to keep in mind that they will have to pay $10 per month for cellular service on their LTE Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE enables users to make and receive calls, send messages, and more using their existing phone number. They no longer have to carry an iPhone around with them for internet connectivity on the smartwatch.

Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile have all confirmed their pricing details for the LTE Apple Watch Series 3. Sprint hasn’t come forward with this information as yet but it’s likely going to do so in the near future.

Verizon customers will be able to add the new Apple Watch to their existing plan for an additional $10 per month. The carrier normally charges $5 per month to add a smartwatch to a plan so it’s unclear why it has increased the price for the Apple Watch.

AT&T and T-Mobile customers will both be able to add the new Apple Watch to their existing plans for an additional payment of $10 per month.

Apple is going to release its new smartwatch on September 22nd.

Star Wars: Episode IX Release Date Pushed Back

The final movie in the rebooted Star Wars trilogy has reportedly been delayed. The Star Wars: Episode IX release date was previously set in May 2019. If a new report is to be believed, Disney has pushed back the release of this movie by a few months.

The Star Wars: Episode IX release date was previously confirmed as May 24th, 2019. The final movie has been in the news quite a lot recently. It was reported a couple of weeks ago that the movie had lost its director Colin Trevorrow who had decided to step away from the project.

It was later confirmed by Disney that JJ Abrams will be returning to direct and co-write Star Wars: Episode IX. Abrams directed the first movie of this new trilogy which ended up grossing more than $2 billion worldwide.

Deadline reports that the Star Wars: Episode IX release date has now been set on December 20th, 2019. It’s similar to the pre-Christmas weekend that was selected for the first movie in this trilogy titled The Force Awakens.

Interestingly, The Force Awakens was actually supposed to be released in the summer as well before it was delayed to December after Abrams took over screenwriting for the movie along with Lawrence Kasdan. The duo needed more time so Episode VI was delayed to December.

iPhone 8 Pre-Order Times Confirmed

Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus yesterday at its first event ever at the new Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. The company confirmed when it’s going to start taking pre-orders for the new handsets. Apple has now confirmed the iPhone 8 pre-order times on its website. The pre-order times are consistent with Apple’s strategy for new iPhone models.

Customers will be able to start pre-ordering the iPhone 8 via the company’s online store at 12:01 am Pacific or 3:01 am Eastern on Friday, September 15th.

It’s normal for many iPhone fans in the United States to stay up late and pre-order the new iPhone. The timing is consistent with Apple’s previous pre-order strategies for new iPhone models so fans won’t really have any complaints about having to stay up late to pre-order an iPhone 8.

Customers will be able to place their pre-orders for the new iPhone via Apple’s online store or through the company’s Apple Store app for iPhone and iPads.

Prices for the iPhone 8 start at $699. The 64GB storage model is now the base option for new iPhone customers. The maximum amount of storage offered with the iPhone 8 is 256GB. Like all iPhones before it, the iPhone 8 doesn’t allow for external storage expansion.

Amazon Stops Selling The Fire TV

Amazon has now stopped selling its Fire TV set-top box. The move comes amid rumors that the company is going to launch new Fire TV devices in the near future. You can head over to the dedicated landing page for the product right now but you won’t be able to buy it. The Fire TV is listed as “currently unavailable.”

The online retail giant also provides no date of when the Fire TV set-top box will be back in stock. Customers can purchase a refurbished version of the Fire TV but they’re out of luck if they want a brand new Fire TV straight from Amazon.

The Fire TV has also been removed from the carousel in the Fire TV page which is yet another indication that a new Fire TV set-top box is just around the corner.

It was reported last week that Amazon has two new Fire TV devices in the pipeline. One of the new devices is said to be an HDMI dongle that works much like the Fire TV streaming stick. The second is a proper Fire TV set-top box with Alexa baked in.

Both new devices are said to have support for 4K and HDR. The stick is reportedly going to have 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It’s expected to cost between $60 and $80.

Now that it has stopped selling the Fire TV set-top box, it’s quite possible that Amazon will unveil the new products in the very near future.

Nintendo Switch online update makes voice chat slightly less awful

It isn’t exactly a secret that the online systems for Nintendo Switch launched in a sorry state. After not being present on the console at launch, features like voice chat released alongside Splatoon 2 back in July. What players were given certainly wasn’t an encouraging sign for a service that Nintendo wants us to pay for at some point in … Continue reading

iPhone 8 and X have a sort-of secret weapon in NFC

Both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X have a new feature that Apple says doesn’t come with any previous iPhone – for now. This feature is an opening up of the hardware that’s already in quite a few iPhones from the past few years, a piece of hardware that allows Apple Pay to function. I’m speaking, of course, of … Continue reading
