Nintendo Will Be Bringing Back The NES Classic In 2018

Given how difficult it was to get one’s hands on the Nintendo NES Classic when it was released, you can imagine how shocked customers were when Nintendo announced that they would be discontinuing the product. However Nintendo’s argument was that the NES Classic was never meant to be a long-term product, and it wasn’t too long that the SNES Classic was announced.

However the good news is that if you wanted to get your hands on the NES Classic, you will be able to do so in 2018. This is according to an announcement by Nintendo who revealed that they will be bringing the console back next year. In addition, they also announced that the SNES Classic, which was also meant to be another limited-production run, will continue being produced through 2018.

This seems to be in line with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime’s comments about how the company will dramatically increase the production of the console, which now we realize he could have meant that the console will be produced over the course of 2 years instead of one, which we guess does increase the amount of units that will be available.

We’re not sure if this will be a one-off thing or if the NES Classic and SNES Classic will become permanent products, but either way if you’re hoping to get either console, you should not have any problems doing so, and hopefully this will also put an end to the price gouging that we’re seeing on websites like eBay.

iPhone Wireless Charging Accessory Might Not Be Ready Yet

One of the rumored features of the upcoming 2017 iPhones is that they could finally support wireless charging. While there have been cases and accessories from third-party manufacturers that bring wireless charging support to the iPhone, 2017 is supposed to mark the time when Apple will introduce the feature natively.

Subsequent reports have also revealed that Apple is creating its own wireless charging accessory, which we suppose doesn’t really come as a surprise given how much Apple loves to control its hardware and software. Unfortunately that accessory might not be ready in time for the new iPhones, at least that’s according to a report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a morning report.

Kuo claims that Apple might not be ready to launch the accessory just yet, and it seems that we could be in for a wait. The report says that Apple has stringent requirements for the wireless charger’s RF specifications, so much so that they apparently have not committed to mass producing the accessory yet. The report goes on to add that Apple is waiting for “technological breakthroughs” before committing to mass production.

As 9to5Mac points out, Kuo’s report is supported by the fact that we have yet to see any leaks regarding this particular accessory, although there have been leaks that shows the new iPhones could contain a wireless charging component that will at the very least support Qi-compatible chargers. In any case we should find out more for ourselves later today, so check back with us then for the details.

That Infamous Monkey Selfie Lawsuit Finally Comes To An End

A couple of years ago, photographer David Slater was out and about shooting photos in the wild when a monkey by the name of Naruto took his camera and snapped what could be considered the world’s first monkey selfie. It seemed like a rather humorous moment which quickly took a turn for the worse as Slater found himself a long and drawn out legal battle over the rights of the photo.

However the good news is that it looks like the lawsuit has finally come to an end as Slater and PETA (who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Naruto) managed to reach a settlement. As part of the agreement, Slater has agreed to donate 25% of any future revenue derived from using or selling the monkey selfie, and that the money will be donated to charities that help protect the habitat of Naruto and other crested macaques in Indonesia.

In a joint statement that was issued by both parties, “PETA and David Slater agree that this case raises important, cutting-edge issues about expanding legal rights for nonhuman animals, a goal that they both support, and they will continue their respective work to achieve.” PETA lawyer Jeff Kerr adds, “PETA’s groundbreaking case sparked a massive international discussion about the need to extend fundamental rights to animals for their own sake, not in relation to how they can be exploited by humans.”

It is a rather interesting case and one that could be used as a precedent for the future, and for the most part we reckon that Slater is probably extremely relieved that it is all over, with a recent report from The Guardian revealing that Slater spent all of his money trying to defend himself and to fight this case, to the point where he could not even afford to fly himself to San Francisco to attend one of the hearings.

Nintendo Switch Supply Issues Are ‘Complicated’

Given that Nintendo has been in the business for a very, very long time, you would assume that the company would have it sorted out when it comes to their suppliers and supply chain. However as we have seen with consoles like the NES Classic and even the Nintendo Switch, the company is struggling trying to keep its products on the shelves.

We suppose that isn’t necessarily the worst problem to be had, although at the same time we’re sure that customers would like to know why it is so hard to get their hands on a product. Like we said, the Switch is one of the company’s recent products that is facing a fair amount of shortage, especially in markets like Japan, and a recent interview with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that the situation is “complicated”.

Speaking to The Financial Times (subscription required), Fils-Aime was quoted as saying, “There is not one choke point, there are multiple choke points. I won’t go into any more detail but it’s not just one component. I’m going to make millions of these units to flow into the marketplace. But what I don’t know is what the demand is going to be. And there is a potential that demand is going to outstrip supply.”

It’s not exactly the answer that we’re sure many are hoping for, but in any case hopefully Nintendo will be able to resolve this soon, especially with the holiday season coming up, and with the Switch probably being on the wishlist of many a gamer.

Injustice 2 Could Be Coming To The PC According To Retail Listings

Injustice 2 by NetherRealm Studios was released earlier this year in May where it was made available on both the Xbox One and the PS4. However there has not been any mention of a PC release, which is a bit strange given that the game’s prequel was launched for the PC, but the good news for PC gamers is that the game could be arriving for the PC soon.

This is according to retail listings for the game on websites such as Game Mania and Amazon France (via Wccftech). In fact the listing on Amazon France seems to suggest that the PC version of the game could be launched as a deluxe edition, whatever that means, although we’re guessing it will probably be bundled with all the DLCs that have been released to date.

Unfortunately the listings do not mention when the game will be available for the PC, so whether gamers have to wait a few weeks, a few months, or even wait until 2018 remains to be seen. Note that neither the game’s developer nor its publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed that a PC launch is in the works, so take it with a grain of salt for now because for all we know, both these retailers could simply be making educated guesses, but either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information.
