Nintendo is a bit of an odd company in which some of their ideas seem to be the product of forward thinking, but yet there have been some instances in which the company has been slow to adopt newer technology or features that its competitors have embraced, like the Wii Shop Channel which marked the first time that Nintendo embraced the digital game distribution method.
However given that the focus is currently on the Nintendo Switch, we guess all good things must come to an end as Nintendo has officially announced that the Wii Shop Channel will be shutting down in 2019, or to be more specific, it will be shutting down on the 31st of January, 2019. We suppose this still gives gamers a little over a year to adjust to things, but if you still plan to keep using the service, note that adding funds will only be allowed until the 27th of March, 2018.
This means that after that unless you have any funds remaining in your account, you won’t be able to purchase games for either the Wii or the Wii U via the Wii Shop Channel. Of course physical purchases will still be possible assuming you can still find copies of the game you want, but the digital distribution method will be coming to a close.

While Super Mario Run was launched with a ton of fanfare considering that this would be the first time that Mario would be arriving on mobile devices, it’s safe to say that interest in the game quickly fizzled due to a number of reasons, such as the gameplay which wasn’t like what many had thought Mario would be like, and the price of $10 which many felt was rather hefty just to unlock all of its content.
However the good news is that if you were holding out on purchasing Super Mario Run, Nintendo has [recently released an update for the game] that the company had previously promised. The price has been temporarily reduced by 50% which means that it is now a bit more affordable than before, but note that this is a temporary price reduction as the price of the game will be going back to normal levels on the 12th of October.
In addition to the price reduction, Nintendo has introduced a bunch of new features and content to the game. This includes a new Remix Mode that will allow gamers to unlock new buildings, and it will also introduce a new character Daisy, where one of the character’s abilities is to jump another time while mid-air, which should help gamers snag more coins and gain more points. The update is already live so if you haven’t updated the game already, you can do so by heading over to the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store for the download.

For gamers who are interested in taking part in the open beta, you will need to meet certain hardware requirements which includes Windows 7 64-bit or later, an Intel Core i3-3225 or better, at least 8GB of RAM, 25GB of HDD space, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or an AMD Radeon H D 7850 with 2GB of VRAM or better. Activision claims that this test is meant to stress test the game’s servers so that when the game is released, things will go smoothly without too much server issues, if any at all.
There will also be certain features of the game that will be unique to PC gamers and we’re not talking about gameplay features, but rather certain “improvements” to the game which includes native 4K support, a frame rate cap slider up to 250fps, FOV resizing, support for full remapping of keyboard and mouse, controller support, G-Sync monitor support, ultra-wide monitor support, and advanced video settings.

One of Sony’s exclusive franchises for its PlayStation platform is God of War. The franchise has been in existence for many years now and has found its way onto pretty much every PlayStation console that has been released to date, which is why it isn’t surprising that many gamers are looking forward to the new God of War which was announced last year.
For gamers who can’t wait to see what the next God of War title has in store for them, Sony has since released a new trailer for the game which depicts the artwork of one of the upcoming game’s more popular or familiar bad guys, the fire troll. The trailer gives us a look at how the character was designed and if you’re interested in learning more about the game and how the characters were created, this might be of interest to you.
In case you’re learning about this for the first time, the new God of War offers up a bit of a change in pace in how players approach the game. While previous God of War titles allowed players to control Kratos, the new version of the game will see players control Kratos and his son which should offer up some dynamic gameplay. The title has yet to receive a specific release date but it is set for 2018 exclusively on the PS4.

We’re not sure if other thatgamecompany’s games will find their way onto mobile devices, but we’re pretty sure that many gamers are hoping that Journey will eventually. In the meantime Flower is priced at $4.99 and is available via the iTunes App Store.
