AirPods Shipping Estimates Improve To 3-5 Days

Apple’s AirPods have been notoriously difficult to get since their release, which is rather ironic considering that upon its announcement, many made fun of the design and criticized its price tag, but the reports are accurate, the AirPods is currently dominating the wireless headphone market as far as wireless earbuds are concerned.

That being said, it seems that Apple has made good on their promise to boost supply of the device because according to reports, the shipping estimates of the AirPods has improved to 3-5 business days. This seems to be applicable across the various markets that the AirPods are sold in, such as the US, the UK, Australia, and so on.

Prior to this, customers who ordered the AirPods through Apple’s online store would have to wait as long as 6 weeks before delivery was made. Over the past few months Apple has made improvements to the supply, but it would still be a couple of weeks of waiting before they were shipped, so 3-5 days is the shortest shipping estimates the headphones have seen.

So far reviews of the headphones have been mostly positive, with many citing the quick pairing, battery life, touch gestures as being some of the main selling points of the device.

Analyst Dismisses Claims That iPhone 8 Sales Are ‘Weak’

With the iPhone X finally introducing a new design to the iPhone lineup, it made sense that many would be more attracted to the handset versus the iPhone 8, which apart from its glass back is still very reminiscent of the previous few iPhone generations, not to mention the various new features such as Face ID and an OLED display.

This is why we can’t say we were surprised to learn that the iPhone X could be hurting iPhone 8 sales as some customers could be holding out for it instead. This also seems to be implied by the shorter queues that several Apple Stores are seeing. However according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, his latest report suggests that we could be wrong, and that demand for the new iPhones are stable.

His report claims that opening weekend sales were about half of that of last year’s model, but apparently that is within expectations. His report also goes on to add that the iPhone 8 Plus seems to be a more popular choice this year and is so far accounting for more than half of initial iPhone 8 sales.

As 9to5Mac points out, there is a chance that the larger queues could still happen when the iPhone X is released which is this November. They also write that the skewed sales could correct itself over time as more customers upgrade, but in the meantime Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has claimed that the iPhone 8 is doing well and has actually sold out in some stores.

Essential Phone Has Reportedly Only Sold 5,000 Units So Far

Considering who is behind the Essential Phone, you would think that there would be many flocking to it, however given that it is also a brand new device, some skepticism wouldn’t be surprising. However could there have been too much skepticism? According to a report by BayStreet Research, the Essential Phone appears to have only sold 5,000 units to date.

With that number of units sold, it certainly does pale in comparison to the likes of the tens of millions of devices sold by Apple and Samsung, but like we said, Essential is a brand new company and the Essential Phone is its first device, so you can imagine that too many customers probably don’t want to spend money on something that’s unproven.

According to BayStreet, the 5,000 units is the sell-through which means that these are the units that consumers actually buy through a retailer, or in this case through Sprint which is the Essential Phone’s exclusive carrier in the US. So far reviews of the handset have been mixed, and while it’s hard to deny the smartphone’s beautiful design, the fact that it doesn’t really have that many standout features makes it hard to separate itself from the competition.

In any case the phone and company are still new to the market so perhaps give it some time and things could change, just like OnePlus who was a new player a few years ago, but are now making headlines with their Android smartphones.

Amazon Echo Spot Speaker Announced

When Amazon launched their series of Echo speakers, they were essentially just speakers with the main selling point being that Alexa, Amazon’s digital assistant, has been baked into it. However Amazon then introduced the larger Echo Show which featured a built-in display, but if you wanted something smaller then you’re in luck.

At Amazon’s surprise press event, the company has taken the wraps off their latest Echo device in the form of the Echo Spot. As you can see in the photo, the Echo Spot looks like a hi-tech alarm clock but it is still at its core an Echo speaker with a smaller 2.5-inch display. It can be used as an alarm clock if you wish, but it can also be used to make video calls and can also stream from various music streaming services.

This includes the likes of Amazon’s own Prime Music, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn (no surprises that Tidal or Apple Music didn’t make the cut). They can also be synced up with Amazon hoping that customers will buy multiple units to place within their home. As for pricing, the Echo Spot isn’t exactly cheap at $130, but if you’re interested pre-orders are currently being accepted and is expected to be released on the 19th of December.

Zuckerberg replies to Trump’s tweet with a list of Facebook benefits

In case you missed it (and no one would blame you), Trump fired off a tweet this morning accusing Facebook of being “anti-Trump,” also blaming “The Networks” of the same, presumably referring to major news networks. He specifically pointed fingers at the New York Times, at the Washington Post, making accusations of fake news. This evening Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg … Continue reading
