Destiny 2 Live Action Trailer Is All Kinds Of Awesome

When it comes to video game trailers, there are many approaches that we have seen over the years, with some developers opting to create trailers based on in-game footage, while others opt for more cinematic-quality trailers with CG, or in the case with Bungie’s Destiny 2, it seems that they have opted to use a live action trailer.

According to its description on YouTube, “Everything you love about Earth is gone. Except for the Last City.  And now a psycho rhino named Ghaul is coming to take that away too. On September 6, it’s time to grab some big guns, unite our scattered heroes, and take back our home.”

The trailer was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who was also being Kong: Skull Island and will also be directing the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the director expressed how directing this live action trailer for Destiny 2 will help him translate the Metal Gear Solid game into a movie.

“I think for me there is always going to be a little bit of exploration of playing with that translation of active experience to passive experience. And I think that builds into what I’m trying to achieve with Metal Gear and takes the first steps into that world of how these things can translate.” In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, you definitely want to check it out in the video above, even if you have no intention of playing the game.

Beoplay E8 Wireless Earbuds Launched

#IFA2017 – While there are wireless headphones and in-ear headphones, what seems to be popular these days are wireless earbuds, which are tiny earpieces that sit in your ear that are also completely wireless. There are quite a few brands out there, like Apple’s AirPods and also the recently announced JBL Free.

Tossing their hat into the ring is Bang & Olufsen who have recently taken the wraps off their latest audio offerings in the form of the Beoplay E8. Right off the bat it is pretty obvious that the company is sticking to its design roots as the Beoplay E8 looks every bit as sleek as the company’s other audio products.

The earbuds themselves feature a 5.7mm electro-dynamic speaker with a 16 Ohm impedance and a 20-20,000Hz frequency range. There is an accompanying app that lets users adjust the sound profile, and the earbuds will also come with touch controls that allow users to use voice commands or to activate transparency mode which basically lets in ambient sound.

The Beoplay E8 will offer users up to 4 hours per use and it will come with a carrying/charging case that will let users charge the headphones another 2 times. As expected of Bang & Olufsen, the Beoplay E8 does not come cheap at $299, but if you’re interested they will be available for purchase starting on the 12th of October.

Apple’s AirPods Are Reportedly Dominating The Wireless Headphone Market

When Apple first unveiled the AirPods, many were incredulous at the design and also the price that Apple was asking for. Fast forward to today, many are singing a very different (and positive) tune. In fact according to a new report from market research firm NPD, it seems that Apple’s AirPods are actually dominating the wireless headphone market.

The report reads in part, “Since launching in December, Apple’s AirPods have accounted for 85 percent of totally wireless headphone dollar sales in the U.S., according to NPD’s Retail Tracking Service. With a use case centering on frictionless access to Siri and other tasks initiated by voice, AirPods really act as an extension of the iPhone.”

NPD believes that the AirPods is dominating because of features like the W1 chip which helps the headphones pair extremely quickly and seamlessly, at least compared to more traditional Bluetooth headsets. They also cite disruptive pricing and brand resonance as other reasons why the AirPods are doing so well.

As it stands the AirPods are still facing supply issues, although we can’t be sure if this is due to manufacturing difficulties or if the demand is much stronger than Apple has anticipated. That being said, this is actually not the first time we’re hearing about the AirPods doing well, as previously it was reported that the headphones had achieved 98% customer satisfaction levels.

Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves Will Help Save On Energy Consumption

While devices like the Nest smart thermostat are cool in the sense that it lets you control it remotely and to schedule your thermostat, it also helps to save on your electricity bills because by being “smart”, it knows when you need it and when you don’t need it, versus older thermostats where it’s either on or off.

It seems that the folks at Netatmo are applying that logic to radiator valves over in the UK where they have launched the Smart Radiator Valves, which we guess in theory is similar to what smart thermostats are trying to achieve, except for radiators. According to the company, they expect that on average it will help reduce energy consumption by as much as 37%.

These smart radiator valves will fit on hot-water radiators and can be controlled on a per-room basis, meaning that users can set them individually, and over time they can be adapted to your needs based on your usage habits. The accompanying app will let users set schedules, like turning on the radiator and setting it to a certain temperature in the morning, and then turning it off for the rest of the day, and so on.

It is even smart enough to know if a window is open so that it will stop heating the room in order to save energy. It is also compatible with HomeKit and Google Home, so whether you want to use an iOS device to control it or use Google Assistant, those are options open to you. The Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves will be available in the UK starting today priced at £69.99 each.
