Russia And The U.S. Are Building A Moon Base

There isn’t much that Russia and the United States agree on these days. Relations between the two countries have soured in recent months but that’s not going to stop their space agencies from working together. It was recently reported that Russia’s Roscosmos will announce a new partnership with NASA this week. Both space organizations have released statements confirming that they will be working together on a moon base.

Roscosmos and NASA have released statements saying that the two countries have a shared “common vision for human exploration.” The statements confirm that they’re going to work together on a lunar base. The project itself is called Deep Space Gateway.

Deep Space Gateway is a base that NASA is planning to build in the lunar orbit starting in the 2020s. The statement mentions that work on this project will begin in the mid-2020s. Other international partners might also come onboard to work alongside the United States and Russia.

Roscosmos also mentions that a set of international technical standards will be created which will be used for the lunar space station and beyond. Both the life support systems and the docking ports will be based on Russian design. Even the existing life support systems on the International Space Station are located in the Russian section.

It’s still a long way to go before this project to materialize but this is a step in the right direction. It shows that despite soured relations, at least both countries are not holding back progress in space.

iPhone X Face ID Sensors To Blame For Limited Supply

There have been many reports claiming that the iPhone X will be in short supply at launch. That’s apparently due to production issues with the handset’s Face ID sensors. This has been reported previously as well and today The Wall Street Journal provides more information about what’s holding up Face ID sensors.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the iPhone X will be available in limited supply when it’s finally released on November 3rd. That’s due to the additional manufacturing issues presented by its Face ID sensors.

The report details that the iPhone X’s facial recognition sensor is divided into two parts called Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is the module which projects infrared dots to map the user’s face while Juliet reads that pattern.

The scribe hears from a source that Apple’s manufacturing partner is having issues with manufacturing yields for the Romeo module, it’s taking more time to assemble than its Juliet counterpart. This has created a bottleneck which has the potential to further limit supply at launch.

Demand is already expected to be quite high for the iPhone X as quite a few customers are believed to have skipped on the iPhone 8 in favor of the iPhone X. There are concerns that the iPhone X may be difficult to get one’s hands on until 2018. If that really is the case, some of Apple’s fans might have to wait for a long time to get Apple’s first OLED iPhone.

Custom Xbox One S Pays Tribute To Paul Walker

Microsoft has developed a custom Xbox One S to the late Paul Walker, best known for his work in the Fast and Furious franchise. Walker tragically lost his life in a car accident back in November 2013. Microsoft has developed this console in honor of the late Fast and Furious actor. Fans of the franchise might recognize the color scheme. It’s based on Walker’s first car from the franchise that’s seen in the opening scene.

It’s also the first car that he uses in his first race ever against Vin Diesel. This is why this custom Xbox One S is sporting a bright green and blue finish. It’s a great way of paying tribute to the late actor.

The console itself is signed by many of Walker’s friends and cast mates from the franchise. Those who have signed the console include Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker, and others.

Microsoft is going to raffle this custom Xbox One S on October 1st at a charity gaming live stream event called Game4Paul. The event is conducted by Microsoft and Reach Out Worldwide, a non-profit organization formed by Walker for disaster relief. The raffle tickets cost $20 each and the proceeds are going to benefit Reach Out Worldwide.
