LTE Surface Pro Release Due December 1st

There has been a lot of speculation about the LTE Surface Pro. Many have been waiting on Microsoft to confirm when it’s going to launch the LTE-enabled version of this product. There’s finally more information about this. It was confirmed during its Ignite 2017 conference that the LTE Surface Pro is going to be released on December 1st.

Microsoft announced the Surface Pro at its hardware event in Shanghai earlier this year in May. It promised that a cellular variant would be released soon but we haven’t heard much about it since.

At a session at the Ignite 2017 conference titled “Surface product engineering behind the scenes, and deep dive on the new Surface Pro,” Microsoft confirmed that the LTE Surface Pro is going to be released on December 1st. The spokesperson said that the device can be found on the company’s product page but it doesn’t seem to have gone live just yet.

Microsoft is expected to formally announce this product at its Future Decoded event in London next month. Panos Panay, the company’s Surface chief, is going to make an appearance at the event in London.

A Surface Pro program manager Tim Golik revealed the launch date for the LTE Surface Pro during the session. No further information was provided about the pricing but we can expect it to cost more than the Wi-Fi only models available for purchase right now.

Delta Offers Free In-Flight WhatsApp, iMessage, And Facebook Messenger Use

You’ll soon be able to keep in touch with friends and family on the ground when you’re flying with Delta. The airline has confirmed that passengers on most Delta flights will be able to use WhatsApp, iMessage, and Facebook Messenger in-flight for free.

Delta today announced that it will become the first U.S. global carrier to offer passengers free mobile messaging in the air. It will provide them free access to more messaging options than any other carrier, Delta says, adding that most of its aircraft will be enabled with free messaging.

This complimentary capability will allow passengers to remain connected to those on the ground fully using iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. Delta says that it’s offering this service as part of its multi-billion dollar investment in customer experience.

“Coupled with our investments in seat-back screens, free entertainment and High-Speed Wi-Fi, free messaging is one more way customers can choose how to make the most of their time on Delta flights,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Passengers on all Gogo-enabled Delta flights will get free messaging. This includes all aircraft with two or more cabins. Customers can access the service through Delta’s Wi-Fi portal page, airborne.gogoinflight.com.

The free messaging service will be for text use only and won’t support the transfer of audio or video files.

Surprise Amazon Hardware Event Confirmed For Today

There have been rumors recently that Amazon is going to launch new hardware products but the rumors haven’t suggested that the company has new Echo devices in the pipeline. They have been about new Fire TV devices. It’s unclear what Amazon has in the pipeline right now but the company has confirmed a surprise hardware event which is going to take place later today.

Amazon has confirmed that it’s going to hold a hardware event in Seattle later today. It’s expected to show off new Alexa-powered smart devices. The devices will likely be released ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season.

Amazon’s surprise hardware event is going to start at 10:30 am PT later today. It’s unclear what the company has in store for us. Recent price drops for the original Echo have led to assumptions that there’s a new Echo in the pipeline.

The existing Echo speaker is listed as “unavailable” on Amazon which is yet another indication that a successor might be coming soon. It’s also possible that Amazon is going to launch its much-rumored Fire TV set-top box and Fire TV Stick at this event.

It’s a good thing that Amazon has confirmed the event hours before it’s due to make the announcements. We don’t have to wait for a terribly long time to find out what it’s going to announce.

ZTE Axon M Foldable Smartphone Launch Expected Next Month

We’ve heard rumors about a foldable smartphone for quite some time now, however, those rumors have long been associated with Samsung. While it’s still unclear if and when Samsung will launch its much-rumored foldable smartphone, a new report claims that ZTE is going to launch its Axon M foldable smartphone at an event next month. The device is reportedly going to be a foldable dual-screen smartphone with full HD resolution.

The folks at Android Authority hear that ZTE is going to unveil its foldable smartphone codenamed Axom Multy next month. The device may be launched as the Axon M at a launch event on October 17th.

It’s reportedly going to have dual full HD displays which will fold out into a 6.8 inch panel with 1,920 x 2,160 pixel resolution. When folded out, the handset apparently looks like a conventional smartphone with a sleek frame.

No further information is available about this handset right now so it’s unclear what it’s full specifications are going to be. ZTE is going to conduct a press event in New York City on October 17th and it’s possible that we’ll get to hear more about the Axon M from the company then.

It’s also possible that some renders and images of the device will be leaked out ahead of its expected announcement next month. That’s always the case with unreleased devices, something almost always leaks.
