Google Cuts Amazon Echo Show’s Access To YouTube

It appears that Google and Amazon are having some problems. The former has decided to cut the Amazon Echo Show’s access to YouTube out of the blue. The Echo Show is a new Alexa-powered smart device that Amazon launched recently. It’s the first device of its kind from Amazon to feature a display, which means that it can do more than what you’d expect from a normal Echo device. It can’t let you watch YouTube now, though.

Amazon Echo Show could previously pull up videos from YouTube on demand. However, if you ask it to do that now, the device will just respond thusly: “Currently, Google is not supporting YouTube on Echo Show.”

“As of this afternoon, Google has chosen to no longer make YouTube available on Echo Show, without explanation and without notification to customers,” a spokesperson for Amazon confirmed, adding that there’s no technical reason for the decision “which is disappointing and hurts both of our customers.”

Amazon’s statement makes it seem that Google made a conscious choice to block YouTube on the Echo Show. However, Google has a different explanation. The company says that it has been in negotiations with Amazon for a long time in order to come to an agreement that provides great experiences for customers on both platforms.

“Amazon’s implementation of YouTube on the Echo Show violates our terms of service, creating a broken user experience. We hope to be able to reach an agreement and resolve these issues soon,” Google says.

As for when this tussle will be resolved, well we can just keep our fingers crossed.

Upcoming Sony Flagship Will Feature Entirely New Design

If you feel that Sony’s flagship smartphones look too dated now, you can rejoice because the company has confirmed that its upcoming flagship is going to feature an entirely new design. This has been confirmed by Kenichiro Hibi who is Sony’s managing director in India. He confirmed to a local news outlet that Sony’s next-generation flagship smartphone will have a completely new design.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Hibi said that Sony’s next-generation flagship smartphone is going to have an entirely new design. He made these comments on the sidelines of the Xperia XZ1’s launch in India.

“We have deployed an omnibalance design as long as the X series continues to be available in the market,” Hibi explained, adding that “we are planning to launch new generation of products and you can expect a complete new design from the devices.”

As many of you are well aware, the “bezel-less” trend has taken over the premium segment of the market this year and it’s possible that Sony might jump on the bandwagon with its next flagship. However, the company hasn’t shared any information about the new handset so it’s unclear what it will bring to the table.

Sony normally unveils new handsets at the Mobile World Congress event. The 2018 iteration of the event will take place early next year so we’ll get to see whatever the company has been working on in a few months.

iPhone Earpiece Crackling Issue Fix Confirmed By Apple

Are you facing the iPhone 8 earpiece crackling issue as well? If you are, then you won’t have to put up with it for much longer. Apple has confirmed that this issue exists and that it’s working on a fix. It has acknowledged that the earpiece crackling issue has been reported in “a small number of cases,” and that a fix will be out soon.

There have been countless reports about the iPhone 8 earpiece crackling issue on Apple’s support forums and Reddit. Users have complained that they hear a crackling or static sound which disrupts the audio when they make a call.

Apple has now issued a statement confirming that this issue has been reported in a small number of cases and that it’s working on a firmware update which will address the issue. “We are aware of the issue which is affecting customers in a small number of cases,” said a spokesperson for the company, adding that “Our team is at work on a fix, which will be included in an upcoming software release.”

The company didn’t reveal what’s causing this issue but reports have suggested that users have experienced it on both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The issue doesn’t affect all calls, it may pop up from time to time on regular and FaceTime calls.

It doesn’t come up when an earpiece is used or the audio is routed to the loudspeaker. This makes it seem like this is purely a software issue which will hopefully be fixed for good when Apple releases the update.
