iPhone X Pre-Orders Could Reach 50 Million Units

Apple’s new iPhone X differs very greatly from the other iPhones like the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. We’re not talking about hardware specs, but rather its design and features in which the iPhone X will offer up an edge-to-edge display, a new facial recognition security system, an OLED screen, and more.

As you can imagine, these are very tempting features which is why according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he expects that pre-orders for the iPhone X could reach as high as 50 million units. Kuo goes on to add that he believes that the Face ID security feature will be one of the main selling points, although we guess we’ll have to wait for reviews to see how well it actually performs.

Unfortunately as Kuo had previously pointed out, the iPhone X could face supply issues due to production issues with the TrueDepth camera, and that it is possible that only in 2018 that we can expect supply to catch up with demand. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it could have an impact on Apple’s other iPhones.

For example we’ve heard reports that the iPhone X could be hurting the iPhone 8 sales and that pre-orders of the iPhone 8 are lower than its predecessors. This is apparently due to customers deciding to hold out for the iPhone X which is due this November.

iPhone 8 Drop Test Proves You Might Need A Case For Your Handset

With the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus being introduced, Apple has also brought back one of its more iconic designs with the glass back that first debuted with the iPhone 4. We’re sure that with the glass back design, many are questioning just how durable it is, although recent scratch tests have shown that it does hold up pretty well.

Unfortunately it seems that while the glass back holds up well under scratches, it does not do so well when dropped. This is despite Apple’s claims of a reinforced glass. In the video above, the folks at PhoneBuff decided to test the iPhone 8 against the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which also has a glass back.

In this case, it seems neither phone survived the drop test, with both handsets having their glass backs shattered. While PhoneBuff suggests that the cracks in the Note 8 appear to be more severe, this is only one test so it’s hard to consider it conclusive, but regardless it seems that neither device will survive if it falls directly on its back.

If you are planning on picking up the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or even the iPhone X, then it seems that you’ll definitely want to protect your investment with a case lest you find yourself with a smashed device.

Super Mario Run Gets A Temporary Price Cut And New Levels

If there was one main criticism that many gamers had when Super Mario Run was launched was its price tag. Sure, the game was free up to a certain extent, but gamers who wanted more content and features would have to fork out $10 for everything, which as far as mobile games are concerned is pricey.

However the good news is that if you’ve been holding out on purchasing the game, Nintendo has announced that from the 29th of September until the 12th of October, Super Mario Run will be discounted and have its price slashed by 50%, meaning that the game will only cost you $5 if you were to purchase it within that particular time period. After that we expect the price to go back to normal levels.

In addition to the price cut, Nintendo will also be introducing a bunch of new content to the game. This includes the “Daisy” character and an additional 9 levels that will be unlocked once you’ve completed all the existing stages. There will also be new enemies, new coin-collecting challenges, an additional game mode called Remix 10, and more. These changes will be permanent so it is only the price cut that is temporary.

While Super Mario Run was initially well-received, it seems that interest in the game died off pretty quickly, but perhaps with the addition of this new content it will be able to bring gamers back into the fold.
