Watch brand Nomos thinks only men are ‘at work’

As TechCrunch’s resident watch lover I enjoy a view on markets outside of the typical consumer electronics dreck. I get to see beautiful pieces hand-built by true artisans, historical pieces that pay homage to past glory, and sexist watch companies who suggest, in no uncertain terms, that dudes are the only ones who do any work. Bear with me. A reader of my other blog,… Read More

Amazon Announces ‘Amazon Key’, Will Deliver Directly Into Your Home

Amazon not only stocks a ton of product, but the company’s logistics and the ability to deliver products quickly is also what makes their service so appealing. In fact it seems that things are about to get better as Amazon has recently announced Amazon Key, a new service aimed at Prime customers that will help improve on delivery convenience.

Now we know that we can’t always be at home or have someone at home to accept our parcels, so what Amazon Key does is that it basically allows Amazon make a delivery inside of your home, meaning that you can come home to a safe and secure package, versus it being left on your doorstep where it could be easily stolen. In fact it was just recently that such a feature was said to be in the works.

However this will require customers purchase a kit in order for it to work. This includes the Amazon Cloud Cam as well as a compatible smart lock from the likes of Yale or Kwikset, and this kit will be priced starting at $250.

According to Amazon, “This state-of-the-art technology doesn’t simply replace a key with a digital passcode. Each time a delivery driver requests access to a customer’s home, Amazon verifies that the correct driver is at the right address, at the intended time, through an encrypted authentication process. Once this process is successfully completed, Amazon Cloud Cam starts recording and the door is then unlocked.”

We suppose this will require a great deal of trust, but if you think you’re up for it, Amazon Key will be launching on the 8th of November in 37 cities across the US. More details can be found on the Amazon Key website.

PC Beta For Injustice 2 Will Not Be Kicking Off Today

When Injustice 2 was first announced, it seemed that Warner Bros. pretty much focused the announcement on consoles, leaving gamers to wonder if the game could ever find its way onto the PC. Given that the first Injustice was released for the PC, we suppose it didn’t seem like a stretch to think that a PC release for Injustice 2 could be in the cards as well.

The good news is that Warner Bros. has confirmed the PC release, and that the PC beta will be kicking off today, the 25th of October. However it seems that communication must have gotten mixed up somewhere because the official Injustice 2 Twitter account has tweeted that the PC beta will not be kicking off today. The tweet reads, “The PC beta will NOT begin tomorrow.  Stay tuned for more information!”

It is unclear as to when the beta will begin, but suffice to say if you were looking forward to playing it today, then you will be disappointed to learn that will not be happening. It should be noted that the PC version of Injustice is not developed by NetherRealm who did the console version of the game, but rather it will be made by QLOC and is expected to be released soon, which means that a PC beta probably shouldn’t be too far off (just not today).

Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding the PC beta and the release of the game, so check back with us soon for more details.

Metal Gear Survive Set For Late February 2018 Release

When famed game producer Hideo Kojima announced that he would be leaving Konami, many wondered about the future of the Metal Gear franchise, a franchise that was pretty much synonymous with Kojima due to his involvement in the majority of the titles. We suppose we will find out soon enough with Metal Gear Survive.

The game was originally announced last year and according to a tweet by the official Metal Gear Twitter account, it seems that the game is now set for a release late February 2018. This is in line with an earlier report that revealed that the game had been delayed to 2018, although back then it was not stated as to when we might be able to expect it, but now we know.

According to the game’s description, “Metal Gear Survive is a spin-off of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that integrates MGSV:TPP’s its intense gameplay elements into a survival action format. This is Metal Gear as you’ve never seen it before. The tension of stealth gameplay, tactics of base defense and the grueling reality of survival. Set in a dangerous, ruined world filled with creatures and hazerdous mist. Success relies on your ability to read the evolving situation and make strategic choices – placing defensive units, predicting enemy behavior and designing attack patterns.”

It should be noted that Metal Gear Survive will be the first Metal Gear game released after Kojima’s departure from the company. Kojima had previously stated that he has nothing to do with or has any involvement with the game.
