The iPhone X is about to be released, and somehow, either officially sanctioned or otherwise, a handful of videos have appeared showing different functions of the device. What follows is a short video showing the novel way users will switch apps on the iPhone X. App switching on iPhone X looks pretty smooth. One of the big and key features of the iPhone X is Face ID. It represents a daring move on Apple’s part to remove Touch ID from the iPhone and replace it completely with a facial recognition system, and safe to say it is a make or break moment for Apple, which is why this report from Bloomberg has us scratching our heads.
It seems that in a bid to speed up production and to get the iPhone X out on time, or as early as possible, Apple has reportedly told their suppliers that they can reduce Face ID’s accuracy by a bit. Given how strict Apple is with their suppliers meeting certain standards and yields, it is surprising to learn that the company could be compromising on one of its most important features.
However at the same time we suppose it is understandable, given that there have been reports to suggest that Face ID and the TrueDepth camera system is one of the reasons why the iPhone X is facing production delays. According to one of Bloomberg’s sources, “To boost the number of usable dot projectors and accelerate production, Apple relaxed some of the specifications for Face ID”.
It is unclear how this will affect the final unit, and whether or not it will be noticed by customers. So far during the hands-on preview of the iPhone X, many reviewers were left impressed by Face ID’s demonstration, so hopefully Apple’s decision will not end up hurting the iPhone X’s launch, but we’ll have to wait until the 3rd of November to find out.

The problem with online shopping is that everything you see is a photo, which for the most part has usually been photoshopped to make it look better and more appealing to customers. However we all have probably encountered instances where an item we thought looked nice online ended up looking out of place or ugly in real-life.
Such is the perils when it comes to online furniture shopping, which is why Target has added augmented reality (AR) to its mobile website where shoppers will be able to use the technology to place furnitures in their home virtually to get an idea of what it might look like. “Guests shopping the new Project 62 line can use the feature to place three-dimensional versions of real Target home products within photos of actual rooms at home, and move them around at proper scale to see how they’d look—all before buying the product.”
If this sounds familiar, it is because furniture maker IKEA also has a similar feature in their recently-launched Places app that leverages Apple’s ARKit. No doubt that this will prove to be a rather handy tool for shoppers who probably don’t want to deal with a bad decision or trouble themselves by making a return. We expect that in the future we will start seeing more AR used in shopping, something that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had predicted not too long ago.

Following the launch of games like Miitomo and Super Mario Run, last year Nintendo announced that the next titles that would arrive for mobile would be Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem. It was then reported that Animal Crossing would be delayed to 2018, but the good news is that it doesn’t look like that’s the case anymore.
Nintendo has recently announced that the next mobile title they’ll be releasing will be Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and it is scheduled to arrive on iOS devices next month, meaning that gamers won’t have to wait until 2018 to play it. We’re not sure what happened to the supposed delay, but hey we won’t complain about a good thing!
According to Nintendo’s description of the game, “Get back to nature in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the new Animal Crossing mobile game where you take on the role of campsite manager! You’re in charge, so you can decorate your own campsite however you like! Make it fun, make it cute, make it sporty—it’s up to you to craft the kind of furniture and amenities that will make your camp a must-see for animals visiting the area.”
There is currently no specific release date set yet but it is expected to be November.

Earlier this year Sony announced a new camera in the form of the Sony A9. However if you were more of a fan of Sony’s A7 series of mirrorless cameras, you’ll be pleased to learn that Sony has announced its latest full-frame mirrorless camera in the form of the Sony A7R III, a camera which has been rumored about in the past.
Rumors of the A7R III made their rounds earlier this year and suggested a fall release, and it looks like the rumors have since proven to be true. This is the latest camera from Sony and is the successor to the A7R II which was launched about two years ago. In terms of specs, we’re looking at a whopping 42.4MP full-frame sensor. It will also support continuous shooting speeds of 10 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking, making it twice the speed of its predecessor.
The camera will also feature Sony’s updated BIONZ X processing engine, a gapless on-chip lens design, and anti-reflective sensor coating. There is an ISO range of 100-32,000 and a 15-stop dynamic range at lower ISOs. Sony has also built-in a 5-axis optical image stabilizer into the camera itself, so photographers won’t have to worry about purchasing lens with the feature.
Other features include a 1.44-million dot LCD display, support for 4K video capture, support for dual memory cards, WiFi, USB-C, and improved battery life. Safe to say that all of this won’t come cheap as the camera (body-only) is priced starting at $3,200.
