Apple’s Angela Ahrendts Rubbishes Rumors Of Replacing Tim Cook As CEO

The current Apple CEO Tim Cook has been holding the top job at Apple ever since Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs decided to step down. He was previously serving as the company’s chief operating officer under Steve Jobs. Recent rumors claimed that Apple’s retail boss Angela Ahrendts had been picked to succeed Tim Cook as CEO whenever he decided to exit. Ahrendts has set the record straight by rubbishing the rumors.

It was rumored that Angela Ahrendts, the vice president of retail at Apple, would succeed Tim Cook as the CEO of Apple. It wasn’t claimed that Cook was on his way out or that he was going to resign. The rumor merely suggested that Ahrendts would take over whenever Cook decided that it was time to call it a day.

In a video interview with BuzzFeed News, Ahrendts used a term that’s very popular these days to rubbish the rumors. “Fake news, fake news, silly, no,” she said, when asked if there was any truth to these rumors.

Cook didn’t give a direct answer about who could eventually succeed him as the CEO. His rather diplomatic answer to the question was that “I see my role as CEO to prepare as many people as I can to be CEO, and that’s what I’m doing, and then the board makes a decision at that point in time.”

Tim Cook won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, that seems certain.
