Massive Razer Phone Leak Leaves Nothing To The Imagination

As you might have heard by now, gaming accessory maker and computer maker is planning on entering the mobile space, not just by designing accessories or apps or services for our phones, but by actually making a phone of their own. Razer’s smartphone effort is expected to be officially unveiled tomorrow, but it seems like a huge leak beat them to the punch.

In a post on Reddit (via Android Police) by user open1your1eyes0, it seems that UK carrier 3G posted up details about the Razer phone prematurely, giving away all of the phone’s specs in the process. The listing (which has since been taken down, but a screenshot is available here) also shows off a blurry/fuzzy image of ak handset which we’re not sure is the Razer phone or simply a generic placeholder.

That being said in terms of specs the Razer phone is allegedly packing a 5.72-inch IGZO display with a 120Hz refresh rate (not mention of resolution, but presumably at least QHD or better). It will also feature Dolby Atmos sound with dual front-facing speakers and amplifiers certified by THX. There will also be dual cameras on the back, a massive 4,000mAh battery, and as per previous reports, it looks like the phone will indeed come with 8GB of RAM.

It is entirely possible that these specs are just the guesswork of someone at the carrier’s marketing department, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but either way with the announcement set for tomorrow, we guess we won’t have to wait too long for the official details.

Nokia 2 Officially Announced With Whopping 4,100mAh Battery

The problem with a lot of our smartphones these days would be battery life, where sometimes getting an entire day of usage can feel like achieving a miracle. However if a phone with a long battery life is something you’re after, not to worry as the folks at HMD Global have recently taken the wraps off their latest Nokia handset, the Nokia 2.

The Nokia 2 is a phone that we’ve been hearing about for a while now and by no means is it considered a flagship. However one of the key points of the Nokia 2 is its battery which is of the 4,100mAh variety, which according to HMD is expected to give users a battery life of up to 2 days, although as with all battery estimates, your mileage may vary depending on your usage patterns.

As for the rest of the specs, the Nokia 2 will come with a 5-inch HD display and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset. There is also an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard memory that can be expanded via microSD, and will come with Android Nougat preinstalled.

However as per HMD’s earlier promise, all of the company’s Nokia-branded smartphones released will eventually be upgraded to Android Oreo, although when exactly that will take place remains unclear. The Nokia 2 is currently set for a release for mid-November where it will be priced at €99.

HTC U11+ Could Be Offered In A Translucent Finish

At one point in time, many companies who were making gadgets thought that offering customers the option of being able to see through their device and into its innards was something that they might like, and we suppose for a while there was a trend of seeing many people walking around with transparent Nintendo Game Boys.

That being said could HTC be thinking of reviving the trend? According to leakster Evan Blass, they could be because in a recent tweet, Blass revealed that HTC could be offering up the HTC U11+ in a translucent finish as one of its options. Blass claims that the phone will be offered in black, silver, and translucent, which actually has us wondering if some of those earlier teaser images shared by HTC, like that of the wireless charging image, could have actually been a hint of what’s to come?

That being said, it is unclear as to when HTC will announce the HTC U11+. HTC currently has an event planned for the 2nd of November, although Blass had then tweeted (and appears to have deleted) his tweet about the event being about the HTC U11 Life and not the U11+, but given that the tweet was deleted it is possible that might have been wrong.

Either way it’s in a few days time so we should have all the official details then, so remember to check back with us if the HTC U11+ sounds like something you might be interested in getting.

Sony Has Shipped 67.5 Million PS4 Consoles As Of September 30

Nintendo has been proudly sharing details about how many units of the Nintendo Switch that they have sold since its release, which is sitting at 7.63 million units worldwide. However it looks like if Nintendo plans on competing with the other consoles, they’ve got a lot of catching up to do, especially against the likes of Sony.

This is because according to Sony’s own financial results, the company has managed to ship 67.5 million PS4 consoles as of the 30th of September, 2017. However as we have constantly reminded you guys in the past, shipments do not necessarily equate to sales, since not all units shipped are sold. However we can only imagine that Sony has been doing this long enough to anticipate demand and supply, so it is possible that the figures could be close.

Sony also seems to be pretty optimistic about the future as well as they have since raised their forecast to an additional 19 million PS4 units shipped by the conclusion of its current financial year, which is set to end on the 31st of March, 2018. This is up by 1 million from the previous forecast of 18 million, although it is down from the 20 million compared to the previous financial year, but all in all it does look like this has been a good year for Sony’s PlayStation business and video game efforts.

Super Mario Run Still Isn’t As Profitable As Nintendo Would Like

When Apple announced the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus last year, there was also a surprise announcement made by Nintendo in which they revealed that Apple’s iOS devices would be the first to get Super Mario Run, a game based on the Mario franchise which has been designed for mobile, a first for Nintendo at bringing Mario onto phones.

Unfortunately it seems that a little over a year later, Super Mario Run isn’t making Nintendo as rich as they would like. During Nintendo’s financial earnings report, the company has revealed that Super Mario Run has managed to hit 200 million downloads since its release, a jump of 50 million since we last checked earlier this year.

However like we said, despite the number of downloads, Super Mario Run isn’t quite the cash cow that Nintendo probably was hoping for as they claim that the game has yet to hit an “acceptable profit point”. “Although we have not yet reached an acceptable profit point, we have learned a lot in terms of game development and deployment that we want to take advantage of moving forward.”

Super Mario Run is available on iOS and Android devices where gamers get to play the first few levels for free, after which they will have to pay a flat fee of $10 to unlock everything else. While the gameplay of Super Mario Run has been relatively well-received, many gamers do not seem to be too thrilled about its $10 price tag, although we have to wonder if the recent temporary price cut did the game any favors in terms of revenue.
