Last week we saw a monster gaming lineup, but this week the heavy hitter is Call of Duty: WWII. As that series takes a step back in time, we’re also seeing the return of Bubsy and a Zoo Tycoon collection. On TV, CBS is premiering S.W.A.T. and The Goo…
So we have been hearing that OnePlus could have a new phone in the works in the form of the OnePlus 5T, with the latest leak suggesting that we could be getting a phone with incredibly slim bezels around its display. However it seems that apart from the slim bezels, the upcoming OnePlus 5T is also expected to feature an improved camera as well.
This comes from a tweet by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei who posted on Twitter a photo taken by what can only be presumed to be the OnePlus 5T. Now the OnePlus 5 has a feature called Portrait Mode which is similar to what other phones, like the iPhone 7 Plus, offer to its users, where it mimics the effect of a shallow depth of field that separates from the foreground subject from the background.

It’s hard to tell based on just one photo alone, but we have to admit that if we did not know that this was taken by a smartphone, one could have easily assumed that it was taken by a dedicated camera, like a DSLR with a portrait lens. The separation effect between foreground and background in this particular photo is pretty good, and assuming that the OnePlus 5T will feature improved portrait mode, that’s definitely something to look forward to.
According to the rumors, OnePlus is expected to host an event on the 16th of November. Apart from Pei tweeting out hints and teasers, nothing official has been announced yet, but we expect it won’t be too long until we get more information.

With companies like Amazon and Google launching smart speakers with their own digital assistants baked into them, it hardly came as a surprise to see Apple launch a similar product of their own. Earlier this year during WWDC, Apple announced that they would be launching a smart speaker with Siri called HomePod.
Recently Apple has released the iOS 11.2 beta and based on what’s been discovered inside of the beta, it has been revealed that Apple has also included SiriKit for the HomePod, which is basically an SDK that allows developers to take advantage of Siri on the HomePod to create apps or let it perform certain tasks.
However as 9to5Mac points out, it seems that Siri support for third-party apps on the HomePod could be limited since Apple has yet to address the topic. The description also reads, “With the intelligence of Siri, users control HomePod through natural voice interaction. And with SiriKit, users can access iOS apps for Messaging, Lists, and Notes. Make sure your SiriKit integration is up to date and test your app’s voice-only experience today.”
This seems to be a stark contrast to what Amazon is doing, in which they’re trying to court developers with prize money to create skills for Alexa. In any case we suppose we’ll find out the true extent of HomePod and Siri’s capabilities for when the smart speakers launch at the end of the year, although last we heard there could be some supply constraints.
