Sentinel x Kojima Productions Ludens 1/6 Scale Action Figure: Ludo with this Sapien

Kojima Productions’ new mascot now has a high end action figure. Made by Sentinel, the Ludens sixth scale action figure has a whopping 46 points of articulation, thanks to a custom made inner frame.

The figure’s movable parts even include its eyes. It also has lights inside its helmet, and comes with a lance that doubles as a flag pole, as well as three pairs of hands.

If you’re not familiar with Ludens, it was designed by Hideo Kojima’s longtime collaborator and Kojima Productions’ lead artist Yoji Shinkawa. Shinkawa has designed numerous characters and environments for the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders games. I would go as far as saying that he’s the co-creator of both series, because his art and designs are integral to those franchises.

After their studio’s infamous split with Konami, Kojima asked Shinkawa to create a logo and mascot for their company. The Metal Gear creator said he wanted a character with a visor inspired by the Middle Ages. The mascot’s name, Ludens, is Latin for “playing”, which is why the company also calls its mascot The Playing Man.

Don’t worry lightning fox, you’ll always have a special place in our hearts. You can pre-order the action figure from D4 Toys for $288.50 (USD). If that’s out of your budget, kawaii king Good Smile Company has a pair of significantly more affordable Ludens collectibles: the $123 Jumbo Nendoroid and the $110 Figma action figure.

Hot Toys Star Wars: The Last Jedi Rey 1/6 Action Figure: Show Her a Place in Your Shelf

Another Star Wars film, another Hot Toys action figure. The Hong Kong-based toy maker recently unveiled a sixth-scale action figure of Rey based on her appearance in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As you can see in the photos, the 11″-tall figure is officially called Rey (Jedi Training), implying that Hot Toys will release multiple versions of the character from the same movie. But hardcore fans and collectors will no doubt snap this one up because of its accessories.

The action figure comes with a light-up lightsaber, a lightsaber hilt, and a blade-in-motion attachment that can be snapped onto the hilt. She also comes with her staff and the blaster pistol that Han Solo gave her. There’s more! She comes with two of Star Wars’ newest merchandise machines, the Porgs. Finally, she has seven swappable hands.

You can pre-order the action figure from Sideshow Collectibles for $228 (USD).

Google Cuts USB-C To Headphone Jack Dongle Price

If you live the dongle life, you’d be interested to know that Google has cut the price of the USB-C to headphone jack dongle that it’s selling via its online store. The company released a new USB-C to 3.5mm dongle recently after unveiling the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The company’s new smartphones don’t feature a standard headphone jack so users will require the dongle. Google was previously asking too high a price for the dongle and it hasn’t taken the company long to realize that it needed to cut the price.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners won’t immediately have to spend money on the dongle, though, as every new Pixel smartphones ships with a dongle inside the box.

Customers who require replacements can head over to Google’s online store and pick up the USB-C to headphone jack dongle. Google was previously selling it for $20, many thought this was too high a price to ask for a simple dongle. Google has listened to the feedback and has cut the dongle’s price to $9. That’s the same price that Apple charges for its dongle.

There are also a plethora of third-party dongles available online so it’s not like this will be the only option that customers have.

KRACK Exploit Can Breach Your Wi-Fi Security

The vast majority of internet users don’t really worry about Wi-Fi security even though they should, it’s critical in this day and age. Security researchers have discovered a new exploit called KRACK that can take advantage of weaknesses in Wi-Fi security to enable attackers to listen in on the traffic between devices and wireless access points.

“If your device supports Wi-Fi, it is most likely affected,” the researchers said. The KRACK exploit leverages multiple key management vulnerabilities in the WPA2 security protocol, the most popular authentication scheme that’s used to protect both private and enterprise Wi-Fi networks.

They pointed out that 41 percent of all Android devices out there are vulnerable to an “exceptionally devastating” iteration of the Wi-Fi exploit. All other Wi-Fi devices are vulnerable to some extent. Attackers can use the exploit to run malicious code on the devices and for data theft when they’re within range.

However, it’s known at this point in time that the vulnerabilities that have been reported are actually being used by attackers. The researchers say that all Wi-Fi clients and access points should be patched if fixes are available and that users should continue to use WPA2 until then.

Additional details of the exploit have been provided at krackattacks.com, the team of researchers is going to formally present the vulnerabilities on November 1st at a security conference in Texas.

First iPhone X Shipment Of 46,500 Units Reportedly On Its Way

Apple is going to start taking pre-orders for its flagship iPhone X later this month before the handset is released in November. Countless reports have suggested that the device will be available in extremely limited numbers at launch due to production issues with some crucial components. According to a new report, Apple’s primary manufacturing partner Foxconn has sent out the first shipment of the iPhone X. The first shipment reportedly contains just 46,500 units.

DigiTimes reports that Foxconn has sent out the first shipment of iPhone X units that have made their way from Zhengzhou and Shanghai to the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates. Both countries are included in the more than 50 markets where the iPhone X is going to be released on November 3rd.

Recent reports have indicated that Apple’s component partners have been having issues in ramping up the production of Face ID components. That’s said to be the biggest production bottleneck at this point in time, one that might make it difficult for customers to get their hands on the iPhone X until 2018.

It has also been claimed that Foxconn is ramping up iPhone X production from 100,000 units per week to 400,000 but even that is not likely to be enough to meet initial demand. Sales of the iPhone 8 have reportedly been slow as many customers have been holding off on the purchase because they want to buy an iPhone X.

Samsung Galaxy A5 And Galaxy A7 (2018) Renders Leaked

Samsung normally launches its new Galaxy A handsets early on in the new year and it’s expected to do that in 2018 as well. There have already been some rumors and reports about the Galaxy A (2018) lineup and today purported renders of two upcoming models have been leaked online. They provide us with a glimpse of the design of Samsung’s premium mid-range handsets.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) build upon earlier rumors that Samsung’s new premium mid-range feature is going to feature an Infinity Display. That’s Samsung’s marketing term for a bezel-less display.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) is reportedly going to feature a 5.5 inch full HD display while the Galaxy A7 (2018) is said to feature a 6 inch display. Both handsets will have a metal and glass build as well as dual front cameras.

Previous reports have suggested that Bixby will be onboard as well but a dedicated Bixby key can’t be seen in these renders. So either these renders don’t show the full picture or Samsung isn’t going to bring the full Bixby experience to devices other than its flagships just yet. My money is on the former.

Features that were introduced with existing A series handsets such as water and dust resistance, fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay, USB Type-C port, Always On Display and more will be included as well.

Samsung is expected to unveil the new Galaxy A (2018) handsets early next year. We will likely see more reports and leaks before then.

OnePlus 5 Oreo Beta Update Release Due Soon

OnePlus has been testing Android 8.0 Oreo beta firmware for its handsets but it’s yet to confirm precisely when the major Android update will be released publicly for compatible smartphones. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei was recently asked on Twitter when the company intended to release Android 8.0 beta for OnePlus. His response was that the beta update is going to be out “soon.”

OnePlus announced the Android 8.0 Oreo beta preview for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T last week. Those who take part in the beta program are going to put the firmware through its paces for a couple of weeks before OnePlus decides to release the stable version.

The OnePlus 5 is the current flagship smartphone that OnePlus sells, even though it’s getting pretty difficult to get your hands on one right now. Pei was asked on Twitter if there’s going to be a beta program for the OnePlus 5 to which he replied “soon bro.”

This suggests that the company will be rolling out the beta firmware for the OnePlus 5 in the near future. Precisely when that’s going to happen is a mystery right now but given that Pei has commented on it publicly, it shouldn’t be long now.

OnePlus is also expected to unveil a new handset in the near future but the company hasn’t been dropping any hints about that recently.
