Super Mario Odyssey First Impressions: The Jumpman Cometh

It isn’t often that a game comes like Super Mario Odyssey comes around. That’s true from both a gameplay standpoint and a release one. Since Super Mario 64 launched way back in 1996, we’ve only had three other open-ended 3D Mario games: Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Nintendo, it would seem, likes to take … Continue reading

iPhone X Available From Boost And Virgin Mobile Starting November 10th

Apple and its major carrier partners have already started taking pre-orders for the iPhone X. There are other carriers in the United States that will also be selling the handset to their customers. Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile are two such carriers. Both have confirmed that they’ll start taking orders for the iPhone X come November 10th.

Apple has said that there has been significant demand for the iPhone X. The new handset is believed to be available in limited quantities as reports about product issues refuse to die down. Shipping times for the iPhone X slipped quite quickly after pre-orders opened so there might be some truth to those reports after all.

Scalpers are having a blast in this situation. They’re selling iPhone X pre-orders for up to $1,500 on eBay. Given that the cheapest iPhone X model cost $999, they get to turn a 50 percent profit within days.

Boost Mobile is going to start taking orders for the iPhone X from November 10th. Virgin Mobile customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone X from the carrier starting November 3rd. It’s also going to ship out the handset on November 10th.

Virgin Mobile is offering the iPhone X on its Inner Circle plan. It costs $50 per month and provides subscribers who bring over their own device with unlimited talk, text, and data. Those who go for this plan will have to purchase the iPhone X upfront.

EA And FIFA Announce eWorld Cup

The esports market continues to grown and Electronic Arts wants a piece of it. To that end, it’s leveraging one of its most successful franchises and is launching the first eWorld Cup in collaboration with the sport’s governing body, FIFA. The two entities have announced the launch of the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018, it’s a “landmark competition slated to bring global excitement to millions of competitors and spectators,” they say.

The FIFA World Cup is one of the greatest athletic events in the world. They’re now trying to replicate that success in the esports arena. Competitors are going to qualify based on their FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) Champions Weekend League online performance as well as at live qualifying events throughout the year.

Players who want to take part in this competition will have to compete in a series of qualifying tournaments from November 2017 to June 2018. Existing teams and professional players will be able to compete for their sport in the official league-qualifying tournaments.

When the qualifying season ends, EA and FIFA will pick the top 128 players split equally across the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They will move on to the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs. Those who make it through that stage will eventually compete in the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final.

More information about the official rules and eligibility restrictions is available on EA’s website.

WannaCry Attack Source Publicly Named As North Korea

The WannaCry ransomware attack earlier this year crippled almost a third of the United Kingdom’s National Health Care trusts. It even impacted almost 300 local doctor’s offices earlier this year in May. The country has been conducting an investigation into the cyberattack and it has now publicly named the WannaCry attack source as North Korea. The attack was publicly attributed to North Korea by the British Security Minister Ben Wallace in a BBC radio interview.

“North Korea was the state that we believe was involved in this worldwide attack on our systems,” Wallace said in the interview, after mentioning that the country believes quite strongly that a foreign state was behind the attack.

Wallace declined to go into the detailed intelligence but said that “we can be as sure as possible” about North Korea’s role in the cyberattack. He also added that it’s widely believed in the community and across several countries that “North Korea had taken this role.”

Wallace’s statement echoes a similar statement made by Microsoft President Brad Smith earlier this month. “I think at this point that all observers in the know have concluded that WannaCry was caused by North Korea using cyber tools or weapons that were stolen from the National Security Agency in the United States,” he said.

This isn’t the first time that North Korea has been accused of being behind a cyberattack. The country’s said back in May that it was “ridiculous” to link Pyongyang with the WannaCry ransomware attack.

Xbox One Console Settings Will Be Saved In The Cloud

Microsoft is going to make life easier for people who are thinking about upgrading to the Xbox One X from the Xbox One, or those who just want to play games on someone’s Xbox One. It’s rolling out a new beta firmware to Insiders which brings the ability to save Xbox One console settings to the cloud. This means that wherever users go, they can take their console settings with them. It certainly doesn’t get easier than that.

Microsoft has released alpha firmware for members of the Xbox Insiders program that brings the ability to save Xbox One console settings in the cloud. This isn’t just limited to saved games. The feature saves all of the home console’s settings to the cloud.

What this means is that users won’t have to spend a lot of time configuring a console that’s new to them. They need to punch in their credentials and they will be good to go. The new console will be configured to the exact same settings as the user’s home console.

This firmware also brings the ability to backup TV and OneGuide settings to external storage. Moreover, the Xbox mobile app is going to help users set up their Xbox One X while the initial update is being downloaded.

Xbox Insiders will get their hands on this update over the “next few weeks” so it’s going to take some time before these features are rolled out for all Xbox One owners.
