Fresh Google Pixel 2 XL Renders Leave Little To The Imagination

Google is going to unveil its new Pixel smartphones in a couple of days. If you’re impatient like many of us tech enthusiasts, you’ll certainly want to find out just what the Pixel 2 looks like. You’re in luck. Two fresh renders of the Google Pixel 2 XL have been leaked online by a source with a solid track record. The renders leave little to the imagination.

Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks, has leaked two renders of the Google Pixel 2 XL. The first one shows off the device in a case and the other with the case. Both reveal the design changes that Google has made.

The render confirms that the Google Pixel 2 XL is going to feature dual front-facing speakers. It’s also going to tout a redesigned launcher. The case doesn’t betray a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack so it’s not likely to be onboard. As expected, the power and volume buttons are on the right side of the device.

The redesigned launcher puts the Google search bar in a more convenient location even though an argument can be made that it doesn’t look as nice as it should. We can also see a new reminder widget but it’s unclear at this point in time if this will be a permanent fixture.

It’s possible that additional renders may be leaked in the days to come. Even if they don’t, Google will reveal the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in all their glory come October 4th.

GM To Release 20 Electric Cars By 2023

General Motors is ramping up its lineup of all-electric cars. One of the largest car manufacturers in the world has confirmed that it’s going to launch two all-electric cars in the next 18 months. The will be the first of at least 20 all-electric vehicles that GM is aiming to launch by 2023. The company has also renewed its commitment to hydrogen fuel cell technology so it’s going to focus on that as well for future products.

This was confirmed earlier today by the company at a press conference in Detroit. The company is “committed to an all-electric future,” said Mark Reuss, the vice president of global product development for GM.

“These aren’t just words in a war of press releases,” he said, adding that GM is far along in its plan to lead the way for the future of the automotive industry. The company’s new cars will be based on the “learnings” from the Chevrolet Bolt, a mass-market electric car that has been well received.

That’s not to say that the future models will be sharing their architecture with the Chevy Bolt. Reuss said that the next version is going to be better than the one GM has on the road today.

More information about GM’s new electric cars will be revealed down the road.

Microsoft Will Shut Down Groove Music Streaming, Partners With Spotify

You may not be aware but Microsoft has been running its own music streaming service for several years now. The service was previously called Xbox Music but the company later rebranded it to Groove Music to do away with the perception that it was somehow only limited to Xbox owners. However, the move doesn’t seem to have worked as Microsoft has decided to shut down Groove Music. Its next step in the world of music streaming is a partnership with the dominant player in this industry, Spotify.

Microsoft confirmed today that it will soon stop selling Groove Music passes which are required to stream music through its service. Those who are already subscribed will be refunded pro-rata once it discontinues Groove Music Pass on December 31st.

Microsoft does say that it will continue to invest in and update the Groove Music app on all Windows devices to support playback and management of music that users already own. The Groove Music app will no longer allow users to stream music or purchase and download songs after December 31st.

The company has teamed up with Spotify to make it easier for users to move their curated playlists and collections to Spotify. Groove Music Pass customers will be able to do this later this week.

It’s not surprising that Microsoft has chosen Spotify as the partner for this. They have been working on a Spotify Windows 10 app as well as a standalone app for the Xbox One.
