Amazon is updating the basic Kindle with Audible support

The Kindle Oasis continues to be Amazon‘s newest flagship e-reader, with impressive features like waterproofing and a large, sharp display. But now the company has revealed that one of the device’s best features is coming to the bottom of the Kindle line-up. The cheapest Kindle model will soon be updated with support for audiobooks from Audible. Amazon recently updated its … Continue reading

Amazon’s Cheapest Kindle Gets Audible Support

Amazon sells a variety of Kindle models and the new Kindle Oasis is one of them. The e-reader offers good functionality, it’s even waterproof, and it also has support for Audible. If you think that the Kindle Oasis is not something you’d like to spend a lot of money on, don’t worry. According to a new report, Amazon is soon going to add Audible support to its cheapest Kindle e-reader.

The way that Audible is supported on the Kindle Oasis is that users have to connect the device with a Bluetooth speaker or headphone. It’s only after that does Audible enable them to listen to audiobooks on the e-reader.

Amazon has now updated the product page of its cheapest Kindle model to confirm that it’s going to receive support for Audible “in the coming months.” Since the e-reader doesn’t have speakers onboard, it’s likely going to be a similar implementation of the feature like it is on the Oasis. Users will have to pair a Bluetooth speaker or headphone with the Kindle when they want to listen to a book.

The company hasn’t confirmed precisely when this feature is going to arrive. The updated product page only mentions that the feature will be rolled out through an over-the-air update in the near future. Amazon hasn’t confirmed if this feature will land on the Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage as well.

HTC U11 Life Will Reportedly Be Available On T-Mobile

The Moto X4 is the first device to make its way to the United States as part of Google’s Android One program. The program aims to provide customers with decent devices that are backed with a stock iteration of Android. If a new report is to be believed, the HTC U11 Life could be the second device to come to the U.S. as part of this program. It’s also believed that the device will be available on T-Mobile.

Someone claiming to be a T-Mobile store manager reports over at Reddit that Magenta is going to carry the HTC U11 Life in the United States.

The person claimed to have received a shipment notification which mentioned that the U11 Life in blue color was on its way to the store along with a handful of accessories. The shipment notification mentioned that it’s a demo unit of the HTC U11 Life.

According to reports, the HTC U11 Life is going to feature a 5.2 inch full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. It’s also said to feature Edge Sense, IP67 water and dust resistance certification, and a 2,600mAh battery. Android 8.0 Oreo might be installed on the handset straight out of the box.

No word as yet from T-Mobile or HTC for that matter about the HTC U11 Life’s arrival on Magenta.

OnePlus 5T Launch Expected On November 16th

There have been a lot of rumors and reports about the OnePlus 5T recently. The company is expected to launch this new handset in the near future, even though OnePlus is yet to officially confirm the existence of this handset. A new leak suggests that the OnePlus 5T launch could take place on November 16th. Previous reports have also suggested that OnePlus might launch the new handset in the month of November.

Rumors about the OnePlus 5T really picked up after the OnePlus 5 was sold out. You can’t head over to the company’s website right now and purchase the OnePlus 5. Both models of the handset are now listed as sold out.

The latest leak suggests that the OnePlus 5T is going to be launched on November 16th. The image also shows that the handset is going to be an Amazon exclusive in India.

It merits mentioning here that OnePlus usually launches its new handsets in India a couple of days after the global launch. If it’s sticking to that practice this time around as well, we can expect the global launch of the OnePlus 5T to take place on either November 14th or November 15th.

As far as the handset’s specifications are concerned, the OnePlus 5T is expected to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio bezel-less display with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There might also be a 20 megapixel + 20 megapixel dual camera system at the back.

It’s unclear at this point in time when OnePlus is planning on making the official announcement.

iPhone X On eBay Fetching Up To $1,500

Scalpers always jump into action whenever there’s a new iPhone available for purchase. Reports have suggested that the iPhone X will be available in limited quantities at launch due to production issues. This presents a golden opportunity for scalpers who can sell the iPhone X units they acquire for considerably more. That’s what they’re already doing as the iPhone X on eBay is fetching as much as $1,500.

Apple recently said that demand for the iPhone X has been “off the charts,” that’s not surprising, given that many reports had suggested that quite a few customers had decided against purchasing an iPhone 8 because they wanted the iPhone X instead.

The iPhone X is unlike any other smartphone that Apple has released in the past. It doesn’t have a home button and features new technologies like Face ID facial recognition. The iPhone X is also Apple’s first smartphone with an OLED display.

The iPhone X ship times dropped from 2-3 weeks to up to 5 weeks merely ten minutes after pre-orders for the iPhone X opened on Friday. It appears that there was some truth to those reports about limited quantities after all.

The latest numbers from eBay show more than 1,200 listings for the iPhone X. Most of the listings went up within an hour of the iPhone X pre-orders going live. Scalpers have started selling their iPhone X pre-orders on eBay with prices as high as $1,500. The base model of the iPhone X costs $999. That’s a 50 percent profit margin.

This is obviously not ideal for customers and not a lot of people are going to enrich scalpers just because they can’t wait to get their hands on the iPhone X. Nevertheless, there will always be people willing to spend more money just to get the latest iPhone before everyone else.

T-Mobile Restores Connectivity In Puerto Rico With Project Loon

The FCC gave its approval to Alphabet’s Project Loon to deploy its LTE balloons in Puerto Rico. Google’s parent company then teamed up with AT&T to restore connectivity on the hurricane-ravaged island. T-Mobile is now joining forces with Project Loon in order to bring widespread connectivity back to Puerto Rico after the devastation is suffered at the hands of Hurricane Maria last month.

Alphabet initially deployed two Project Loon balloons, they float some 18,000 meters above Puerto Rico. The company has already said that it’s going to deploy additional balloons in the coming days to further improve the communications network.

The Project Loon team recently revealed that since the balloons were deployed over the island on October 20th, they have “delivered basic Internet connectivity to tens of thousands of people.”

The stratospheric balloons themselves don’t provide connectivity. They have to work with a service provider like AT&T and T-Mobile in order to make that happen. Bringing another service provider onboard is going to help expand the availability of basic cellular service to more residents on the island.

T-Mobile has joined the efforts to bring connectivity back to Puerto Rico with Project Loon. Its customers that have LTE-enabled smartphones in Puerto Rico will now be able to access basic internet and texting functionality.
