Facebook’s Workplace Chat App Now Available

Earlier this month it was reported that Facebook was testing out a new chat platform called Workplace Chat that from what we can tell, wants to be a competitor to the likes of Slack. For those who are interested in exploring new options and platforms, you’ll be pleased to learn that Workplace Chat has since been launched and is no longer in beta.

In case you’re learning about this for the first time, Workplace Chat is basically an extension of sorts to Workplace which was launched last year. With the launch of the chat feature, users will be able to chat with users on Workplace over multiple platforms such as their PC, Mac, or mobile device.

Granted this sounds like it could basically be Facebook Messenger, but there will be productivity features such as screen and file sharing, and there are also plans to eventually include group video calling. This will also allow users to create virtual rooms of up to 50 people at once for interactive video conferences.

Given that Facebook can’t just concentrate on regular users, catering to professionals with Workplace and Workplace Chat just seems like a natural evolution. So far the company has managed to successfully get Walmart as a customer, and it remains to be seen if they’ll be able to attract other big companies to its platform in the future.

Logitech Circle 2 Cameras Now Work With Google Assistant & Chromecast

Thanks to smart speakers and digital assistants like Google Assistant, being able to control our smart devices in our homes got a lot easier, where instead of fiddling with an app, we can just tell these digital assistants what to do instead. That being said the good news for Logitech Circle 2 camera owners is that the devices have recently gotten a bit of an update (via Android Police).

In an announcement by Logitech, it seems that the company’s Circle 2 home security and monitoring cameras will now play nicely with the likes of Google Assistant and Chromecast. What this means is that users will be able to use devices like Google Home to control the cameras, and with the support of Chromecast, they’ll be able to project the video feed onto a bigger screen like a TV instead of watching from their phones.

According to Logitech, “This latest integration with the Google Assistant works on all Circle 2 Cameras (Wired or Wire-Free), as well as the first generation Logi Circle, allowing you to watch live video feeds of what’s happening in and around your home directly from your TV. In addition, the integration will continue to evolve, so people always have access to the latest smart home features and voice experiences they love.”

The feature is now live for users in the US, with plans to eventually roll it out to other users in Europe soon. More details on how to get the feature to work can be found on Logitech’s website.

Samsung Patent Hints At How The Galaxy X Could Look Like

For a while now we have been hearing that Samsung could have a foldable phone in the works dubbed the Galaxy X. This isn’t so much a phone that can flip open and close, but rather a phone with a full screen display that can be folded into half, which is a rather interesting albeit novel concept.

So how exactly will this phone look like? We have seen patents filed in the past that have given us a clue, although in recent times the folks at LetsGoDigital have stumbled across another patent that seems to be a bit more “modern”. In this particular patent, it shows how the middle of the phone will come with a hinge-like mechanism that would facilitate the folding aspect of it.

Unfortunately the patent only shows the back of the phone so we have no idea what the front looks like, but presumably it will sport a full screen display, otherwise we’re just looking at a glorified flip phone, something that Samsung is no stranger to as the company has launched foldable phones in markets like China in the past.

So far there is still no set date on when the phone will be launched. Last we heard it might only see a release in 2018, and even then it could be a limited-run handset limited to 100,000 units and also exclusive to South Korea, but hopefully we’ll have more details soon.

DC’s ‘Deathstroke’ Movie Reportedly In The Works With New Director

Save for maybe Wonder Woman, DC’s movies haven’t exactly found the same level of success as Marvel’s has, although with quite a few new movies in the pipeline, we guess there’s still hope. Now if you’re looking forward to a new DC movie, a report from TheWrap has indicated that DC Entertainment is expected to move forward with a standalone “Deathstroke” movie.

For those unfamiliar, there were talks that a Deathstroke film could be in the works where Ben Affleck was supposed to direct it. However the report now claims that Gareth Evans (director for Indonesian action movie “The Raid”) will be the one to direct it instead. In fact last year Affleck released a teaser showing Joe Manganiello as the character, and the report suggests that Manganiello is expected to continue to star in the movie.

After Affleck had stepped down, Matt Reeves was supposed to take over and shelved Affleck’s script and started over, but Evans apparently managed to impress DC execs with his pitch that they decided to give it to him. Deathstroke, who also goes by Slade Wilson, is a DC comic book villain. The character has actually appeared on TV before on the TV series “Arrow” where he is portrayed by Manu Bennett.

It is unclear when the standalone Deathstroke movie will be released, but suffice to say that it won’t be anytime soon so don’t hold your breath just yet.

Destiny 2 PC Versus PS4 Graphics Comparison

The debate surrounding PC versus console gaming will probably never end given how different both platforms are from each other. PC gamers could argue that PCs can do more than just play games, and they can be customized according to a gamer’s preference and budget. Console gamers on the other hand can argue that they’ll never have to worry about not being able to run a game.

That being said, there is one distinct advantage PC gamers have over console gamers and that is the choice of hardware such as GPUs, where PC gamers with a bigger budget can afford better hardware that allows them to push their games to higher limits. In fact just recently the folks at Digital Foundry have put together a video comparing the graphics of Destiny 2 on the PC versus that of the PS4.

For those unfamiliar, Destiny 2 was launched on the PC just the other day, making it the first Destiny 2 game to find its way onto the PC. In the video above, Digital Foundry does an excellent job of comparing what the game looks like on either platform, comparing features like shadow quality, frame rate, textures, LOD, and more.

It is clear that the PC has the advantage here, but we should note that graphics is just one aspect of gaming, and that there are other factors to consider too, but if you’re going purely for graphics and you have the hardware to support it, it looks like PCs have the win here.
