Flamingos are all legs and pink feathers — an iconic symbol of kitsch America. They’re still a bird though; a species that’s struggled against global warming and human development on its habitats. For the past two years, artist Kristin Lucas’ work h…
The next movie in the new Star Wars trilogy is going to be released in December. The fans are certainly excited to see The Last Jedi. It’s not uncommon for movie studios to team up with other companies to jointly promote their offerings. It seems that Samsung might be taking part in one such partnership. Word on the street is that it may launch a Galaxy Note 8 Star Wars edition in the near future.
A China-based source has leaked an image on Twitter which suggests that the Galaxy Note 8 Star Wars edition is in the pipeline. This particular source has a good track record so there might be some truth to this.
It merits mentioning here that Samsung has done something similar in the past as well. It launched the Galaxy S8 Pirates of the Caribbean edition not too long ago. There was also an Iron Man edition of the Galaxy S6 edge a couple of years ago.
So it certainly won’t be surprising if the company decided to launch the Galaxy Note 8 Star Wars edition. However, like we’ve seen on the previous handsets, there won’t be any design changes. These limited edition units normally have exclusive content like themes, ringtones, wallpapers, and multimedia content.
Everything else about the device remains the same. That’s likely going to be the case with this special edition model as well. It remains to be seen if Samsung is going to offer this handset in all markets or if it’s just going to be limited to China.

California has already allowed several companies to test their self-driving cars on the state’s public roads and it has now added another to the list. Ride-sharing service Lyft has now been allowed to test its autonomous cars on public roads in California. The California Department of Motor Vehicles has permitted Lyft to carry out the tests. Some of you might be surprised to hear that Lyft is working in this space as well. The company actually set up a self-driving technology development center earlier this year.
Quite a few companies have been permitted by California to test their self-driving cars on public roads. These include Lyft rival Uber, Waymo, Tesla, Ford, and Mercedes Benz.
Given that Lyft now has a permit to test self-driving cars on public roads, it may not be long before it starts doing just that. Lyft’s self-driving ambitious aren’t secret. The company has talked about working with other autonomous technology providers and partners to bring cars that drive themselves on its platform.
The decision to obtain a permit to conduct the tests on its own also suggests that Lyft wants to play a bigger role in the development of the self-driving technology that it hopes will eventually be adopted for its platform.

Costa Rica is one of the few countries that’s winning clean energy accolades for adopting renewable energy in a significant manner. It has revealed that so far this year, the entire country has been run on 100 percent power generation from renewable sources for 300 days. The confirmation comes from the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity which cites figures from the National Center for Energy Control.
This isn’t the first record of its kind for the country. Costa Rica powered itself on just renewable energy for 299 days straight back in 2015. It hit 271 days in 2016. Costa Rica has crossed the 300-day mark in 2017 and looks set to take the final figure even higher.
There are only six weeks left in 2017 so Costa Rica can easily go beyond the 300-day mark. It’s going to be a significant achievement if it becomes a country that powered itself for an entire year without nothing but renewable energy.
The country relies on five main renewable energy sources. Hydropower has contributed to 78 percent of the demand. It also generated 10.29 percent from wind, 10.23 percent from geothermal, and 0.84 percent from solar and biomass sources.
Costa Rica set a deadline to become carbon neutral by 2021 and these milestones show that it stands firm in its commitment. The country also announced an ambitious plan earlier this year to become the first country in the world with a national strategy to eliminate single-use plastics by 2021.
