Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition For The PC Announced

Beamdog is a company some of you guys might be familiar with as the developer behind titles like Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. If you’re looking forward to seeing more classic RPGs remade, you’ll be pleased to learn that Beamdog’s next game will be Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.

Just like the Baldur’s Gate franchise, the Enhanced Edition of Neverwinter Nights will basically feature improved graphics. It will also feature an improved display where things like character portraits, combat bar, inventory, and other UI elements can be upscaled to Full HD or 4K, depending on your resolution.

It will also feature backwards compatibility, meaning that if you still have your old Neverwinter Nights save files lying around, you’ll be able to more or less pick up where you left of. Unfortunately there was no mention as to whether we can expect additional content like we’ve seen from the Enhanced Editions of Baldur’s Gate.

That being said, Beamdog has announced that they will share more details via a Twitch livestream starting at 12PM PST on the 21st of November, so perhaps we’ll have more details then. In the meantime if you’re interested in getting a sneak peek at what’s to come, check out the teaser trailer in the video above.

EA Dialing Back On Microtransactions In Need For Speed Payback

While loot boxes aren’t exactly a new concept in video games, they have been gaining a bit of attention lately as more players are coming forward complaining about how much money they have to spend for certain games that feel like pay-to-win. This has resulted in EA temporarily suspending microtransactions in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, but that’s not the only game.

In a post on Reddit (via Gamasutra), EA also appears to be cutting back on Need for Speed Payback’s microtransactions. The developer of the game, Ghost Games, has recently pushed out an update that basically speeds up the player’s progression in the game by increasing the amount of in-game currencies players receive from rewards.

What this means is that if you didn’t like the grind or the idea of paying for in-game currencies, this update should help to address that. By giving players more in-game currency through rewards, it reduces the need for in-game purchases. Of course it’s up to players if they do wish to buy in-game currency, but this should help ease the pressure from gamers.

According to the developer, “We’ve been using Community feedback, along with our own in-game data and have come up with a number of changes, many of which are in the process of going live. Our aim with these changes is to make the progression, especially around the ownership of cars a much more enjoyable experience.” Whether or not this is in response to Battlefront 2’s controversy and mounting pressure from regulators who are looking into it is unclear, but it’s still good news for gamers.

The Pokemon Company Releases ‘Pikachu Talk’ For Google Home, Alexa

If you’re a fan of Pokemon, we’re sure that at some point you might have thought it would be awesome if Pokemons really existed, where we could walk around with a Pikachu of our own to be our friend and companion (we suppose pets accomplish the same thing), but not to worry as The Pokemon Company has something that comes relatively close.

The company has recently announced the release of an app called Pikachu Talk and it is available for both the Google Home and Amazon Alexa-powered devices. As the name suggests, this app allows both the Google Home and Echo speakers to talk like Pikachu, which we suppose doesn’t really make a lot of sense but it is rather cute.

Obviously this is something of a novelty app rather than a functional one, but it works, it’s just that instead of getting human voices speaking back to you to confirm your commands, you get Pikachu’s voice instead. If you think you can live with that then great! If not like we said, it makes for a pretty novelty feature.

In fact to prove just how cute and novel it is, Twitter user @shnskm posted a video of the Amazon Echo and the Google Home speaking to each other using the app.

London’s Buses Will Soon Be Powered By Coffee Grounds

When we make food, there is bound to be waste, such as the skins of fruits that are inedible, the roots of plants that we discard, tea leaves that we throw away after one use, and so on. There have been ways to try and find uses for such wastes, such as turning them into fertilizers that we can use back on plants.

However it seems that over in the UK, it looks like the city of London will be putting its coffee drinking habits to a greener use, by powering buses with coffee grounds. This is thanks to a collaboration between Bio-Bean, Shell, and Argent Energy, where London’s buses will be filled with a B20 biofuel created by blending oil extracted from coffee waste and diesel.

The best part of this initiative is that buses will not have to be modified, which means that there doesn’t need to be additional money spent on retrofitting buses with new hardware, and since cafes and coffee producers already use the beans, there doesn’t need to be any change on their part either.

Unfortunately it does seem like it could be a slow effort as only enough fuel has been generated to power a single bus for one year, but as Engadget notes, with 20 million cups of coffee drank per day in London, perhaps production of the fuel could ramp up pretty quickly in no time.

Photo Of New Leica CL Mirrorless Camera Leaked Online

Mirrorless cameras are the happy middle between a compact camera and a DSLR, where it can be small and portable but yet offer up DSLR-quality images and also the ability to swap lenses. Now if you’re a fan of Leica, you might be interested to learn that the company is close to launching a new mirrorless camera.

In fact thanks to photos obtained by Leica Rumors, images of the upcoming Leica CL mirrorless camera might have been leaked. The Leica CL has been rumored about for a while now, but these images look to be of press quality, meaning that it is suggesting that we are getting close to the camera being officially announced.

Details are scarce but according to earlier rumors, the Leica CL will feature a 24MP APS-C sensor, which is the same sensor found and used in the Leica TL2. It will support the TL-mount for interchangeable lenses, and will come with an improved EVF. It has a 1/8000 mechanical shutter, but it will not come with GPS, IBIS, or PDAF, which is kind of a pity.

The camera is also rumored to be officially announced in Japan on the 22nd of November and is rumored to cost around $3,000. Take it with a grain of salt, but we should have the official details tomorrow.
