Bose Launches A Pair Of Smart Earbuds To Help You Sleep Better

Say what you will about Bose creating overpriced products, but it’s hard to deny that the company’s Quiet Comfort series of noise cancelling headphones are some of the best at what they do, and are typically recommended for those who travel on planes and want to drown out the background noise.

This is why it doesn’t really surprise us to learn that Bose has since launched a pair of smart earbuds that they’re calling the Bose Sleepbuds. However what’s interesting about these earbuds is that for such a big company like Bose, they have chosen to launch it on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The company claims that this is to allow customers to try out the prototype and give feedback, presumably before it is launched in earnest.

So what are the Sleepbuds? These are earbuds designed to help improve your sleep. In concept it works similarly to noise cancellation headphones, where the Sleepbuds will help block out common night-time noise disturbances through noise-isolating eartips and also through Bose engineered masking sounds.

It also comes preloaded with soothing sounds that will help make it easier to fall asleep as well, although whether or not you’re the type that can fall asleep with something in your ear is another story. It can also be programmed to wake you up, and because it is in your ear, the alarm won’t wake up the person you’re sleeping next to.

As The Verge points out, the Bose Sleepbuds used to exist under a different name, “Hush”, before it was acquired by the company. Several changes have since been made to the device, but at its core it still attempts to solve the same problem. Unfortunately at it stands the Sleepbud prototypes have been completely sold out. There is no word on when Bose plans on launching them for the public, but it could be a while.

Ben Affleck Uncertain About His Role In Future Batman Movies

For all intents and purposes, Ben Affleck is the current Batman in the DC Extended Universe. In fact at one point in time he was expected to direct and star in a standalone Batman movie, but that did not happen and a new director was found in Matt Reeves. It was expected that while Affleck might not direct the new movie, that he would at least star in it.

However even then it is not a guarantee, at least according to a recent report from USA Today in which Affleck told the publication that his role in the Batman movie is “something I’m contemplating,” which doesn’t exactly sound like he is 100% on board. He then adds, “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”

Affleck has only taken up the mantle of Batman twice so far (unless you count his cameo in Suicide Squad): once in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the second time in the upcoming Justice League movie. Prior to this Affleck had said that he would be willing to do a third Batman movie if Warner Bros. wanted it, but his latest comments make it sound like he still isn’t completely committed to the idea.

It is unclear how Warner and DC plan to move forward should Affleck decide that he’s done playing the role of Batman, but we guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime it will also probably be a while before we see that Batman movie as production is said to only begin next year.

Steven Soderbergh’s Latest Movie Was Shot Entirely On The iPhone

Apple’s iPhones might not necessarily be ranked first place when it comes to its camera (that honor goes to the Google’s Pixel 2), but for the most part Apple’s iPhones have been pretty consistent in capturing high-quality photos and videos. In the past we’ve seen how the iPhone 7 Plus was used to shoot the cover of Conde Nast’s magazines.

So much so that it didn’t really come as a surprise to learn that in a report from Deadline (via Cult of Mac), director Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film “Unsane” was apparently shot entirely using an iPhone. Details about the filming are scarce and it was not mentioned which iPhone was used, but given that the iPhone 8 and iPhone X were only just released, it’s safe to assume that Soderbergh used either the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

Note that this is actually not the first time that an iPhone was used to shoot a movie. In fact over the years we’ve seen how our cameras have improved and evolved to the point where they can be used to capture high quality video footage that was once only achievable through dedicated video filming equipment (to a certain extent that is still true, but that’s only if you’re going for a certain quality/resolution).

Recently we’ve seen how the iPhone X’s 4K video capture capabilities have been compared to an actual camera, and how the Portrait Lighting feature compares to actual studio lighting, both of which definitely shows how far along smartphone photography has come.

Twitch Tells Streamers How Close They Are To Being Partner/Affiliate

We know it can be a bit hard to believe, but if we were to look back say 5 years ago, making a living as a streamer who plays video games while other people watch and pay you money felt almost like a fantasy, but in this day and age it has become somewhat viable (don’t quit your day job just yet).

This is thanks to platforms like Twitch that have helped many achieve this lifestyle, or at least make some money from their hobbies. Now if you are considering making your streaming your job or earn some money, Twitch will now display how close you are to achieving that through the launch of Twitch Achievements.

This was a feature announced back in October but it looks like it is now live. According to Twitch, “Achievements are milestones that encourage creators to learn streaming best practices and interact with their communities. Following these milestones will give creators a clear roadmap to grow toward and apply for Affiliate or Partnership status.”

So if before this you were unsure how close you were to reaching Affiliate or Partner status, the Achievements will help make that clearer. Of course how much you earn will also depend on how many people follow you and tune into your stream, but this should help shed some light on it as well. More details about the Achievements feature can be found on Twitch’s website.

American Eagle’s New Store Has iPads In Every Dressing Room

While online shopping is no doubt more convenient, it can be a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to clothes, as sometimes what’s advertised on a website might be different in cutting or fit when it arrives, then customers will have to deal with getting it resized or sending it back. This is why sometimes trying on clothes before buying is always a good idea.

However it seems that fashion retailer American Eagle wants to make the process a bit more hi-tech. In a report from Business Insider, the retailer has recently launched a new store in Manhattan, New York, where iPads are installed throughout the store, where some iPads will show customers how certain jeans will look like, while the other iPads are placed inside of the dressing rooms.

These iPads in the dressing rooms will allow shoppers to call for attendants remotely, and also edit their choices on the fly, meaning that you could get someone to bring in an item that you want to try instead of having to go out and find it yourself. It also seems that salespeople will be equipped with mobile point-of-sale devices, which means that if you like what you’ve just tried on, you can pay for it right there and then in the dressing room and walk right out.

American Eagle is also allowing customers to order items in the store and having it shipped to them if their size is not available.
