Many Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners are complaining that the most recent update for the device has broken the fast charging feature. The issue was apparently triggered by the October security patch for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ that was released a couple of weeks ago. Samsung has now released the November security patch for these devices but it’s rolling out gradually.
Those who have been facing this issue have been complaining about it on Twitter and Samsung’s community forums. They found out that the fast charging feature of their flagship device stopped working after the device was updated to the October security patch.
The problem appears to have been caused by a software bug as fast charging doesn’t work with Samsung’s official charger even when it’s enabled in the battery settings. Some users have also reported issues with wireless charging.
Not everyone is facing this issue, though, but there are quite a few reports online already which suggest that it’s not something that’s an overblown concern.
There has been no official statement from Samsung on the matter. The company hasn’t acknowledged the bug as yet so it can’t be said for now how long it’s going to take before a fix for this apparent software bug is going to be released.
