Hyundai’s Blue Link Now Offers On-Demand Car Washing Services

Hyundai’s Blue Link is a feature of its cars that has been around for a while now. The app can do a variety of things, such as remotely unlocking the car, and recently with Alexa integration, it can perform actions using just your voice. Now it seems that the app has been updated with new services, such as on-demand car washing.

For the most part car washing isn’t a particularly complicated thing to do, where you can either opt to do it yourself at home, or send it to a car wash. However we suppose the on-demand service does make it more convenient for users who are too busy. This new feature was unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show where Hyundai announced a collaboration with Washos.

This will be available to Hyundai car owners with the Blue Link package, where subscribers will be able to schedule car washes with Washos who will show up at your home with a cleaning crew. It also seems that like the Amazon Key that provides temporary access to your home, using Washos’s service will also grant cleaners temporary access to the inside of your car for detailing the interior.

According to Manish Mehrotra, director of digital business planning and connected operations for Hyundai Motor America, “This proof of concept will allow us to understand the benefits, requirements and challenges of linking to third party providers. Developing an open Blue Link ecosystem creates a myriad of possible business models for the future.”

Former Uber Employee Alleges Company Asked Them To Use Vanishing Messages

Recently Uber has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. The company was recently fined for hiring drivers who had driving-related criminal records, and also for disclosing a data breach that took place back in 2016. As if that wasn’t enough, a former Uber employee has come forward with some additional evidence in the lawsuit with Waymo about the company’s practices.

In a report from CNBC, former Uber security analyst Rich Jacobs has come forward with a claim that Uber allegedly asked employees to use messenger apps with disappearing messages, such as Wickr, in a bid to prevent “Uber’s unlawful schemes from seeing the light of day.” A report from Associated Press also revealed that Uber hired contractors that employs former CIA agents in an attempt to infiltrate their rivals’ computers overseas, which if true is rather damning indeed.

For those unfamiliar with the ongoing lawsuit, earlier this year, Waymo filed a lawsuit against Uber in which the claim that the latter company had stolen their self-driving technology secrets. This was when they acquired a company called Otto which was started by a former Waymo employee who apparently stole the confidential information before he left, which he then used to start his own company which was later bought by Uber.

Based on these recent allegations, Judge William Alsup has delayed the trial at the request of Waymo. While Waymo and Uber have yet to comment on these allegations, Alsup said, “We’re going to have to put the trial off because if even half of what’s in that letter is true it would be a huge injustice to force Waymo to go to trial.”

WhatsApp Now Supports Inline YouTube Playback

One of the features that WhatsApp was lacking compared to other messenger apps is inline YouTube playback. This is something that apps such as Viber already offers its users, but the good news is that if you use WhatsApp frequently to chat with friends and to watch videos from YouTube, inline playback is now available.

For those unfamiliar with the feature, basically inline YouTube playback allows users to watch YouTube videos within the chat itself. This is versus users having to click the YouTube link, which then either opens the YouTube app (if installed) or browser, thus taking you away from the conversation at hand.

The update also introduces picture-in-picture support, which means that if you are watching a YouTube video in a chat but want to switch chats, not to worry as the video will follow you to other chats as well. There is also the inclusion of the ability to record long Voice Messages without tapping and holding the microphone button, a feature that we heard about earlier this month.

It seems that for now, these features are only available on iOS. Presumably it will eventually find its way onto Android, but no word on when that will be happening, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding its release.

Apple Offers Temporary Workaround For iOS 11 Autocorrect Bug

Recently it appears that another autocorrect bug was discovered in iOS 11 not too long after the first one, which was found earlier this month. Apple is aware of the issue, thankfully, and have since offered up a temporary workaround (via AppleInsider). Like we said, it is temporary and hopefully a proper fix is on its way.

Basically what Apple is asking users affected by this bug to do is to reset their keyboard’s dictionary. This can be done by going to your Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary. After that you have to reboot your device and it should be back to normal, at least that’s what some are claiming.

The fix seems to be a mixed bag where some are claiming that they have had success with it, while some claim that this does nothing for them, so your mileage may vary, but hopefully you fall into the former camp. We can only assume that a proper fix will arrive in a future update, but when exactly remains to be seen.

It is rather disappointing that iOS 11 seems to be riddled with bugs that appear to be rather simple, and ones that Apple should have caught well early on into development, but either way for those afflicted, we guess you’ll have to wait for the proper fix.

Apple TV 4K With 64GB Storage Hit With 4-5 Week Shipping Delays

If you were hoping to get your hands on the Apple TV with 4K in time for the holidays, you might be out of luck. It seems that it has been recently noticed that the 64GB model on Apple’s Online Store is listing a 4-5 week shipping time frame, which means that if you wanted it for Christmas, even at its earliest it probably won’t arrive in time.

Note that this only applies to the 64GB model and that the 32GB model is listed as shipping in 1-3 days, so there’s always that if you want it. Alternatively you could try buying the 64GB model from third-party retailers who might have it in stock. At this point it is unclear as to why the 64GB model is facing such huge delays.

Typically such delays might indicate that Apple is low on stock pending a product refresh, but given that the Apple TV 4K was launched not too long ago, we doubt a refresh is in the works, at least not anytime soon. It is possible that Apple could have hit some kind of production or logistics issue with the 64GB model, hence the delay.

If you don’t mind waiting we suppose you could place an order now, although like we said, there are plenty of third-party retailers who have the Apple TV 4K in stock, so you could always check with them if they have the 64GB model in stock if you want it earlier.
