Windows mobile users are really starving for good news, and who can blame them. Microsoft has practically called it quits on Windows Mobile. The Surface Phone is nowhere to be seen. And the company’s strategy seems to be focusing on other mobile platforms instead. So when news of a certain “Andromeda” foldable tablet, ala the stillborn Courier, it has become … Continue reading

Last year when Apple announced the AirPods headphones, they also announced a new W1 chipset that would help make Bluetooth pairing between the devices seamless and done in a cinch. This is versus current pairing methods which can be a bit slow and sometimes unreliable, which could explain why the AirPods have been doing so well.
For Android users who are hoping to see something similar, you’re in luck as Google has since announced “Fast Pair” for Android. According to Google, “Fast Pair makes discovery & pairing of Bluetooth devices easy and is currently rolling out to Android 6.0+ devices. Ease of use, speed and security are the design principles driving the Fast Pair specification. Fast Pair uses BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) for advertising and discovery and uses classic Bluetooth for pairing.”
Unlike Apple’s solution which will require dedicated hardware, Fast Pair seems to be more of a software feature, which as Google points out will be applicable to pretty much all Android devices running Android 6.0 or up. This does give Google the advantage over Apple’s W1 solution, but whether or not it’ll be just as fast/reliable (or more so) remains to be seen, but it’s still great news all the same.

There are a few companies out there who have apps that are dedicated for business communications, such as Slack. Clearly Google sees a huge potential in the enterprise market which is why you might recall that the company was looking to transition its Hangouts platform into one designed more for business use.
In fact earlier this year, Google announced Hangouts Meet which is a video conferencing platform for users. Now clearly with video conferencing, you will need video hardware and of course what you use is entirely up to you, but it seems that Google has some suggestions that could help enhance the experience and have since launched Hangouts Meet hardware.
This includes several pieces of hardware such as a touchscreen controller, speakermic, a 4K sensor camera, and an ASUS Chromebox. According to Google, the controller lets users join scheduled meetings with a single tap, mute team members, and control the camera. The speakermic is also said to help eliminate echo and background noise, while the 4K camera will offer up a 120-degree field of view that will allow more users to fit into the frame.
Like we said, you can use any hardware you like, but Google believes that this combination of hardware will help take your video conferencing to the next level. However if you think that all of this will help, the entire kit will be priced at $1,999 and will be available for purchase in select markets starting today.

It’s hard not to think about Apple when it comes to tablets, but not everyone wants to spend a few hundred dollars just for an iPad to surf the web and watch videos on. So if your tablet needs are relatively basic, then you will be interested to learn that Sprint has a new tablet for you in the form of the LG G Pad F2 8.0.
We know it’s not exactly the easiest name to remember, and neither is it a particularly powerful tablet, but we reckon it should be good enough to get the job done and then some. For starters we’re looking at an 8-inch WXGA 1280×800 display and the tablet will also be packing a MediaTek MT6750 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz.
There will be 2GB of RAM accompanying it along with 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via microSDXC up to 2TB, if you need that much storage. We’re also looking at a decently-sized 3,000mAh battery, a 5MP rear-facing camera with 4x digital zoom, a 5MP front-facing camera, and it will come with Android 7.1 Nougat preinstalled.
As for price, we’re looking at $150 if you buy it outright, but if you go by Sprint’s 24-month installment plan, it’ll cost nothing upfront and a little over $6 a month for the next two years. Details on how to purchase the tablet can be found on Sprint’s website.

Over the years we’ve seen handset makers come up with all kinds of innovative solutions and ideas for their phones in an attempt to stand out from the competition, and HTC is no exception. In fact if anything HTC seems to be one of the ones trying their hardest, like with the HTC U11 which launched with a squeezable frame.
It looks like the company is poised to improve upon that feature because in a tweet posted on their Twitter account, the company is promising that their next phone will have “even more squeezed in”, whatever that means. HTC is rumored to launch a couple of new phones come 2nd of November.

One of those phones is rumored to be the HTC U11 Life which is said to be an Android One handset destined for the US market, while the other is the HTC U11+ which is an upgraded version of the HTC U11. A recent hands-on video that went live a bit too early revealed details like a 6-inch display, a near-4,000mAh battery, wireless charging, along with water-resistance.
Either way we should have all the official details on the 2nd of November, so remember to check back with us then if you’d like to learn more about what HTC has to offer.

When it comes to MMORPGs, EVE Online is one of the longer-running MMORPGs in the world, which means that over the years it has managed to establish a pretty huge and loyal fanbase. This is why you can imagine that the idea of EVE being brought into virtual reality sounded like a pretty obvious step in terms of evolution.
Last year developer CCP announced EVE: Valkyrie which is basically a game based on the EVE universe but playable in VR using the Oculus Rift. It sounded like a fantastic idea, but unfortunately it looks like plans for the game have since been shelved. According to a report from the Iceland Monitor (via Polygon; via IGN), it looks like developer CCP has decided to put the game on hold due to a reduced investment in VR technology.
However while the game has been put on hold, it does not mean that they do not plan to return to it in the future, or create other VR titles. CCP’s CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson was quoted as saying, “We have been front and center in the second wave of VR. Our belief in the long-term transformative power of the technology remains strong.”
Recently former Blizzard exec and designer for World of Warcraft Rob Pardo shared his thoughts on VR MMORPGs, claiming that such titles are still a long way from happening, and if anything it looks like the halt on development of EVE: Valkyrie seems to have proven him right.
