Google Survey Hints At YouTube Edition Android Phone

With Razer launching an Android smartphone catered towards gamers, does this mean that in the future we might be able to expect more specialty phones? We’ve seen phones designed for rugged use, now a phone for gamers, so could a specialty phone designed for video watching be next?

That seems to be what Google could be looking at, or at least that’s according to a Google Survey which asks whether or not customers could be interested in a “YouTube Edition” smartphone. Apparently such a device would be geared towards video watching and could pack specific features that offer better video capabilities than what is available today, such as watching videos from the lockscreen and so on.

However we should note that this does not necessarily guarantee that such a phone is in the works. For all we know Google could simply be trying to get an idea of how people watch videos on their phone, perhaps in a bid to improve YouTube’s mobile experience. We’ve seen niche handsets launched in the past, like Facebook launching a smartphone with a dedicated Facebook button, although admittedly it didn’t exactly take off the way Facebook had hoped.

In any case what do you guys think? Is a YouTube Edition smartphone something you could be interested in?

‘Marvel Heroes’ Has Shut Down Earlier Than Expected

Earlier this month we reported that it was announced that the free-to-play title “Marvel Heroes” would be shutting down at the end of the year. Unfortunately for gamers, it seems that this is no longer the case because in a tweet by the official account, it seems that Marvel Heroes has officially shut down already, a little over a month before what was previously announced.

It is unclear why the game was shut down earlier than what was stated, but with the developers behind the game closing their doors, it seems that they no longer had the resources to maintain the game until the end of the year. So far it seems that many are pretty ticked off by the early closure as some felt that they did not get their money’s worth.

The game was originally released on the PC back in 2013, and it was only earlier this year that it was ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One. This meant that gamers who made in-game purchases on console had less than a year to enjoy their purchases, which is why many had demanded the developers to refund their purchases.

The comments on the tweet are also more or less asking for the same thing, and while nothing official has been announced, we wouldn’t be surprised if frustrated gamers started looking at legal measures in which they will be able to recoup their losses.
