Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2 Confirmed For March 8, 2018

We know that many have been waiting a long time for the second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix. The debut season was released in 2015, and early last year it was confirmed that a second season had been ordered, and a report from a couple of months ago also confirmed that it would arrive in 2018.

However for those looking for a specific date, you’ll be pleased to learn that Netflix has since released a teaser trailer for the the upcoming series, as well as share its official release date which is currently set for the 8th of March, 2018. This means that it has been three years since the first season, which is admittedly a rather long time to wait.

However Netflix has been busy churning out other Marvel TV shows, such as the second season of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders miniseries, and more recently the Punisher series. This means that other Marvel shows looking for their next season’s release will have to wait in queue, although given that Luke Cage followed Jessica Jones in terms of a release, perhaps 2018 could bring about season 2 for the series as well (a second season has been confirmed, but no specific release dates yet).

Replacing Batteries On Older iPhones Could Improve Performance

There is a popular conspiracy theory floating about that Apple slows down older iPhones whenever a new model comes out in order to “motivate” customers to upgrade. Recent benchmarks have suggested that this is not the case, but without doubt older iPhone users can probably start to feel the lag.

Of course this could be attributed to a bunch of different factors, like software, damaged components, and so on, but a recent thread on Reddit (via 9to5Mac) has suggested that there could be a relatively simple fix: replace the battery on your phone. This apparently will result in markedly improved performance at a much lower cost than buying a new phone.

So why is this, you ask? The theory is that this is based on battery issues that iPhone 6s was experiencing, in which there were random shutdowns. The software update released to fixed that apparently dynamically changed the iPhone’s clock speed and made it relative to the voltage that the battery was outputting, thus ensuring that it can’t draw too much power, which leads to it shutting down.

What this means is that as time goes on and the more your battery degrades, the software will keep dynamically altering your clock speeds to match those of your battery, so the worse it gets, the slower your phone gets. For those who want to check if this is real, Redditor Adolf-Intel has suggested that users download the CpuDasherX app to check their clock speeds to see if it matches (or at least comes close) to what the benchmarks are saying.

Ultimately if you’re looking to save money on a new iPhone but hate the fact that your phone feels so laggy, it is possible that changing its battery will solve that problem. It’s not a guarantee that it will, but the evidence does seem to point towards that, so rather than spend close to a $1,000 on a new iPhone, maybe this could be worth exploring first.

Ryan Reynolds Will Star In Detective Pikachu Movie

Pokemon is usually seen as a cutesy kind of game, which is why we thought it was a bit odd that a report from a couple of months ago suggested that actors known for their action movies, such as Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne Johnson were reportedly being considered for the movie.

However it turns out that the report was accurate because in the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like the role of Detective Pikachu has been cast and it is none other than Ryan Reynolds. Yup, you read that right, Reynolds who has been known to be cast in roles where he plays a potty-mouth character (like Deadpool) will be playing the character of Pikachu.

It’s hard to imagine, we know, but that’s apparently what’s going to happen. It will be a motion-captured role as Pikachu will be digitally inserted into the movie, but whether Reynolds will do the motion capture himself or if he will simply voice the character remains to be seen. Note that Legendary has yet to confirm any of the casting or story yet, so do take it with a grain of salt.

So far what we do know is that the other lead roles have been found, like the lead actor who is played by Justice Smith, and the lead actress who will be played by Kathryn Newton. There is still no word on when the movie will be released, but you can be sure we’re pretty damn curious about how it will turn out.

Vine 2.0 Teased By Co-Founder

In this day and age of social media where it is dominated by short-form videos like Snapchat and Instagram Stories, it would have been interesting to see how Vine would have fared. Unfortunately Twitter shut down the service before we could find out, although by the looks of it, we could be getting another shot.

As you might have heard, Vine’s co-founder Dom Hofmann recently tweeted that he is working on a follow-up to Vine, and in his latest tweet, Hofmann teased that Vine 2.0 could be coming. Details are scarce at this point in time, but based on Hofmann’s tweets, it seems that he is hinting that we could be looking at Vine 2.0 or an app that is similar.

Note that Vine was acquired by Twitter, although following the shut down of the service it is unclear as to what might have become of the brand and its IP (last we heard Twitter was apparently looking for a buyer). If it still belongs to Twitter we doubt that Hofmann would be launching Vine 2.0, which could mean that we will be looking at a service that is similar in concept/nature, or that’s what we are assuming.

That being said it unclear when Hofmann’s follow-up app/service will be launched, because he had previously tweeted that this would be an outside project that he will be funding himself, so as not to get in the way of his current work, meaning that he might not have that much time to develop it. Either way it will be interesting to see what he comes up with, and whether or not it will be a success, especially compared to the already-established social media platforms.
