DIY Mechanical LEGO Keyboard Is All Kinds Of Awesome

In case you didn’t know, there is actually a very enthusiastic mechanical keyboard community, where users swap ideas on how to mod their mechanical keyboards to create some pretty unique designs. Recently YouTuber JK Brickworks uploaded a video showing off a modified mechanical keyboard that is made out of LEGO bricks.

You can check out the video above to see the keyboard in action and to learn more about it, but basically the keyboard’s circuit board was taken from an existing keyboard by Cooler Master. It uses Cherry MX Brown switches and features a frame built out of LEGO bricks. The modder went one step further where instead of using regular keyboard keys, he managed to 3D print custom LEGO-like keys to help complete the overall LEGO look.

We’re not sure how practical this keyboard is given that the keys do not even feature letterings on them, but it is more or less in line with what we’ve been seeing from the mechanical keyboard community, where the fun is more in the designing of the keyboard itself, as opposed to its functionality.

Perhaps not everyone sees the need to have such a highly-modified mechanical keyboard, but for those who are interested, the design for the custom key caps can be found on Shapeways, with more information about the build on JK Brickworks’ website.

Visvo’s Novel Backpacks Are A Series Of Hi-Tech, Connected Backpacks

Backpacks are designed to hold our stuff, but with more electronics and gadgets finding their way into our lives these days, backpack makers have started to look towards creating products that can do more. For example we’re seeing backpack makers create backpacks designed to hold our gadgets, with some even creating slots for power banks.

However if you’re looking for a backpack that can hold your stuff and more, Visvo’s Novel backpacks could be worth checking out. Launched on Kickstarter, the Novel backpacks are possibly some of the most hi-tech backpacks that we’ve seen to date. They come with a built-in power bank that lets users charge their phones on the go, with support for wired or even wireless charging (Qi-compatible).

The backpacks also come with a host of cables that can be pulled out from various areas of the back, like the straps, side pockets, and more. There are also magnets built into the straps of the bag so you can clip your earphones when not in use. The designers have also integrated LED lights onto the outer surface of the backpack, making it ideal for cyclists at night, and also inside the bag itself to help users search for things.

There will also be an optional GPS tracker if you’re into that sort of thing. There are three Novel backpacks being offered at the moment, with each model sporting a different style and size depending on your needs. If you’d like to learn more or pledge your support, head on over to Kickstarter for the details.

Component Demand For iPhone X Reportedly Weakening

Recently we’ve seen how the iPhone X’s shipping estimates have been improving tremendously, going from 5-6 weeks to under a week. It is unclear what has changed, but some have suggested that it could be because Apple now has a handle on the components, thus improving the production and improving shipping estimates as a result.

However according to a report from DigiTimes, that might not necessarily be the case. The report claims that according to sources in the supply chain, the component demand for the iPhone X is weakening. This supposedly suggests that Apple is ordering less components than before, which means that demand for the iPhone X isn’t that great, which is why they don’t need as many components.

The report reads, “With demand for key component not growing as strong as expected, the sources are concerned that Apple may reduce its iPhone X shipment target for the first quarter of 2018. The sources pointed out that Apple’s component orders for the iPhone X in November were around 30% lower than its earlier forecast.”

It goes on to suggest that shipments for the iPhone X are expected to continue to be the same in January and February 2018, before declining sharply in March. This seems to be the opposite of previous reports where it suggested that the iPhone X could be difficult to get even in 2018 and that demand has yet to peak.
