YouTube had its hands full lately, dealing with disturbing channels and videos masquerading as family-friendly offerings. Now, YouTube chief Susan Wojcicki has explained how the platform plans to keep a closer eye on the videos it hosts going forward…
Using any piece of software fully and properly is a skill of its own. In fact some are so well-versed with certain pieces of software that they can go above and beyond what one would normally expect. For example we’ve seen how the humble Paint app bundled with Windows has resulted in some breathtaking art pieces.
However over in Japan, 77-year old Tatsuo Horiuchi is going a rather unconventional route by using Microsoft Excel. In the video above by Great Big Story, it shows how Horiuchi comes up with his stunning art pieces using the spreadsheet software. According to the narration, it seems that the reason for choosing Excel was because Horiuchi did not want to pay for painting software, and instead chose to use what was already on his computer.
The end results are nothing short of spectacular and if you did not know any better, you would have assumed that he used some kind of professional art software, like Photoshop, Illustrator, and so on. However we suppose having an artistic vision helps, and so does creativity in which one can find ways to come up with the desired results using the tools already available to them. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, then you’ll want to check out the mini documentary in the video above.

When it comes to protecting their intellectual property, Nintendo can be rather particular about that, such as creating programs that YouTubers need to be part of in order to post videos on Nintendo games. The company also for the longest time ever avoided releasing games on mobile, instead encouraging gamers to buy their hardware instead.
However Nintendo seems to be having a change of heart, at least over in China where it seems that together with a partnership with NVIDIA and Chinese company iQiyi, they will be bringing games from the GameCube and the Wii onto devices like the NVIDIA SHIELD. This was revealed in a series of videos on Twitter by user Daniel Ahmad that were apparently taken from a presentation in China.
It shows games like Twilight Princess running on the SHIELD, as well as New Super Mario Bros for the Wii that appears to run at 1080p Full HD. It is also said that Metroid Prime from the Wii will also be arriving on the system at a later date. It is an interesting choice but it’s good to see Nintendo start to offer up their IPs via non-Nintendo platforms.
However whether or not this arrive in the US or other parts of the world remains to be seen, but we have a feeling it could be a China-exclusive partnership for now, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

It is said to be running in HD (Not sure what that means exactly in terms of the port).

These days the maximum amount of storage that our phones can go up to, at least as far as native storage is concerned, appears to be capped out at 256GB. However that could change in the future as Samsung has recently announced that they have begun to mass produce what they are calling an industry first, which is 512GB of embedded Universal File Storage (eUFS).
Samsung expects that this storage will come in handy for our mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, and is boasting “outstanding performance”. According to the company, “Consisting of eight 64-layer 512Gb V-NAND chips and a controller chip, all stacked together, Samsung’s new 512GB UFS doubles the density of Samsung’s previous 48-layer V-NAND-based 256GB eUFS, in the same amount of space as the 256GB package.”
The use of the V-NAND chips is also said to help minimize the increase in energy that will be consumed, which means that on paper it will be somewhat energy efficient. The company is also boasting that the new storage will feature read and write speeds of up to 860MB/s and 255MB/s respectively, thus allowing users to transfer a 5GB Full HD video clip onto the storage in about 6 seconds.
That being said, it is unclear as to who will be taking advantage of Samsung’s new storage solution. Could it be Samsung themselves with the Galaxy S9 and S9+? Or could it be a competitor? We guess only time will tell.

Sony’s new God of War game is looking good, but unfortunately apart from announcing the game, sharing some details, and also releasing a couple of trailers here and there, a release date has yet to be confirmed, but that could potentially have been revealed thanks to a recent listing on the PlayStation Store.
Initially spotted by Wario64 (via GameSpot), the listing on the PlayStation Store has revealed the game’s potential release date for the 22nd of March, 2018. However as GameSpot has noted, the date has since been changed and the page updated where it now says the 31st of December, 2018.

Of course neither date can be confirmed, but the update does seem to come across as being a placeholder date, since we doubt Sony would release the game that late. This means that it is possible that the 22nd of March, 2018 date could be the real deal and was revealed ahead of time, or that’s the popular consensus for now.
It should be noted that earlier this year it was speculated that the game could be released on the 28th of November, 2017, but clearly that did not pan out, so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for potentially more details.

What might have seemed like good UI design last year might not necessarily be good UI design this year. This is because the needs of users constantly shift, and in turn the way users interact with UI changes as well, like mobile websites designed for feature phones versus those designed for smartphones.
That being said, there is good news for those who are starting to feel that Netflix’s Android UI is getting a bit dated. In a post on Reddit by MyFishDrownedItself (via XDA Developers), it seems that Netflix is testing out a new UI that they’ll be applying to Android (no word on whether iOS will get a similar redesign).
As you can see in the screenshots above, the image to the left is the old/current Netflix UI, and the one on the right is the newer UI. At first glance it doesn’t seem like much has changed, until you look at the bottom of the app where it shows various tabs that helps users navigate the app and shows better.
This is versus from before in which users had to tap the menu button on the top left corner to access the settings and other aspects of the menu. The UI change seems to be server-side enabled which means that no change needs to be done on your part. No word on when it will be released, but Netflix users might want to keep an eye out for it.
