OnePlus 5T Is Reportedly The Fastest-Charging Smartphone

Since our smartphone batteries don’t exactly last us for days or weeks or end, the next best thing would be to make sure that when we charge them, they get up to capacity in a relatively short amount of time. These days OEMs are introducing fast charging features, but which phone is the fastest?

According to a series of tests conducted by Tom’s Guide, it seems that the OnePlus 5T is the fastest. As you can see in the chart above, the OnePlus 5T manages to hit the 59% mark after 30 minutes of charging, and 93% after an hour. This is considerably more than the competition, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which only manages 35% after 30 minutes.

That being said, it should be noted that the phones listed above all feature varying battery sizes, which means that different phones will take different times to reach their maximum capacities, although the OnePlus 5T, the LG V30, and the Note 8 all feature 3,300mAh batteries, so if you’re looking to compare flagships then you could look at those figures.

At the end of the day it will depend on the preference of users and the features they need. Some people don’t need a phone that charges so fast, while others who are constantly on the go might appreciate a phone that can charge quickly, so if you fall into that camp, then the OnePlus 5T could be worth checking out.

The Unlocked LG V30 Is Now Available In The US

If you liked what you saw when LG announced the LG V30 and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on it, but were a bit put off by the carriers and their contracts, you’ll be pleased to learn that LG has officially made the handset available unlocked in the US. The phone is available from the likes of B&H and Best Buy where it is priced at around the $800 mark.

Basically what the unlocked variant means for customers is that customers will get to pick and choose their carriers and hop around if that’s what they wish. The only downside is that you’ll have to fork out the full retail price for the phone, as opposed to being able to pay less or pay through installments if bought through a carrier, but if you want that freedom, then we guess that’s the price you’ve got to pay for it.

The LG V30 is LG’s latest flagship smartphone and comes with the hardware to prove it. We’re talking about the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of onboard storage, a 6-inch 18:9 2880×1440 OLED display, and on the back we’re also looking a a dual 16MP camera setup with OIS, and a 90-degrees 5MP front-facing shooter.

It will also feature IP68 certification which means that it will be both water and dust resistant up to a certain degree.

Quentin Tarantino & JJ Abrams Working On Next Star Trek Movie

When it comes to directing movies, Quentin Tarantino has a very unique style that he brings to the table that sometimes isn’t necessarily for everyone. However given how many hits and classics that he’s made so far, it is clear that he’s onto something. Now if you’re a fan of Tarantino’s work, you’ll be pleased that he’ll be lending his talents to the next Star Trek movie.

In a report from Deadline, it seems that Tarantino shared his idea for a new Star Trek movie with director JJ Abrams, and that apparently the both of them are planning to convene a writers room to develop the film at Paramount, with Tarantino in the director’s chair. Given the nature of the Star Trek series, we doubt we’ll be getting anything crazy or avant garde, but it will be interesting to see the idea that Tarantino and Abrams will be able to come up with.

That being said, we should note that nothing has been confirmed yet. Deadline reached out to Paramount who declined to comment, and there is still no word from Tarantino yet as to whether or not the report is true. However even if it is, we expect that we’ll probably be still quite a long way off from it happening if they haven’t even fully written a script yet, but what do you guys think? Is a Tarantino-directed Star Trek movie something you’d like to see?
