Daisy Ridley Uncertain About Return In Future Star Wars Movies

The upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi will mark the second film in the latest trilogy of Star Wars films, with the last installment coming in 2019. We’re sure many are wondering what this means for the future of certain Star Wars characters that have appeared in the movies so far, and for those who are fans of Daisy Ridley’s Rey, that future is uncertain.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ridley was quoted as saying that her role as Rey will most likely come to an end after the third movie. The actress was quoted as saying, “I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it’s three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out.”

However this was interpreted as Ridley saying she did not want to have anything to do with the franchise in the future, in which she then clarified with the BBC by saying, “When I did sign up, I did sign up for three films and that’s where I sort of saw the story ending. I think everyone has perhaps taken that as me going, ‘I don’t want anything to do with it’ which is vastly untrue because this is awesome.”

That being said, her statement doesn’t exactly confirm that she will be making a return, although whether or not the story will incorporate her character remains to be seen. Last month Disney confirmed that a new trilogy will be in the works, but whether or not we’ll see existing characters return to it, like we saw with Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker, will most likely depend on the story. However since we’re years from seeing that happen, we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Niantic To Revamp Their First AR Game ‘Ingress’ In 2018

These days many might associate developer Niantic with Pokemon GO, but for those who are unfamiliar, Niantic actually started out as a startup under Google where they debuted an augmented reality (AR) game called Ingress way back in 2012, although it’s safe to say that it never quite took off the same way Pokemon GO did.

However the company isn’t done with Ingress yet because Niantic has recently announced that come 2018, they will be issuing a massive update to the game that will revamp it completely and will be known as “Ingress Prime”. According to Niantic’s CEO John Hanke, “This game was the place where we figured out all of the things that we later applied to Pokémon Go, and will be drawing from for other projects that we do in the future. We really look at it as our spiritual core.”

In a way you could say that many of Pokemon GO’s features were a result of Ingress, such as location-based elements. However it is possible that Ingress was ahead of its time when it launched in 2012, and given that we now have a better understanding and appreciation of AR as a technology, Ingress Prime could be worth checking out.

There is no specific date on when Ingress Prime will be released, but it’ll be some time in 2018. In the meantime Niantic is also working on a Harry Potter AR title with Warner Bros. that is also being primed for a release in 2018.

Google Search Suggests iMac Pro Will Launch December 18

When Apple launched the iMac Pro, they did not mention when the computer would be available for purchase, save that it would be released in 2018. However it seems that we might have a date on our hands, thanks to a recent Google Search listing in which it suggests that the computer could be launched on the 18th of December, 2017.

It seems that quite a few people have noticed the 18th of December date on Google Search, although whether or not the listing is accurate remains to be seen. However as pointed out that it is possible that Google’s search algorithms could have confused the words “December” and “18 cores” before putting two and two together to come up with December 18th.

However we wouldn’t be surprised if the date was somewhat accurate. After all we expect that Apple will want to take advantage of the holiday sales and launch the computer before then, but like we said Apple has yet to officially confirm a release date so take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have an official date soon.

In the meantime we have been hearing some interesting reports regarding the iMac Pro’s hardware specs and features, such as how it could pack an A10 Fusion chipset as a co-processor to handle the always-on Siri, and also how it could feature cellular connectivity to prevent theft.

Starbucks Shanghai Lets Customers Tour Its Store Using AR

Despite primarily being known for its coffee, Starbucks is an F&B outlet that has been quick to embrace all kinds of tech. For example the company has installed wireless chargers in some of its outlets to allow for wireless charging. They’ve also created mobile apps that let users pay of their orders and also to pre-order their drinks before they arrive.

This is why it doesn’t come as a complete surprise to learn that over in Shanghai, China, Starbucks has launched an in-store augmented reality (AR) tour for one of its outlets. This will be available to visitors of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Shanghai where they can use the tech to gain a better insight of the company’s operations.

According to Starbucks, “Visitors can point their phones at various locations around the Shanghai Roastery to get an insider’s digital look, including peeking inside the massive copper roasting cask, find out about various brewing methods and much more with state-of-the-art augmented reality (AR) technology.”

We’re not sure if this will be limited to just the outlet in Shanghai or if Starbucks has plans to roll it out to their other outlets in the future, but presumably it will most likely depend on the feedback that they get from customers.

Unlocked, SIM-Free iPhone X Now Available In The US

If you’re someone who hates being tied down to carrier contracts and would love to be able to be free to pick and choose whichever carrier you want, then unlocked and SIM-free smartphones are probably right up your alley. The good news is that if you’ve been waiting for the iPhone X to be unlocked and SIM-free, that time is now.

Apple’s Online Store in the US has started to sell the unlocked and SIM-free variant of the iPhone X. This means that the phone will not come with any line and that customers will have to set that up themselves, although the upside is that customers will get the luxury of choosing whichever service they want, assuming that it is compatible with the iPhone X.

The base 64GB model is priced at $999 while the 256GB model will retail for $1,149. Apple’s website is also stating that the estimated shipping time for either model is 5 days, which is in line with our earlier report in which shipping estimates for the iPhone X have dramatically improved since its launch.

It is unclear if this is due to Apple ramping up production considerably, or if maybe demand is less than what Apple had anticipated, but either way if you wanted an unlocked and SIM-free iPhone X in time for the holidays, now’s the chance to get your hands on one.
