Capcom Officially Announces ‘Mega Man 11’

The last time we saw a new title in the Mega Man series was back in 2010 with Mega Man 10. We’re sure that many have been wondering when we might get the next installment, and the good news is that gamers won’t have to wait too long as Capcom has officially announced Mega Man 11.

According to Capcom, “Today we’re pleased to introduce you to an all-new chapter to the series’ storied history. Mega Man 11 brings a fresh new design and incredible 2.5D visuals to the classic series, leaping into the modern era of gaming with beautiful 3D-modeled characters and hand-drawn environments. Everything you know and love about the Blue Bomber and much more is here in a brand-new style!”

The game is scheduled for a launch in late 2018 so there will be some waiting to do, but given that it has been 7 years since the previous title, we suppose waiting an extra year isn’t too much to ask. Mega Man 11 will also be launching across a variety of gaming platforms, which includes the PC, Xbox One, PS4, and the Nintendo Switch, so basically just about everyone will be able to enjoy the game.

We have to say that based on the announcement trailer, it looks pretty awesome and very much like the Mega Man series we’ve come to know and love, except with newer graphics. In any case we expect more details will be revealed leading up to its announcement, so check back with us in the future for more updates.

Capcom To Bring All Mega Man X Games Onto The Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is great for playing new games, but if you want to relive some nostalgia, you’ll be pleased to learn that in addition to announcing Mega Man 11 for the Nintendo Switch, Capcom has also announced that they’ll be bringing all the Mega Man X titles onto the Switch along with the Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2.

Note that the Mega Man X titles will also be launched for other platforms like the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC in addition to the Switch. The release is scheduled for the Summer of 2018, but no specific dates have been mentioned yet so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but it should prove to be a good way to bid our time until Mega Man 11 is released, which Capcom claims is set for late 2018.

As for the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2, Capcom has stated that it will arrive in the Spring of 2018, so that could also tide gamers over until the Mega Man X collection is released. The first Legacy Collection will feature Mega Man 1-6, while the second Legacy Collection will feature 7-10, which should be enough to get gamers ready for 11.

Capcom also announced a Rewind feature for the Legacy Collection that allows gamers to turn back the clock if they’ve made a mistake.

Instagram Will Alert Users To Posts That Show Harm To Wildlife

These days taking photos and sharing them to social media to document our daily lives, adventures, and travel has become the norm. However sometimes we can be a bit careless with our posts, where what we think is acceptable might not be to someone else, like taking selfies during a funeral, and so on.

However moving forwards, a report from National Geographic has revealed that Instagram will now alert users when they come across wildlife-related posts about the potential behavior to animals or the environment. The publication cites an example where people might go to a zoo and hug a sloth in a photo op, which might seem innocent, but could potentially encourage harmful behavior, like taking animals away from their natural habitat to place them in zoos as attractions.

This is an issue that has been brought up many times in the past, like elephant shows and rides in Thailand, where some claim that while it might seem fun on the surface, there is a good amount of abuse behind the scenes to get the animals to be so compliant. There is also controversy regarding the tiger temples also in Thailand where the seemingly tame tigers are said to be heavily drugged in order to get them to be so docile.

According to Instagram spokeswoman Emily Cain, “We care about our community, including the animals and the wildlife that are an important part of the platform. I think it’s important for the community right now to be more aware. We’re trying to do our part to educate them.”

Analyst Expects AirPods Shipments To Double In 2018

Apple’s AirPods turned out to be quite a surprising hit amongst consumers, despite the fact that it was made fun of at the start, and many were skeptical about its usability. However like we said, it proved to be a hit and a report from several months ago suggested that the AirPods were dominating the wireless headphone market.

This is why it doesn’t really shock us to learn that it is possible that the AirPods could see a growth in shipments in 2018. This is according to a research note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo obtained by MacRumors, in which it suggests that shipments of the AirPods in 2018 could be double that of 2017’s shipments.

The official shipments or sales figures of the AirPods have yet to be disclosed by Apple, but Kuo’s research note claims that 2018’s shipments will be around 26-28 million, suggesting that 2017’s shipments are sitting around the 13-14 million mark. Note that shipments do not necessarily equate to actual sales, but then again we doubt that Apple would increase the shipments if there wasn’t at least some demand for it.

That being said, we should point out that Apple will be launching their AirPower wireless charging mat in 2018 which is compatible with the AirPods charging case, which could possibly help make it more appealing.

Apple Manufacturer Quanta Lands Deal To Make AR Displays

There have been multiple rumors to suggest that Apple could be working on an augmented reality (AR) headset, and now according to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple could be one step closer to making it a reality. This is thanks to one of Apple’s manufacturers Quanta landing a deal to help build AR displays for a company called Lumus.

So where does Apple fit in this? For starters, we should mention that Quanta manufacturers for other companies besides Apple. However the deal that Quanta struck with Lumus does hint that the company could be getting ready to help make AR components for Apple. According to Lumus, the deal with Quanta will see the latter make lenses for smart glasses, but at the same time it will also give Quanta the option to manufacture the component for other tech companies.

Given Quanta’s close and long relationship with Apple, plus the rumors of an Apple AR headset, this indeed does hint that Apple’s AR glasses might not be too far off, although last we heard it was rumored to only arrive in 2020.

Like we said this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about Apple’s AR headset plans. It is clear that the company is interested in AR tech, and just last month it was reported that Apple acquired an AR company. Whether or not this is to further their AR efforts on their mobile devices or to bolster their AR headset project remains to be seen.
