The Crew 2 Beta Registration Now Live

Ubisoft revealed the sequel to The Crew earlier this year at the E3 gaming convention. It’s going to offer a beta so that select players can take the title for a spin before it’s released to the public. The Crew 2 beta registration is now live. Those who are interested can sign up for a spot. The beta will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Ubisoft was supposed to release The Crew 2 is March next year but it has decided to delay the title. It’s yet to confirm the new release date for this game.

The first title in this series was well received. It reportedly reached over 12 million registered players in May. It goes without saying that there are a lot of people out there who are interested in finding out just how better the upcoming title will be compared to its predecessor.

Fans of the series can head over to Ubisoft’s website to register for The Crew 2 beta. They can get a chance to play the game before anyone else during the upcoming beta tests.

Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed as yet when the title is going to be released. It will be out at some point in the coming year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

Opendo Garage Door Opener Remote: Push “B” to Open

Has opening your garage door turned into a boring chore? Why not turn it into a video game with this fun garage door opener that looks like a classic NES controller? Of course button-mashing might result in a busted garage door, so you’ll probably want to avoid that.

The Opendo garage door opener is simply a garage remote transmitter stuffed into the shell of an 8-bit Nintendo controller. It’s something you could hack together yourself if you really wanted to, but when you can buy one from this Kickstarter project for $20 or less, it seems like the effort to make your own wouldn’t be worth it.

It’s designed to work with just about every garage door on the market, though you do need to specify the brand of your opener to make sure they get you one that works on the proper frequency. An early bird pledge of $18 gets you an Opendo garage door remote controller of your own.

Russia Wants To Build A Space Station Hotel

Multiple private space companies based in the United States are working on projects which will enable space tourism. Those tourists won’t be able to stay in space for long, though, unless they opt for what the Russians seem to be planning. Russian space corporation Roscosmos has proposed building a hotel on the International Space Station.

As you can probably imagine, it’s not going to be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. According to the proposal, the space tourists will have to pay at least $40 million for the week-long experience. Those who are feeling extra adventurous will be able to pay an additional $20 million to go on a spacewalk with a cosmonaut.

The plan has been developed by Russian space contractor RKK Energia. It’s pitched as a way to pay for the construction of the second module that’s going to cost up to $446 million.

The contractor has already started work on the first of the two modules that will house a science laboratory and a power supply station. The Russian government will only pay for the first module so the contractor has to figure out how it will pay for the construction of the second module.

The proposal mentions that the hotel is going to have four sleeping quarters measuring two cubic meters each with 9 inch windows. There’s going to be a lounge area with a 16 inch window. The module will also have medical and hygiene stations.

NASA will stop buying seats on Russia’s Soyuz flights after commercial crew programs of SpaceX and Boeing take off. RKK Energia will then fly one or two tourists per Soyuz flight to the ISS.

The contractor needs five years to finish work on the module. With the International Space Station set to be decommissioned in 2028, it remains to be seen is RKK Energia will be successful in this ambitious endeavor.

iPhone X Price May Be Cut Early Next Year

The iPhone X starts at $999 for the base model. It’s the most expensive smartphone that Apple has ever sold. Despite that, the company has seen steady demand for the handset ever since it was released a couple of months ago. However, if a new report is to be believed, Apple might be thinking about cutting the iPhone X price next year.

The report also claims that the iPhone X hasn’t been performing as well as Apple might have hoped in markets like Singapore and Taiwan. That’s why the company might “adjust its pricing” for the iPhone X.

It’s going to be very unusual for Apple to cut the price of its flagship smartphone merely a few months after it was released. This isn’t something that we’ve seen Apple do before and in the absence of an official confirmation, it seems unlikely that this is a road that Apple will go down on.

What a company cuts the price of a product, the intention behind that move is to stimulate demand for that product. Whether or not the market will react to the price cut in a favorable way is another matter altogether.

It’s not clear by what percentage the iPhone X price might go down in the unlikely event that Apple does decide to do this. The company hasn’t commented on this report as yet so there’s not a lot of clarity on the matter at this point in time.

New Jersey Town Closing Streets To Tackle Navigation App Traffic

Smart navigation apps like Waze help their users find the fastest way to their destination. By relying on data crowdsourced from users, these apps are able to provide a better picture of the traffic situation. This can often result in large numbers of users being redirected to streets that aren’t meant for a lot of traffic when highways and major roads are congested. No wonder some communities don’t like these apps. The town of Leonia, New Jersey is taking an extreme measure to tackle navigation app traffic.

The New York Times reports that the town of Leonia, New Jersey is going to close 60 streets to all commuters except residents and workers during peak driving hours – 6AM to 10AM and 4PM to 9PM – starting January 22nd, 2018.

All commuters except workers and the town’s residents will not be able to go through town in order to get around the traffic. They will have to stick to the highway no matter how bad the traffic is.

Some residents are happy with this move. They find it difficult to leave home when a large number of commuters take to the streets and then have to wait for the traffic to clear up. The town’s police chief Tom Rowe told the scribe that they have tried to limit the closures and even worked with navigation app providers but that just wasn’t enough to tackle the problem.

A spokeswoman for Waze said that the service is going to abide by any changes that legally declare a road to be private.
