We know that sinking feeling you get when you realize that your gadget that costs hundreds of dollars has gone missing. It is a terrible feeling, and one that a man by the name of Juan experienced while in the airport at Frankfurt, Germany. However this story has a happy ending, thanks to the Reddit community.
Juan was playing his Switch at the airport and while on the bus ride to his gate, his Switch had fallen out of his bag and landed between some seats. Upon discovering it had gone missing, he filed a lost-and-found report with the airport, and upon landing at his destination of Madrid, he decided to try the Nintendo Switch Reddit community where he wrote, “I lost my Switch at Frankfurt International Airport. Please if you’re the driver of the bus, I’d be eternally grateful and bring you chocolates. I know this has 0,000001% possibility to work.”
However it seems that it was Juan’s lucky day as the 0.00001% probability did indeed happen. Redditor XxPyRoxXMaNiAcxX responded to the post with a link to another post on the Switch thread, where Redditor Itchybun posted about finding a lost Switch and was finding a way to reunite it with its owner.
Long story short, after verifying that Juan was indeed the owner of the Switch through a series of questions that only Juan would know, such as the Joy-Con’s colors, known WiFi networks, friends, and so on, they agreed to meet up in the new year where Itchybun would return the console to him.

As a kid, we’re sure many of you guys would have been indignant and upset if your parents were to read your diary, especially if it was meant to be private. However would you go as far as suing them for it? Over in Spain, that’s what a man’s ex-wife did when she claims that he accessed their children’s WhatsApp messages, thus breaching their privacy.
Speaking to Spanish daily El Español (via International Business Times), the woman was quoted as saying, “Both my kids told me that their father took them to their bedrooms and went over my daughter’s conversations with them.” When the case went to trial, the lower court in the region agreed with the mother, which meant that the father was guilty of breaching their children’s right to privacy, which carries a sentence of up to 4 years in prison along with a fine.
However a judge in the higher Pontevedra court felt differently, and claimed that parents had a greater right to “watch over” their children, while acknowledging that there is a clash between privacy and the duty of a guardian. The court adds, “The development of social networks, as well as WhatsApp, requires attention and vigilance of the parents to preserve the indemnity of minors.”
Ultimately it seems that the father was clear of the charges while the mother was ordered by the court to pay all the legal costs involved with the case.

Last month Twitter rolled out a new feature that expanded the character limit of tweets from 140-characters to 280-characters, effectively doubling the amount of words one could fit in a tweet. It seems like it might have been a good idea, but a recent survey found that Twitter users are divided about the change.
In a survey conducted by YouGov (via Gadgets 360), four in ten users surveyed said that they liked the change, while a third said that they preferred it when tweets were limited to 140-characters, while the remaining users surveyed are still undecided on the change. This is rather interesting because like we said, it seemed like the change was one that many users have been asking for.
According to Twitter when they rolled out the feature, “People in the experiment told us that a higher character limit made them feel more satisfied with how they expressed themselves on Twitter, their ability to find good content, and Twitter overall.” The 140-character limit has been in place for a very, very long time now, so we can imagine that there might be some who prefer the old ways just out of familiarity.
Alternatively some might feel that the longer tweets kind of takes away from the whole point of Twitter, and that it might take longer to read tweets now than before as users might be more inclined to post lengthier tweets, especially with the roll out of the “Threads” feature.

Recently HTC and Motorola came forward and volunteered information, which is that they do not slow down phones with older batteries. This is clearly a jab at Apple, who has recently admitted that they do slow down iPhones with older batteries, an acknowledgement that has since gotten them into heaps of trouble.
Now it appears that both Samsung and LG have decided to toss their hats into the ring as well. In statements emailed to the folks at PhoneArena when asked if they do slow down their phones with older batteries, LG replied by saying, “Never have, never will! We care what our customers think.”
As for Samsung, “Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile’s top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone.”
Apple has since apologized for the way they handled the situation. They are also planning on launching a battery replacement program in which they will replace iPhone batteries not covered under warranty for $29, which is $50 off the regular price of $79. There will also be an update to iOS in which Apple will make it easier for users to identify if there might be an issue with their phone’s battery.

By now you might have heard, Apple has apologized over the slowing down of iPhones and as a token of apology, they have also announced that they will be reducing the price of out of warranty iPhone battery replacements to $29, which is a $50 discount from its regular asking price of $79.
This program is expected to kick off in 2018, but the good news is that if you can’t wait that long and don’t mind a little DIY, you’ll be pleased to learn that iFixit has announced that they will be slashing the prices of their DIY iPhone battery replacement kits to $29 or less. For those unfamiliar with these kits, basically they will contain all the necessary tools you need to pry open the iPhone and replace the battery.
The iPhone battery replacement kit will cover phones ranging from the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE, 5, 5c, 5, and 4s, which means that even if you have the iPhone 4s lying around, you’ll be able to replace the battery using this kit. This is slightly better than Apple’s offer which only covers the iPhone 6 or later, but the only downside is that you’ll have to do it yourself.
However iFixit counters by saying that there are advantages to doing it yourself, such as it’s more convenient as you won’t have to wait for someone to replace your battery since you’re doing it yourself. They also say that it’s more fun and interesting, and it’s also better for privacy if you’d rather not take a chance that a stranger will snoop around your phone during the repair process.
