Back in October, Japanese company Yukai Engineering introduced a therapeutic pillow called Qoobo. Though it is a pillow, it has a big twist compared to other pillows: it is styled after a cat, including soft fur and a wagging tail. The world of e-readers is not exactly one that sets the pulses racing, as there is not much fanfare whenever a new model is announced or released. In fact, you will not see any kind of annual model refreshes, not unlike smartphones where it ends up as a huge event that the whole world looks forward to. However, this does not mean that there is no value in e-readers. Children too, need to pick up the reading habit in order to learn as they grow, so what better way than to get them up to speed with Hoopla Digital’s latest e-reader?
The latest e-reader from Hoopla Digital will boast of specialized features that are able to present picture books and read-alongs, as it showcases content from Disney, HarperCollins, Lerner, Charlesbridge and Britannica including picture books like Pete the Cat and Fancy Nancy and read-alongs like Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Disney-Pixar’s Coco, which is available in English and Spanish.
In fact, with immersive new e-reader technology integrated on this latest offering from Hoopla Digital, it enables graphics to appear just as it would in a physical book, now how about that? Jeff Jankowski, the owner and founder of Hoopla Digital, shared, “hoopla digital continues to invest in the experience we are offering our libraries and their patrons. Our new eReader shows our deep commitment to books and the experience we are creating for readers of all ages. We developed this eReader with feedback from librarians, patrons and publishers and created an experience that really celebrates the work of the authors and illustrators on our platform.”
Read-alongs on Hoopla will be accompanied by audio tracks that have been synchronized with the book, where text will highlight in red in-sync with the narrative audio. This makes it very helpful for early childhood education as well as second language learners. There is also a “Kids Mode” feature that allows families to search and access kid-friendly titles any time that they please.
