I’ve been lugging around a DSLR ever since I conned my parents into buying me a Minolta Maxxum 5D in 2006, and let me tell you, that didn’t win me any popularity points back in high school — even if all my friends ended up with amazing MySpace profi…
Facebook users often find that the videos they upload are removed for copyright violation if they include a song. If they don’t own the rights to that song, Facebook will eventually remove their videos. That will no longer happen, as long as the rights to that song are held by Universal Music Group. Facebook has inked a multi-year licensing agreement with the massive music label which allows its users to upload music in their videos. This agreement also covers Instagram and Oculus.
Universal Music Group has also said that this multi-year agreement will be expanded later to cover Facebook Messenger as well. This deal is a step in the right direction as it will tackle the prevalent copyright infringement issues related to music on the world’s largest social network.
Facebook says that it’s going to work with Universal Music Group to launch music-based products on its platforms in the future. It hasn’t detailed what these products are going to be.
This partnership allows users to upload videos that contain licensed music on Facebook and also personalize their music experiences on Facebook, Instagram, and Oculus.
Universal Music Group is only the first label to ink such a licensing deal with Facebook. The company is said to be in talks with other major labels like Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group as well for similar deals.

The $9.99 per month Xbox Game Pass service was launched by Microsoft earlier this year. The subscription service is like Netflix for Xbox games. Subscribers get access to an entire library of games that they can download on their Xbox One and Xbox 360 as long as they keep paying the fee. Microsoft continues to add new titles to the library. It previously confirmed that Devil May Cry 4 and NBA Playgrounds will be added to Xbox Game Pass next month. It has now revealed that a total of ten new titles will be added to the library in January 2018.
The Xbox Game Pass library already includes more than 100 titles and Microsoft is going to add ten more to the list in January 2018.
The new titles headed to the library include Injustice: Gods Among Us, Fuzion Frenzy, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Deadlight: Director’s Cut, Bayonetta, Zoo Tycoon, WRC 5: World Rally Championships, and Tecmo Bowl Throwback.
All of these titles, including NBA Playgrounds and Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, will be available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers starting January 1st.
Those who haven’t subscribed to Xbox Game Pass before can take advantage of a new promotion that Microsoft’s running. From now through January 4th, they can subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for $1. That’s what they will have to pay for the first month. The price goes back to $9.99 per month for the second month onwards.

iPhone users know the struggle of trying to watch a vertical YouTube video on their handsets very well. Fortunately, they no longer have to go through that experience. The YouTube team is finally fixing this. The player will now resize based on the orientation of the video which means that users will not have to bear the sight of those ugly black bars.
It has been confirmed that the YouTube player on iOS is going to automatically adapt to the shape of the video. The confirmation came directly from the YouTube team itself on Twitter.
Recording and watching vertical videos has become increasingly common as the popularity of apps like Instagram and Snapchat has exploded over the past few years.
YouTube is the most popular online video website so you can imagine how many people had to put up with these black bars just because the player wouldn’t automatically adapt to the dimensions of the video.
Since the player will now adapt to the dimensions of the video that the user is watching, it means that there will no longer be any black bars.
Simply put, the player will become vertical if the video is vertical. If it’s square, the player will automatically become square. This will result in a much better viewing experience for users.
It doesn’t seem like this update has been rolled out as yet but it shouldn’t be long now before it’s released.
Bye bye, black bars. 👋
