You May Be Able To Run iPad Apps On Mac This Year

It was reported yesterday that Apple has delayed some upcoming iOS features to next year for iOS 12 as it’s going to focus on improving the platform’s performance and security this year. The company has reportedly delayed several new iOS features that it was due to introduce at WWDC 2018 and according to a new report this focus on performance and security improvements will extend to macOS as well. However, one major feature has reportedly not been dropped and that’s the ability to run iPad apps on Mac.

The report suggests that Apple is going to try and strike a balance this year between improving the quality and performance of its software while also introducing enough new feature to satisfy fans that look forward to new features every year.

It was first reported last year that Apple had an internal project which allows users to run iPad apps on Mac. It was said that this feature will be released with a major macOS update in 2018.

Axios reports today that while the ability to run iPad apps on Mac adds a high degree of complexity to this year’s macOS update, this will be a significant new feature for Mac and won’t be dropped.

Whether or not the company actually ends up pushing out this feature later this year remains to be seen. We’ll only know for sure when the next major macOS update is unveiled at WWDC 2018 this summer.

House Of Cards Production Resumed By Netflix

The future of one of Netflix’s most popular original shows became unclear this year when its lead was accused of sexual assault. Netflix suspended production on the upcoming sixth season before ultimately dropped Kevin Spacey from the cast. It also announced that the sixth season would mark the end of this series. While many were uncertain if the final season would even be made, Netflix has now announced that production has begun on the sixth and final season sans Kevin Spacey.

Netflix had confirmed this much last month. Its content chief Ted Sarandos had promised that Netflix would resume House of Cards production in early 2018.

As Spacey is no longer involved with the show Robin Wright, who played his character’s wife on the show, will now be the new lead. The transition won’t be jarring given the events of the last season and the fact that Wright’s character has been given her own agenda in the past couple of seasons and is now well suited to be the main character in the story.

While previous seasons of House of Cards have all had 13 episodes, the sixth and final season will only have eight episodes. Netflix is yet to confirm when the final season of House of Cards will be released.

4G LTE Compatible Nokia 3310 Launched

The Nokia 3310 is one of the most iconic handsets ever made. Aside from its popular reputation as being indestructible, it’s one device that many of us have owned at some point in our lives. Mobile phones have come a long way since the time when the Nokia 3310 reigned supreme but HMD Global, the company that’s making Nokia-branded handsets now, has slowly but surely brought it back into the modern age. The company has now launched a 4G LTE compatible variant of the Nokia 3310.

The revamped Nokia 3310 was first launched last year, the company only made a 2G variant available initially. Several months later, the launched a 3G compatible variant that also supported U.S. networks.

It was rumored a few weeks ago that HMD Global might soon launch a 4G LTE compatible variant of the Nokia 3310 and that’s precisely what it has done now. It’s more or less the same device that came out last year but with 4G LTE support.

HMD Global has only launched the Nokia 3310 4G in China right now on China Mobile. While it looks the same as the first revamped Nokia 3310, the company has replaced the previous Java-based operating system in favor of YunOS which is a forked version of Android developed by Alibaba.

The handset even has support for VoLTE HD calls and can double as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot as well. All of these features require power and thus the battery life is down to five hours of estimated talk time on LTE as opposed to 15 hours on 2G.

It’s unclear how much the Nokia 3310 4G costs in China and if the company has any plans of launching it in other markets across the globe.
