T-Mobile To Launch 5G In 30 Cities By End Of 2018

We expect that just as it was the case with 4G coverage, it will probably take carriers some time to roll out nationwide coverage of 5G. In fact carriers such as Sprint have recently announced that they plan to build 5G infrastructure in six cities this year, which by no means is a lot, but we suppose it’s a start.

However it looks like T-Mobile wants to beat them all as the carrier has recently announced their plans to roll out 5G coverage in as many as 30 cities by the end of 2018. This was revealed by T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere during MWC 2018 in which he also poked fun of carriers such as AT&T and Verizon, both of whom are planning 5G coverage through puck-shaped hotspot devices.

The CEO certainly did not hold back as he was quoted as saying, “Dumb and Dumber are in a meaningless race to be first. Their so-called 5G isn’t mobile, and it’s not even on a smartphone. It’s a puck?! You gotta be pucking kidding me! While the Duopoly focus on bragging rights, we focus on customers. T-Mobile has massively bigger plans for a truly transformative 5G experience on your smartphone nationwide. We’re playing the long game … the only game that matters.”

That being said, it should be noted that given the lack of 5G compatible smartphones right now, having wide coverage probably won’t matter as much since no one will be able to take advantage of it. We suppose the only upside is that when 5G phones are launched, T-Mobile’s wider coverage could give them an advantage, assuming other carriers haven’t already rolled out their own 5G networks by then.

Motorola RAZR might return in a different way

The RAZR is arguably Motorola’s most iconic phone, even if, in terms of functionality, it didn’t exactly stand out from other mobile phones back then. Instead, it was revolutionary in its design, both in its overall appearance as well as its loyalty to the dying flip phone form factor. Given that it seems fashionable to revive iconic phones these days, … Continue reading

M. Night Shyamalan To Create Psychological Thriller Series For Apple

So we know that Apple has been trying to land some big names for their original video content, and in a report from Variety, it looks like Apple has managed to nab another big name in the form of director M. Night Shyamalan who will be executive producing a psychological thriller series for the company.

The series will be written by Tony Basgallop and for now, the details are being kept under wraps. However what we do know is that each episode is expected to last half an hour and 10 episodes have been ordered to start, with Shyamalan set to direct the first episode. For those unfamiliar, Shyamalan is behind some hit movies such as The Sixth Sense and Signs which were popular, although some of his other works did not pan out as well.

He also has some experience in television as he had previously produced Wayward Pines for Fox. At the moment it seems that Apple is building up a portfolio of shows and movies, but what many are curious about is where Apple plans on launching them on. Many have speculated that it could be tied in with Apple TV, but that means that it could alienate users who do not own the device.

Some are suggesting it could be a separate app, but Apple is keeping mum on their plans, although Apple’s Eddy Cue did state that they will reveal their plans in a little bit of time.

Formula 1 Launches Its ‘F1 TV’ Streaming Service

If you enjoy racing sports such as Formula 1, then you might be interested to learn that the organization has recently launched its own streaming platform called F1 TV. As the name suggests, this will allow users to watch live streams of F1 races and will also gain other features that you wouldn’t normally be able to expect from watching it on regular TV.

Speaking to Reuters, Frank Arthofer, Formula 1’s head of digital said, “You can go head-to-head with Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel as they battle for second place – and actually go side-by-side and look at the view from each of their cars.” Of course this won’t be a free streaming platform and for those who are interested in subscribing, it will be priced at around $8-$12 with an annual deal priced at around $100, although pricing is expected to vary from market to market (presumably due to conversion rates and standard of living).

Also as it stands, it seems that F1 TV will only be available on desktops and web browsers, so if you were hoping to see it available for mobile, you’ll have to wait. Also versions for TV apps such as Amazon are also expected to come at a later date, but it will be worth keeping an eye out for if F1 races are something you enjoy watching. According to Arthofer, he expects that F1 TV could bring in as much as $100 million in revenue on a five-year timeframe.
