Apple patent details dual-display MacBook with OLED keyboard

A newly published Apple patent details a laptop that replaces the traditional keyboard and trackpad with a large secondary OLED display. The result, at least based on the patent’s description and illustrations, is a MacBook that retains the typical hinged form factor, but that has two large displays instead of one. The second display could function as an OLED keyboard. … Continue reading

Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger Is Now Available On Steam

With so many RPGs being released all the time, it’s hard to know what’s good and what isn’t. However there are some classics that are still very much beloved until today, and Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger is one of them. Now if you’re looking to replay the game, you’ll be pleased to learn that Chrono Trigger has been launched on Steam.

This means that gamers who wish to play the game on their PC will now be able to do so, although it should be noted that the version launched on Steam appears to be a port of the mobile version that was released back in 2011. This means that in terms of graphics and its UI, it is clear that this has been designed for mobile devices and optimized for touchscreen displays, as opposed to designed to be played with a keyboard and mouse.

However the good news is that the version released on Steam will come with the features that were previously exclusive to the Nintendo DS, Android, and iOS devices, so there’s that. It also comes with bonus dungeons, and if you hurry up and purchase the limited edition version of the game, there will be soundtracks from the game that you can download as well, along with PC wallpapers.

The game is priced at $14.99 and unfortunately while Chrono Trigger is one of the more beloved RPGs of all time, the fact that the Windows version of the game appears to be a port of the mobile version of the game has resulted in it receiving mostly negative reviews on Steam, but it could be worth a look if you’re a huge fan of the game.

Xiaomi Still Plans On Entering The US Market

We have been hearing for some time that Xiaomi wants to come to the US but that has yet to happen, and following the departure of Hugo Barra, who some believed was one of the key people to help Xiaomi break into the US market, some are wondering if Xiaomi’s US expansion plans are still on track.

The good news is that they are, according to an interview with CNBC in which Wang Xiang, the head of Xiaomi’s international business said that they are still looking to enter the US market at some point in time. Wang was quoted as saying, “We always look seriously at the U.S. market. The U.S. market is very important to us but we are very, very carefully building our resources to serve the U.S. consumer.”

Wang adds that the US market is different from other markets where customers enter into contracts with carriers to purchase phones, as opposed to buying them outright (it is possible to do so, but contracts appear to be a popular and more affordable option). As a result, Xiaomi needs to rethink certain things in order to address these differences.

He also says that Xiaomi isn’t concerned about how there might be some anti-China sentiment in the US, namely from US intelligence agencies who have recently warned against purchasing phones from Huawei and ZTE. “We are an internet company, we are very open. Very friendly to consumers, to the people in different countries. We also have lot of fans in U.S. They keep asking me when do you come to U.S.? I always tell them, we’ll be there. Also we are very confident… they will love us.”
