US regulators delay noise mandate for EVs and hybrids (again)

Electric cars are considerably quieter than their gasoline-powered counterparts, but that’s not always a good thing. Pedestrians, especially those who have visually impairments, often rely on audible cues to signal an approaching vehicle. That’s why…

Activision Reveals Plans For More Remasters

Recent rumors have suggested that Activision might soon release a remastered version of Spyro the Dragon Trilogy. A new revelation from Activision has now added more weight to these rumors as the company has revealed that it’s going to release more remasters of its previous titles in 2018.

Activision made this revelation in its annual investor report that was released recently. The report mentions that Activision will look through its IP portfolio to launch additional remasters in the second half of this year.

The company mentions in its report that it expects to release World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and its latest Call of Duty game in the second half of this year. It will also provide ongoing content for various franchises such as Destiny 2 and Hearthstone, in-game events for Overwatch, and map packs for Call of Duty: WWII.

“Releases of remastered versions of titles from our library of IP” are specifically mentioned in Activision’s annual investor report so it comes from the proverbial horse’s mouth.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Activision will mine its IP library to revive old titles. It launched Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy last year, a remastered version of the first three games from the Crash series that was well received by fans.

Nintendo Switch Game Review Functionality Suspended

It was first reported about a week ago that Nintendo was now allowing gamers to post reviews of Switch games directly on its website. This meant that gamers who browsed the company’s website to search for new games were able to see ratings and reviews for those games left by other players. However, merely days after this functionality went live, Nintendo has suspended game reviews on its website.

A posted on the company’s website reads that “Customer reviews have been taken offline as we evaluate this feature and its functionality,” adding that the company currently has no estimated date on when this feature will return.

Just because Nintendo has said that it’s evaluating this functionality doesn’t mean that the company has decided to discontinue it, even though this is what some users believe right now. Perhaps the company just wanted to work out the kinks with the feature and felt that the right way to do so would be to take it offline and do it properly.

A representative for Nintendo of America confirmed to Polygon that this “trial customer review feature” has been taken offline for evaluation. The representative adds that the response from the community has been positive and reiterates that it can’t be said for sure right now when an update will be provided on the status of this feature.
